Quote: @ Angelito: Just how many women do you know who feel that the term "Mrs." is 'discriminating' or 'offensive' ?
I seriously don't see the problem.
I can't tell ya, because as JJ already pointed out, the word Miss in german is "Fraeulein", and it was "removed" many years ago already.
But it is not the question how many women feel offended by this term. It is the problem in general what is important here.

What "male form"? There is none.
In German "Fräulein" (Miss) is a belittling version of "Frau" (Mrs.) as is in English. The male Address is "Herr". There is no "Herrlein" (the word doesn't exist), and believe me, if someone would suggest to use this as an address for bachelors he'd be lynched. It would be like "Little Mister", which would probably shorted to Limm.
So: would you like Mr. and Mrs. for men and women or
Mr. and Mrs. for married men and women and
Limm and Miss for unmarried men and women?

Why does there need to be any titles at all?
Its silly and almost feels medieval to me. But then, I live in a country where Mr and Mrs arent used as much as England or Spain etc.

This is rather silly. Personnaly, I adress every woman as "miss" regardless of their marital status (which I could care less about). In fact, no one I know ever bothers to use the term "Mrs" at all...
