Incubus... If you are working on a book, I highly recomend posting some of it here so we can look at it, and critique it. If you have an idea of what people like or hate about your book, you will have a better idea of what makes a good story.
I'm also trying to work on a book, for my creative writing class. Mine is about a war in a powerful family, so there are no good or evil sides. Many people die (I hate it too, when no one gets injured) and it happen over a vast kingdom the family controls...
Anyway, if you do make a charactor named 'Paul' (but is it my real name? hehehehehe...) make sure to kill him off. I would want it that way.

There is good and evil in my book.. It's about 3 young people... A paladin(Student not yet paladin) A learning sorceress and a Archer-Later Eagle Eye...
they have all a wish and one day they find some cool things (that are traps of the devil himself) And they get all the same dream(incubus and succubus makes this dreams) Then they wake up and they see a fata morgana from the father of the paladin(an evil morgana is responcible for that..) They find a map and the paladin takes the map to the Mage in the town.. the mage finds something that is dangerous and sees it's a trap to lure the kids to devil island(lol i don't have other names yet) And not a treasure when he wants to tell it to the boy he gets killed by a Giant rat.. Ghehe that is some other story of how the rat gets giant... He gets giant because the boy comes into the mage room the mages let fall a growing potion and the liquid goes inside a rat hole.. nothing happens till the thing of what I told above is happening.. I Make a book about creatures and monsters and fantasy and mytology.. And many guys and evil guys are going to die.. Some deaths are going to be a Good bard and a good Hobbit a Good Gladiator and a good Sabretooth. Bard dies because of Stolen gold from the leprechaun.. then the leprechaun gets mad and turn the bard into golden statue... The gladiator becomes stone but saves the young paul from the medusa.. and the sabretooth becomes victim in the town of the brigand... the gladiator has beaten the minotaur that is the pet of the brigands in a area fight.. then all the brigands attack the kids and friends..everybody survives but the sabretooth is getting seriously wounded.. They must leave him behind ... and he dies.. the hobbit is MEAT for the scylla.. But everything is very difficult to do in english so i do it in dutch.... I'm not this far.. They are still in the village...from the boy.. the adventure hasn't begun yet... The mage is just killed by the rat and that's it...
PS: many Wrong words I use.. so you don't know anything of the story yet... i can tell it if it's more complete...

Well, Pikemen are definetly in Heroes 4.

Well, they negate the no-retaliation ability. That's interresting. Maybe they won't be such a boring unit in Heroes 4. One can hope!

It's all DUTCH.... I'm making it togheter with Aerial,we just finished the first pages.. 3 whole print papers!!! And that's only the beginning... With some devil,incubus and succubus twins and evil eye/Oracle and cerberus.. Pff but i don't wanna explane it all! maybe later >;p)

After seeing how big this thread got I tried making a thread about improving creatures instead of just trashing them. No one posted there (well, very few).
It's easier to hate something than to figure out how to repair it!
So, yeah, I regret making this thread, but atleast there are some interesting discusions in it.

Peasants ?? what a waste  but some ppl for get about the advantage of being necro hehe nice fodder for some . I'd like to see more speed on creatures for the swampies and Titans too. as for Mech units ? hehe u get those on the choice list and you just know that they'll reign supreme. If not all the time , then certainly on specific maps. If they do come into play it'll prolly be an unfair advantage . As i've played other Fantasy/strategy war maps they always seemed to have an advantage. And the struggle to insure the balance is just too great. C YA in the Zone Ken-Dragon1

But if you take a look in the creatures section of www.hmm4.com, it says that gold golems are also mechanical, this is based on Wyverns information.
If Gold Golems are mechanical, what's wrong with the Dragon Golems? Maybe because they're notably mechanical?

Yes exactly Hydra , they're notably mechanical. Gold , Iron , Diamond,Stone golems are pretty cool because they are animated by magic. Also that stupid dragon golem looks like that machinery from "wild wild west".

oh, dont worry, im sure 3do will have an explanation for the dragon golems along w/some other new creatures in the campaigns as they always do. just like they did w/agar and the evil eyes.

3do said that there would be no redundancy of creatures, and yet, there are 4 dragons! That's just as many as in Heroes 3!(If you don't include Wyvern and Hydra)
And i know that the Wyvern isn't going to be in H4, but as Oldtimer said, a Wyvern is just a mini dragon, and a fairy dragon sounds like it's going to be a mini dragon.
That would make them basically the same.
I also think Dragon Golem is teasing the Dragons out a bit too. I think there are too many dragons used. maybe just have a Bone, and a Black.
I think they should include the Wyvern and scarp the Fairy Dragon. I'm not very fond of the idea that there is going to be a Fariy Dragon.

i would rather have azures than faeries...
even though i think they are both stupid and not very original creatures at all.
maybe they should have a baelrog for a L4 instead of a faerie dragon... that was the dude that gandalf fought and barely beat in LOR... he sounded cool

Creatures I don't think should be in HOMM 4
Peasents, Troglodytes, Griffons (They just shouldn't be in Castles, should be moved to Dungeons), Walking Dead, Gnolls, Lizardmen, Serpent Flies, Fairy Dragons (Are they someone's idea of a joke or somthing?), Wolf riders (Wolves can stay, but ditch the Riders), Orcs (Only the ones that throw axes, that is just absurd), Baskilisks (Well, only if they gain more Hit Points).
