Galthran vs Isra
I was like replaying the game I lost with the necros with my brother amd I saw that he buyed Galthran. Then suddenly an ideea came to me. Which hero would be more valueable. Galthran( with speciality Skeletons) or Isra( with speciality Necromancy... I've ecluded Vidomina thinking that a Death Knight is better for it's way of distributing primary skills)? All people I asked said the thing I said before too: Isra is the best necro! Then again, analyze this:
Thinking that Galthran at level 20 would give to his 5000 skeletons a major bonus over his adeverasary. But meanwhile he had 5000 skeletons Isra, his enemy, would have 5250 skeletons(not a major adcantage ain't?). Also the fact that Galthran receives about 50-80 skeletons at the start of the game would give him a major advantage.

Isra gets 100% more skels at level 20, if there are no artifacts or necromancy amplifiers (I think).
At the start, Isra gets the same amount, but starts with less. If we view the level as constantly increasing, isra gets (0+100)/2 = 50% more skeletons.
However, Galthran gets the speed bonus, as well as the stats, and there is just 1 galthran, but 2 nec specialists. You also get alot of skels from 2nd towns, heroes, necromancy generals/captains, so Galthran would be the best choice.
It is of course a matter of taste.

Not 100%. His base necromancy skill is doubled. Which means 60% if expert necro without amps and arties.

Yes, but since Galtrhan gets 30%, 60% is 100% more.

As i described earlier in my "How does...necromancy skil..." thread, the speciality "necromancy" loses itīs advantge the higher the level of the hero gets.
Reason is, no hero can gain more than 100% necromancy.
So if galthran would have 3 towns and 2 of the 3 necro arties, he would have 85% necro skill....of 100% max....so at the end, i would prefer galthran (+1 speed and + 1 attack and defense for the skellies isnīt that bad.. ) over Isra or Vidomina...especially on fixed maps, where the fights arenīt that much....or on really hard templates like extreme or extreme2.

Angelito, you are wrong... wrong about Galtran... He gives skells +1spd +1att +1def at level 1... but at level 12, I'd presume its closer to +1 spd +3att +3def...
This makes me want to ask u to make a How does specialty creature work... I know it works by percentages, cuz when u reach the breakpoint level, of a creature with stats like 8 att 5 def, then the bonus will be +2+1 or +3+2 or +4+3, etc.

Yeap... Totally right there Angel, but you see... playing on an XL makes it very, very weird. Simply beacuse on an XL after plaing, lets say about 6 months, you can have more then 10000 skeletons... while Galtran.. well he is outnumebered... with much.. The problem is... what do you prefer? More HP( rhat means you can take more damage) and damage(meaning that you can make damage) or you go for that +1 speed and attack/defense. Take it like this... 5% of 10000$ is awfully much...

I would never want a necro hero as main, because of the wasted slot for necromancy skill. Use those babies to make skelletons, but take some other hero as main.
And yes, I know this wasn't the question of this thread =P
If I /had to choose between those 2, I'd definetely pick Galthran as main.

hey dalai-lama, we are talking real heroes3 games now. Not "lets see who can build most stuff in month6 and then fight"
Haile makes sense though Galthran makes an ok main IMO because of faster skels.

What are you talking about Haile? That necromancy skill is the source power of all necros. That is without no doubt the skill that makes necro so good. Can't you see those numbers 7000 skeletons!!! 85% of the enemy stacks... that means at 100 gremlins you get 85 sketelons!!! Those skeletons come only in 3 weeks from a castle necro. Maybe you're right... but that only when you have expert diplomacy. Then you get 100 of 100.

Haile is right and wrong... what he means is he uses some necro hero to do the fights that provide skells and he uses another hero to do the rest and that other hero is his main...
But well, necro hero's attribute distribution is quite nice and also... leadership is more useless than necro and there are quite a few skills more useless than necro... so u have to take a hero with a specialty and 2 good skills(or one if he starts with one)... I think that necro heroes are good, tho I admit if you get lucky certain heroes are great heroes when playing necro.

Um... Shai-Hulud? That's not exactly how the necromancy skill works. Go look up the apropriate thread by Angelito for details.

on fixed maps with altar of sacrifice (almost any), necro - as well as dungeon and inferno - heroes are no real option.
on randoms I never tried galthran as main, mostly because necro was forbidden hehe. still I prefer 8 useful skills plus offense, armorer, ballista, log, or even resistance special to 7 useful skills plus skellies speed +1. not to forget that in week 1 & 2 (most important time of the game imo) I don't want to spend 2 levels for a skill that doesnt help you against the map.
but as usual, it's mostly a question of taste =)

i'm sorry i don't see the real importance of this thread u lost to ur brother that's history so what ?
big deal just a fight it won't really matter now which heroe you chose is it?
so what's the point discusing it no offence though just saying there is no point discusing this issu with so much vigure cause it dosen't really matter that much not now anywho ?
but if u must know i think the more the merier more hp more damage taking more damage dealing , 1 + speed dosen't really matter with haste .

Sorry, but playing 6 month on a XL map is ONLY possible on a single player map, not against human opponents. If everything works normal, u will NEVER reach month 3 on this sized map.
And the main fact is, u wont do ALL your fights with your main only, but with 8 heroes normaly. If u r lucky, u get 3 necro-heroes week one. Perhaps u buy a 4th one on start of week 2 and dismiss one of the other 8th heroes (or use him as garrison hero), then u will have 4 necro heroes, which will gain skellies after fighting.
What haile73 points out here is, that necromancy wont help u a dime in endfight, or in the fight against big zoneguards. But the skellies itself surely do.
And i think the difference between the amount of skellies raised by isra or vidomina on the one hand, and galthran on the other hand wont be that great, coz as i mentioned, u wont make ALL those level1 and level2 monster fights with your main, but the stronger fights, to get more experience for the main. But against 40 unicorns, isra wont raise that much more skellies than galthran would......
And for those who want to know how the necromancy skill works exactly, read here: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=11784

I don't mind the math, but i prefer Galthran. I really like the starting "armorer". The speed bonus is just too nice for these slow legions of skeletons.
