That's true, I still play it because it's better.
Monsters have got to stop changing their looks, the new picks are horrible looking beasts, even the non-chaotic monsters.
The Titans look the worst though, who wears a helmate and a piece of armor around their arm, but wears no shirt? I mean, come on!!!

I dated a girl like that once. Airports and metal detectors were a real pain-in-the-a**.
I actually liked the 'cartoonish' looking creatures from H2, not to mention the overall objects on the map itself. When I first start playing H3, I missed a lot of things due to the greater detail on the map. Now, with H4, I miss even more stuff. As a matter of fact, there are probably still some places or objects that I still by-pass because I have no clue they are there because I think they are just another part of the landscape. No wonder I am so bad at H4.

Same here, and there's so many objects you have to have a manuel to know them.

there are three possibilities:
1) the titans wear the helm because they are afraid of the hobbit's giantslayer ability (based on the david and goliath story).
2) the helmet helps them aim their shots better. normally you would say that it's the other way round, this kind of helm would make it harder to estimate the distance and the vertical direction (what you see is part of keeping balance, e.g. it's harder to stand on one leg with eyes closed), etc, so it should make it harder to aim.
but let's not forget this reasoning is based on our experience as mere humans. the titans normally have their heads in the clouds and find it difficult to focus on their targets. so the helm is there to constrain their view, so that their eyes and thoughts don't go wandering in random directions.
3) both of the above. the helm is polyfunctional.
========
at first glance, the helm seems ridiculous, but really, there is a solid reasoning behind it that is not without a sense of irony. so, do not underestimate nwc. there's depth in their games that is often beyond our comprehension at first glance.
or what do you think?

The titans always had helms, ever since they first appeared in HMM2, and I don't see anything wrong with this. They are greek myths, and greek soldiers/war-gods always had those types of helmets on.

It's a T slit helmat, no special properties.
The Titans looked better in their first appearence.
Golems are getting stranger, they used to be ol' tin cans, then they were stone, iron, gold or diamond lumps with legs, and now they're big old horned golden things wich like to smash.

Geez...why is everybody bashing the H4 monsters?
Yes, some of ´em have lost their "touch", but noone can argue that they are beautifully made, or?
The Behemoth was way cooler in H3, that is true, and they need to make the "bigger creatures bigger", so that there is a larger difference in size between lets say a dragon and a pikeman.
But look at the details on the creatures, pretty impressive imho.
And besides, it´s impossible for the graphics team to create monsters that all of us die-hard fans will like. Some prefer H2, others H3...etc.
Just my 2 cents

btw wasn't it so that the greek god zeus, who's weapon was lightning, was not one of the titans? in fact, as far as i remember, the titan kronos (or what was his name) ate all his children (a famous painting by goya) for fear of rebellion, but once gaia gave him a stone and hid the child (as far as i remember, it was zeus), zeus and some other gods fought the titans, and the result was that the titans were imprisoned in tartaros that should be somewhat analogous to hell. i got the impression that the greek thought that the gods were good (or at least more or less so), the titans were bad.
now, nwc has elegantly joined the concept of titans and gods (assuming that there was no titan associated with lightning). you might say that it was like creating a creature that was an amalgamation of god and devil in christianism.. marvellous.
actually, there might be less reason for sarcasm here. i wouldn't argue that the gothic artists might sometimes create this kind of amalgamation, especially if it's not about christianism (they might expect some inquisitors visiting them, if they mixed god and devil into one).
maybe the titans and greek gods were the same for medieval christians? in fact, as far as i remember, the gods were children of the titans, so there might be a reason to say that they are essentially the same, compared to the christian god (at least in the opinion of cristians, i guess).
the several paintings called 'battle of gods and titans' speaks against that, though. it looks like the medival christians were generally well aware that the gods and the titans were opposites.

Gods and titans were rivals (so zeus wasn`t a titan, neither was chronos, but zeus did use lightning it actually was his trademark) but there wasn`t such a thing as good and bad guys. An interesting thing about ancient greek gods is that they weren`t considered flawless, but had human weeknesses apart from being immortal. There were stories about them that would remind us of a soap opera (cheating, betraying, jealousy). Anyway, some elements of greek mythology were taken further through the middle ages, or later, a couple of centuries ago, in british literature. That explains how creatures like the titans made it in homm. It doesn`t matter what the initial concept was (though it`s interesting to know) because homm is about a different story. Maybe the titans fleed to homm after they got defeated by gods

Behemoth, you just made sense.
The Titans were not evil, and not good. Sort of fits in with the Order town now, but then agian, they've always been there.
I'd Like to see Titans with: Bigger thunderbolts, same amount of armor as befor(in H4), no swords, greek helms and sandles.

and my point was that the helm might restrict vision a bit too much for a shooter (making it look unnatutal, at least in my biased opinion) and it looks slightly futuristic and it looks too heavy ant too grim for a greek god (no idea, maybe the titans were more grim), etc.
the reason that i said 'the gods were good (or at least more or less so)' was intended to make the post less misleading about good and evil, but i guess it was lost in the large amount of text where i tryed to find parallels with defeating the rebel angels in christianism that popped into my head at the moment.
nevertheless, i have got the impression that the titans were more ancient, and maybe even considered barbarian, and if the battle was to happen again, i would guess the greek would be on the side of gods rather than titans (at least what little i have read about the battle seems to be described from the point of the gods rather than the titans).
and as a somewhat irrelevant side note: i got somewhat interested if there are some artworks about greek or roman gods or titans from the suitable (suitable in my opinion) timeline, and i even managed to find something (i guess it's just a detail of the game, but if someone is especially interested in that particular topic, i might as well share the findings):

no, imho the titans look good, they even look great. it's their helms that don't suit them. they might need a different type of helmet.
