What was you most miraculous or impossible win

I was playing my usual random map.  Large at 160%.

Starting towns were ME: Dungeon i was underground
                  OPP: Inferno he was above

I bought 3 heroes as i usually do.. my main was Jeddite.
By Day 2 i had fully explored my entire available area. Found minimal gold, if any.  Flagged my ore mine. Did not have a wood mine.

My two fighting options were a horde of Nagas to pass through my roadway, or lots of Medusa Queens to get up to the above ground.

I built a mage guild and a town hall and mana vortex week 1. Then managed to trade in some resources to get a blacksmith and marketplace by end of week 2.

My mage guild had no magic arrow so fighting the medusa queens with only 7 evil eyes and 50 trogs was out of the question.

I managed to get 6 wood from my opponent, with that i was able to buy guild level 2.   Meanwhile this is late week 2 and i have not moved any since day 1.

My opponent also sent 5 more wood.. enabling me to buy medusa.

SO bye early week 4, my total army consisted of maybe 12 medusa. 70 trogs and a handful of evil eyes. . My only hope was i had Jeddite with 4 power and knowledge advanced Intelligence and mana vortex.. giving me 120 spell pts..

So, i broke the medusa with relatively few losses, and above ound was Lots of ogres... also above ground i could see my opponent and his territory.

so i go under. .for my turn..

Then come back up break thu the ogres relatively pain free, then take about 5 steps down the road.. seeing into my oppponents territory... then i pretend ro turn and run back under ground.. but of course i only went under and did not move.

next turn i pop up and have exactly enough movement pts to catch my opponent in town with a very small army.. But he had 15 efreets and 25 pit lords and so on,, unbought in his town.... needless to say.. i won.

All throughout that game i had wanted to give up.. due to my piss poor start.. .and knowing my opponent had nice large area to explore...

My opponent was quite upset that i did this.  All hw had to do was buy a small part of his huge army and i was easily dead.

That was by far my most miraculous win... i dont think i will ever repeat that one again.

Back in Season 1, before I quitted playing ToH maps, I was in the final and decisive game of a division match on Battle for Honor. We were both Necro, and thanks to the symmetry, my opponentīs Aislinn and her much better stats-enhancing artifacts gave her an overwhelming advantage. When our heroes met, I had to surrender, and after that she became very impatient and angry, asking me to either concede the game or meet her in the middle of the map to fight what she called a honorable battle. I did neither, and instead kept all my heroes hidden under my Cloud of Darkness.
When Aislinn entered the cloud, she was attacked by seven scouts, carrying seven split Wraiths each, until she was down to zero spellpoints. The following battle decided the game.

Lews that was the maos beautiful story I have ever heard regarding strategy.

Sometimes people forget that Heroes is a canvas and we are the artists.

Your example reminds us there is more than one way to win a game.

By the way, I know the person you speak of.

She masks herself as an honorable player but like you said; she was angry and told you to concede.

The only reason I know who it was because to this day she still cries about that brilliant move you made.

I have only one win, so it's the most amazing one

In that game (Battlemania) I was Stronghold, he was Dungeon. I came to him, he had a better army (i.e 27 Blackies vs 22 A Behemots), and he would kick my ass, if not one thing - Resistance, I had the Boots of Resistance as the Nagas Relic, and also the skill, so He missed some spells that were lethal to me (though, fortunately, he had no Implosion)

get your story straight

This is the kinda thing that really ticks me off... Moc do you know the whole story? were you there? No i don't think you were.

Yes i was the person you speak of - if you're going to insult me - do it directly - say "pandora you are dishonorable" just say what you mean. Don;t pretend that you need to protect me by keeping my name a secret you wanna slam me, go for it.

Lews, i was tired of the game yes, it was long - but honestly can you recall me insisting you conceed? be fair now... i wasn't at all angry at you at any point - and to make me out as such is very unfair.

I did not like the wraith bomb, why? because it took like 15 minutes for each scout to do his thing, the whole wraithing process took over 40 minutes. I got fed up with that - and that's when i wanted to give up.

Since then Lews, i have said on many occaisions that i consider you to be a great player - i have even said that it was a great move - but yes i hated it - i think anyone on the recieving end of it wouldnt enjoy sitting there.  But never have i had any personal problems with you.

And Mocara, obviously you have never felt frustrated in a game because to be as such is purely dishonorable - as i am - so you cannot even begin to fathom that a person can be upset at a situation - without holding any personal anger towards a person.  So of course Mocara, you are in a position to judge me as dishonorable - thank you for the label.

Ok here's mine. One of my first games.
I'm Fortress & my opponent is doungeon.
Unfortunately he found two dragon caves for more red dragons he built that week.
I built up my fortress to the pond & castle in first week.
I knew I was in  trouble & had to find a way to match his army yes.
After a couple weeks I explore towards is territory & I see a griffen conservatory.
My my army is 2 week full of creatures & attack.
200 griffens yaa for 4 angels.
so I decide to go south & what do i see, him going into underground with a hugh army.after that day he comes after me on week 3  with 9 reds & a full army so I knew I was in trouble.
So I retreat to the left & I see an upgrading place.
I upgrade everyone & the arch angels.
He tried to run but.DDDD:

Sure wins , turned into Losses!

I personally cant think of any game that I have won in a situation like this.

BUT I can say that do to my stupid and careless playing I have been a player that has given many many players the ability to write a story in here.  LOL I have had tons of games locked up for sure wins and then lost them from stupid carelesss mistakes in the final days or final battle.

Some examples:

Playing SD3 against Vex, he broke thru with the standard week 3 day 4 quick attack and had about half his army.  mainly his beths and birds and ogres survived only.  But he had twice my stats.   I had Chainlightning and antichain pendant and shackles and spell power and knowledge was my highest skill. ( since I used to only take magic heros )
BUT I had like 2 spell points and I am player RED so there are no wells close so I run into my castle ro replenish spell points and he hits me on his turn so my points didnt replenish.  needless to say 2 Chains would have wiped him out and I would have won, but silly mistake in last couple days of game lost a sure win game.  gave Vex a story

Playing Hapkane on Bob2, in the final battle, I had 10 ArchDevils and a couple effreets still on field and he only had like 2 Blackies and some other small units nothing major, I was gonna win easily or so I thought hesens all his forces and attacks my liitle stack of efreets and kills them.  leaving me with only 1 stack of 10 ArchDevils. Then he simply Blinds slows and reblinds me to death. First true experience with that frustrating tactic  gave Hapkane a story

I have 100 more stories similar to these, lol.  But we save them for another time.

I think mine would probably be when playing 7-lakes vs. Mocara.  A clan game where i started with my lvl 2 bonus (sword of hellfire).

Mocara is red starting as Cyra.
I am blue starting random, got Torosar Tower.

I find Solmyr in tavern, and claim 3 other towns first week, including 2 ramparts.
Mocara eliminates Purple and builds the inferno town.

Torosar heads southwest to shipyard, and other heroes of mine claim the 5 gold mines.  Solmyr finds pendant of negativity, good breastplate and helm, and conquers tan.  Building gorgons and hydra pond before week 3.
Meanwhile Torosar gathers a large Rampart force of centaur captains, g.elves, s.pegs, and unicorns.

Solmyr sails east with fortress forces, takes out the angels, grabs relic (celestial necklace), and heads east toward purples town (Moc's capital) ... because I know that Cyra is in the northeast corner getting lots of level 5 joiners.

Meanwhile Torosar heads north with rampart army, following the beltway clockwise to take out all Mocara's towns while Cyra is away. (just to be annoying)

Solmyr runs into Fafner who is prepared to defend the capital with new week's recruits, having 2 devils, 4 efreet, etc... During the battle, there were NO resists, Solmyr ran out of spell-points, and Solmyr won that battle with only 6-7 gorgons remaining.

At this time Torosar has taken Mocara's Inferno town northeast of the main lake.  Cyra is closeby.  So I build a castle-gate to warp Solmyr up, give the +3 all necklace to Torosar, and I leave Solmyr in town, having 6-7 gorgons and NO spell points, and there's no mage-guild in town. (Solmyr also has lots of good lvl3 artifacts)

By now I'm thinking ... "Oh CRAP!  I think I'm dead!" yet it turns out that Torosar is blocking the road (to Solmyr).  And here I'm thinking to myself "I don't think Torosar can hold her off"

Torosar is attacked by Cyra.  The game deciding battle:
Torosar having i think (rough estimate):
- 99 centaur captains
- 34 grand elves
- 25 silver pegasi
- 10 unicorns

Cyra has:
- 32 mighty gorgons
- 30 hell hounds
- 3 devils
- 10 efreet
- and a bunch of other semi-powerful joining troops

with the necklace Torosar had a little better stats.  I don't remember how it happened, but somehow i managed to win that battle, all because Cyra had terrible morale ... and thanks to Torosar's tactics I kept most my g.elves alive.

i played with madriver in hg3 in the finals this week
i was 99% sure i was gonna win i had gr-8 arts
my stats was 43/12/24/10 + expert offense
and his was 21/20/19/20 some thing like that i think

ok my hero was much stronger and i had 2 times the size or an army b/c i got 2 castle of barabaries and bulid them both up i had like 12 benmoth and he had only 6 arch devils etc...

he broke throw the garrison and his main moves very fast as soon as i show his dosnt have the big of an army i said i'll attack him now i 99% sure win the game my army was split up but all heroes were petey close so i can trade so i started tradeing and game was 4min turns, some of my guys were not upgradind so i had 2 upgrade them now the time said 1 min left and i would not have enogh time 2 send a guy 2 castale the buy a new heroo tarde and give 2 my main again and then attack him out of castle so i just toke my main 2 castle and upgraded but not all my guys can go with main b/c some were upgarded and some wernt so i toke the stong guys into castle and upgraded and then tiome was up ... he attackt i still has a biiger army then him but he had better spells  (chain, resrect, any many more) he blockt my door so i can't leave the castle , and that made me lose game b/c i had mass haste + 2 speed . but it didnt help b/c i could not leave . i had water book and my water ord was by my aother hero b/c i was all neversos about the time and didt tarde it .
any way he won me and castle and i didnt bulid the escape tonle so i could not run and i lost game.
i think that even if i would had the same army out side of castle i would be able 2 win with haste and i had balista and expet artilry that did about 400 damage but in castle u cant use it,.

Pandora, Iīm sorry, it was not my intention to make your name public in this thread. Itīs just still the most memorable game for me, and I couldnīt resist to post it when I saw the thread.

When I evaded a battle between our armies, you were not very nice to me, because you had your son to take care of, and thought I was just wasting valuable time. We talked about it later, when temper had settled, and I think it was okay with both of us.
The wraith scoutsī attacks, as I remember them, didnīt take very long. I think they were all over in less than 5 minutes. I just pressed W and D keys and casted a spell when I could.

Yea Andi, the player who gets better hero and better artifacts deserves the win, and tactics that try to find a way to work around that are unfair.

No, itīs called "I canīt lose" (one o) when you play a necro clan and make a no hitīn run rule. Or when you play might heroes only, and walk around telling everyone that tactics based on strong spells are supposed to be dishonorable. That is what we all know to be "I canīt lose". And thatīs why you are on my noplay list for a long time already.

Eeeeewwww....

You guys use the seven wraith stack desperation spell point drain?  Yeah, technically it's legal, but amongst all the people I play with that's considered to be very wimpy, and downright annoying too.  Ranks right up there with Conflux players who upgrade to Sprites first thing and then their first turns take hours while they fight wandering monsters using wait-attack-retreat-repeat. (Dungeon players sometimes do the same with Harpy Hags.)  Nothing artistic about any of that, it's just lame.  Kind of silly that in some cases seven wraiths can drain more magic than a hundred or even a thousand, too.  I hope that enough lessons have been learned at 3do that Heroes IV won't have so many little techinicalities that can be exploited, making it all a matter of actual tactics and strategy.  Of course, not that it would matter if they never do get around to making internet multiplayer an option...

I can't remember losing a game specifically to the wraith bomb, but I can think of several times, one time in particular, where a game went on for hours longer than it otherwise would have just because of that.  Especially when it's tight and a might hero can't be called in.  A shame, too, as really tight games are the most fun when people don't resort to such lame-o tactics.

LOL, I canīt believe that you are as stupid as your posts. Yes, the game was initially meant to be named "Heroes of Might", and then a bug crept in that made heroes with an emphasis on spellcasting. Andiīs creating his own little world where he is supposed to be its best player.

If you are not able to cope with unusual tactics, then you should try to learn more about the game instead. Itīs not much of a problem to send scouts into a cloud of darkness to find out about what the opponent is planning. When such a tactic is revealed, it isnīt of much use anymore, there are 1000 ways to work around it.

But of course that would require too much thinking. Much better are the games when people buy a hero, build an army, fight against your Crag Hack, and lose because he deals more damage than they do.

same old

I've never understood why people think that it is no fun or dishonorable to use the specials of certain towns. Necro Wraiths were made to drain spell points, since they won't be a whole lotta use in your army grouped, why not use them as scout raiders or however? You could complain about Harpies in early attacks or even splitting MG's to get more chance of killling 2 7th level stacks, or using many other creature specials in inventive ways. Personally I think anyone who gets in main battle without at least 1 scout already probing enemy main is asking for it. Especially near a cloud of darkness. Sometimes you aren't in offensive position, but then you make the enemy come to you and can usually do it the same way unless they have D-door or a really quick logistics hero. Even then, if you know what is coming, you can use your scouts as a sort of traveling shield which your enemy has to use movement to go around since you can't shield all sides of your hero, but using terrain to block etc, you can often make them miss in their alloted movement, or at least force them to attack a scout shielding and then you know if you should surrender right away or have a chance to fight it out.

I know strategies I've used would piss some people off, but only because they didn't think that I would do it. For instance the first game I ever played on Hourglass I had a lousy hero and my 2 Tower took too long to build. I knew opponent would break thru first so I built 3 hero as strong as I could, and built mage guild in 2nd town where opponent would go last. Wouldn't you know it, but he breaks thru first with way stronger her0 than me and sends some scouts around, while he goes to main town. I only left 7 gremlins there so he'd get arrowed, and town empty. Meanwhile 1 of my strong hero with 7 genies is hiding in NE corner of map waiting for his main to move away from my town towards 2nd town. Another hero is eliminating his scouts, but with only some gremlins and genies, making sure to stay out of range of his main. Well, he knows my army is holed up in 2nd town he figures getting reinforcements or trying to upgrade, so he turns to it knowing he will reach it before day 7. Soon as day 6 arrives I've got my NE corner hero 1 day outside my old town, and my other hero what looks like 1 day and a half journey from his town in the south, I drop the gremlins and now with expert logistics I just gained from killing his scouts and only master genies I've got enough speed to reach his town in 1 turn. Day 7 he attack me and after a long battle I lose, but do alot of damage to him. I didn't leave many arties on that hero knowing I would lose them, so he mostly gains some experience. He asks for my surrender... why? Game isn't over- I take his main town with my southern hero who has t-portal which I learned in my 2nd town guild(built 2nd town guild specifially I didn't want him chance to get t-portal before my NE hero had chance to retake my main town), buy all his creatures on day 1. Portal to my main town and buy all my creatures there, and then attack that turn since with expert log and 2 log arty plus master genie speed I reach him in 1 turn.

Yeah he is mad, but that was the only way I could win, I see it as only way early on in game and I plan for it. How is that dishonroable? I didn't do hit&run, just had a good strategy. He could have stopped me many times if he gurded his main town better, or retook my main town instead of attacking my 2nd town which he would have still beat a week later anyway. I planned for him to make mistakes which if he hadn't I would have still lost. That's the fun in the game to me...

I've been beaten before by almost the same sort of thing. Some of the best games ever...
