1) Pray that you get easy neutrals.
2) Try to stay alive and pick yours fights carefully till you have a better level/army. May not do much on the first week.
3) Restart in case of failure.
Sylvan isn't a great creeper so you will inevitably be slower than other factions. Only things you can do in beginning is get sprites and arcanes, the latter only in week 2. You may miss the wood from other buildings but it's worth the trouble.

@zaio-baio: so was creeping on heroic easier than haven? [I ask because maybe you've played haven more than sylvan but I dunno...]

with sylvan you can defend yourself easy against human players with haven...the key is to get the treants and unicorns....this 2 first and at hero skills luck and defence maybe light magic too.....that's a start for me with sylvan vs haven...

if u start with unicorn + some pixies + some archers - perfect
i play with heaven more, but sylvan just cant stop to scream my name - week 3, 7 major arties and gues what - 7 different pieces of Power of dragons :X
P.S
defending isnt an option - the more heaven farms/trains the worse for you

on creeping it is not sylvan the faction who do it best....you have a good creeping with haven and necro pretty good with sylvan and dungeon and maybe academy, and bad creeping with fortress and inferno!!but inferno and fortress are one of the best factions...the sylvan moment is at 14-20 level.....

inferno may be strong at lvl 20+ only if compared to a magic faction without dark ...

inferno it's not my favourite faction they're Academy and Fortress/Sylvan....but i realize that inferno are pretty weak in the early game...because their lack of ranged units their creeping is pretty weak your help will be Deleb with her ballista.....but on the mid-later game inferno is indeed one of the best factions....

Actually it's not all that weak, only issues are shooters/casters. Deleb isn't even necessary to creep effectively though warmachines are recommended if you want an easier way. There are many tricks to clear neutrals that seem too much for your weak army.

Nature's Luck and Regeneration/Haste
I've been playing long games recently, 8 hard AI so that I can learn how to play the endgame. One thing I want to do is find a build that will get me Nature's Luck. But my hero almost ALWAYS loses his chance when the game REFUSES to give me abilities that lead toward it. The skillwheel says the minimum level to get it is 25, but the 'luck of the draw' always takes me somewhere between 18-29 before FORCING me to take an ability that disqualifies me from getting it.
Is there some sort of order I need to follow? This last time, I avoided the ranger abilities at first because they were always showing up, but after 10th level I never got a ranger ability option again. How on earth do you 'trick' the random number generator into letting you get your ultimate skill!?
---
In completely unrelated news, the latest expansion/patch (not sure which) has yielded an amazing new strategy for Sylvans: the spell Regeneration.
It would probably get shut down by a human opponent, but here is my strategy:
Bring Pristine Unicorns and Emerald Dragons, 1 stack each. If you have more than 20 unicorns split them into 2 stacks.
1. Cast Regeneration on Dragons. At Expert level this restores 190 HP (resurrecting heal) every time the dragons ACT. The Unicorns get it as well, but with less regenerated.
2. Cast Haste on Dragons. At expert level (I had the dragon wing equipment as well) your dragons will now have initiative of 22, unicorns 17.
3. Cast Endurance, Righteous might, whatever else you can fit in before you need to renew your regen/haste.
4. Win.
My dragons regenerated a MASSIVE amount of health, whenever they or the unicorns were in danger I had them retreat to relative safety and then use the "wait" command. Every time they wait, they heal, and you can issue the wait command twice as often as regular actions.
And as you keep picking up Light spells, it just gets better! Resurrection can cover any mistakes you make(for emergencies only). And then, when your enemy has killed several dozen regenerating dragons and unicorns, you break out the Divine Retribution for massive amounts of damage. And this is a game where I accidentally missed out on Imbue Arrow and Rain of Arrows, those would have made it even better.
I discovered this after every OTHER unit in my army had been killed, I had nothing but 14 unicorns and 6 dragons but I proceeded to knock down 4 AI generals in a row, followed by a defended city without a leader. I lost about 2-3 unicorns each fight, but only because they surrendered while I was healing. In all that time, I never had a stack fall down dead.
In short, a heal that activates based on initiative=hilarious win sauce. And if your emerald dragons have less than 20 initiative, you're probably doing it wrong.

I'm afraid that's the way the game is, even if you are extra careful the game can always mess you up in an absolute ability build. I'd avoid.
Regeneration and haste with sylvan is a pretty sick combination, especially if you also have last stand Add high druids in the mix and you get 2 dragons back each time they act.

I only ever tried to get an ultimate once to see what it was like & needed to use mentor to eventually get it.
Also if your stacks were really in danger (vs AI), you might even just use defend command & let retaliations & regen & mass spells help you first

Is this a good skill choice for Sylvan? I'm playing on normal difficulty, probably large/normal map, no idea about opponent. I don't know the requirements for some perks, so this might not work. I'm playing with Ossir, so his perks are already listed. ??? means I don't know what perk to have.
Luck-Magic Resistance, Soldier's Luck, Resourcefulness
Leadership-Recruitment, Battle Commander, Aura of Swiftness
Attack-Battle Frenzy, Nature's Wrath, Retribution
Defense-Vitality, Stand Your Ground, ???
Logistics-Pathfinding, Warpath, ???
What do you guys think?

you realise how many levels you will be when you get all those skills???
By then you will surely know who your opponent is PLUS Don't you look at tavern?
This thread itself has lots of info along with the other sylvan guide thread started by Falkenstein...I'll just say sylvan is not a might only faction & enlightenment is great at high levels
