If it's not even going to be powerful in the late game then what's the point?
you can allways modify the divine assistant to make it powerful in the late game, if you wish. it could e.g. grant some bonus to the troops.

as for the problem that people want to play with a legion of titans, i can understand their point of view. this will indeed be a tradeoff between immortality and getting the feeling that.. that you are fighting with a legion of titans.

I would be glad if there were following dragons in the game>

Ghost Dragon
Red Dragon
Black Dragon
White Dragon

4 is a good number for different dragons. There is variety, but it\s not overwhelming.

And they would all have unique and very different specialities, but it would probably fit if you couldn\t cast magic of any of them. I also think that while it would be cool for some creatures in Homm 5 to have upgrades, dragons shouldn\t have them. All dragon's should be neutral or evil, never good. And maybe it would be cool if you couldn\t buy them from towns, but dwellings only.

Some ideas of different dragon skills>

Ghost Dragon > Dragon. Undead. Immune to magic. May sacrifice friendly undead troops to restore hit points and lives.

Red Dragon> Dragon. Immune to magic. Fire attack. Attack dispels all benefitial spells from target. Creates 50 gold per day.

Black Dragon> Dragon. Immune to magic. 2-square fire attack. 50% greater damage gainst other dragons.

White Dragon> Dragon. Spell casting in combat is disabled.

All dragons should be quite rare, you shouldn/t be able to recruit more than 1 each week, maybe even 1 in month and they should be the 4 best creatures in the game.

These were my views. Please comment

Dajek, I respect your opinion, but having these dragons in the game... is not good...

I think color doesn't change anything... their names should be different... and their descriptions:

Bone Dragon - Skeletal dragon from the enchanted dragon graveyards in the undead town of Necros Tal (Necropolis). Fearful creatures strikes making the enemies runaway with disaster, trying to harm it with arrows and failing.

Black Dragon - The master of all dragons... head of the living ones and of the dead... It faith led him to be chaotic even if his thoughts were to remain neutral (Underworld/Asylum). Three-times Defended against any trials to harm, he drew its breath killing everybody in his way.

Gold Dragon - The magical inhabitant of the grove... the only allied with elven light of Fir-Kalor (Elvendale/Preserve). His magical forces allow him to strike with elven magic and dragon's fire... his blood is pure and his thoughts are light - maximum morale is with him.

Thunder Dragon - The controller of most of the magical elements... His faith is to be a fighter in the light side of magical beasts and wizards. His powers make him immune to magic, allows him to shake the very foundations of earth: earthquakes, tornadoes, firestorms and tsunamis.

That is only my opinion and an extract from my proposals. Best of luck

wouldn't it be better to have the thunderbird instead of the thunder dragon? thunderbird's special abilities would probably not include earthquakes, though.

i think i wouldn't have anything much against a frost dragon. the nature dragon is a nice mythological creature. i don't know if those two would fit in any town, though.

A frost (or azure or blue or saphire) dragon would be cool. Freezing 2-square attack maybe.

I think, that a realism approach will be a fine thing to do with dragons; i mean, all that types of dragons that you are talking about are, the most of them, created or involved in some kind of magic. If you think of dragons like a natural, biological creature, you should classify them for their place of born, races; that they can be distiguished by their different anatomies like any other type of creature(we do distinguish between dogs races dont we?).

This is my opinion, if you like those hiper magical gem dragons I think it´s okay, they´re pretty cool.

I'd be happy to see such a dragon (that white one in the clouds) in a town of Nature (Like Faerie Dragons) or in a town (which I think would be the best) of Order...

It would represent a white/arctic dragon - cold immunity, breath attack; cold-based attack; freeze.

P.S. Good pic

dont like the idea of having too many dragon in heroes game, but arctic dragon sound perfect replacement for golem dragon,i really didnt like that one,its a great unit but dont fit into heroes fantasy world, imo.beside that,we have few fire based units(effrets, fire elementals and phoenix) but only ice demons are cold creatures.

Big new idea! instead of having a dragon in a castle, what about having them in a few castles, but only having one type of dragon available in the castle... but there would be 9 special mountains that alow you to upgrade your dragon.

Dark Mountain: Drake Lonley mountain
Death Mountain: Bone Dragon Lonley mountain
Fire mountain: Red Dragon Lonley mountain

Waterfall mountain: Blue Dragon Ice cliffs :White Dragon Holy mountain
Treasure Mountain: Gold Dragon Holy mountain
Forest mountain: Fairy dragon Holy mountain

Holy Mountain: Angel Dragon
Lonley mountain: Devil Dragon

Explanation:
Drake - like long, black dragon.
Angel Dragon - Blue and white, with angel whings and beak
Devil Dragon - Skeletal red and black wings, pichfork tail

some nice ideas.

heres my points:

1. Dont think this will work, but ill say it anyway. in fact, i dont even agree with this. But whatever. Dragons are solitary beings. Maybe they shouldnt be made in towns, only found in certain caves. they should be much, much, much more powerful, but cannot be used in conjuction to each other. So one army can have one dragon, sort of like a hero. Because they are solitary.

2. this is not an idea, just info. Dragons can be hoarders (lie on treasure), or not hoarders (dont lie on treasure). Hoarding, is a survival technique. The only weak point (besides the eyes, which are too small and should not be looked into) on a dragon is its belly which is soft, but hoarders have the gold and jewels stick to its belly when they lie there, which makes sort of a protective layer. this came about because the dragons were attracted to the shiny colours, and lay down on them. These dragons would have survived an attack, whereas the dragon who did not have this protection would be easier to kill, so most of the non hoarders may be wiped out. That is why offering gold and treasure to a dragon is a great thing. sort of like natural selection.

heres a hoarder.

http://www.gavinmundy.freeserve.co.uk/pix/dragon.jpg heres a NON hoarder.  (click the image, its against copywright laws to post it or copy it from Gavin Mundy)

the hoarder is much more likely to survive an attack from nasty spear throwing knights with years of experience, pictured here (again, click the url)

http://www.gavinmundy.freeserve.co.uk/dragoncanyon.htm see what i mean?

great thread!

Dingo,

It would seem that you will indeed see a "Spider Dragon" in your game after all.

I still love this thread as much as I did when I created it.
