Hmm... me? I like Night Elves. But I think Undead is the best race. Though, I use Orcs most of the time. And some told me that Human is the best.

I've been a sucker for undeads since some time, so Scourge is the way to go for me, although I initially focused on Night Elves since I like ranged attacks.
But all in all, all races are good.

It's been said before but... there is a perfect balance among factions
P.S. of all the 4 races only an undead player has yet to win a major tournament (Grubby won for orcs; Sky and ToD for the alliance; Creolophus and Moon for nightelves; FoV, Sweet and another - I forgot his name- are very good undead players, but they haven't won yet)

I know Sweet was a monster in Battlegrounds in WoW. If you saw them, you knew it was going to be painful, really painful. If it is the same one that is. Er maybe I should say when you DIDN'T see Sweet, cause you may get like a 2 second glimpse (IF you were lucky) before you were respawning hehe.

Humans are the best, by far. Archmage is also a fantastic hero, the other heroes are not that bad, especially Blood Mage and the draf guy, but the technologies, buildings, huge defenses of humans. They're invincable, but i don't find them fun to play. I find orcs fun, and still quite strong.
Oh, and Dark Ranger's charm can get your race the upgrades of any race, just charm a worker.
When all 4 races are melted...Now that's the best race.
Dark Ranger > Warcraft III
I love the Dark Ranger.

Humans are no doubt the strongest race. But I always enjoyed playing as the Night Elves and Undead, makes me step out of reality for a time.
Seriously though, I find the passive abilities of both races to be as simple as it is useful. Take the Nigh Elves' natural ability to blend in (become totally invisible as long as they're still) at night, proves to be useful for a quiet and deadly surprise attack. The Undead's ability to regenerate lost HP in barren land/blight is helpful too when an Obsidian Statue isn't around.
And I like both races' units' response when you click on them.

What is the best race?
...All of them and none of them, it all depends on the view of the player.
Personally this is how I find it:
Undeads - The easy to play race that newbies can latch onto and play decent with. I find them the ones that are easiest to win with, but that's cause they require no brain to play good with. When you start understanding the mechanism of this game they are not really all that good but you can still play with them.
Orcs - Strong units that looks awesome and they can...they got strong units. I personally never figured out how to play orcs. I have seen other peoples tactics and I've understood how they play them and win, but I never managed to do good with the green skins myself.
Night Elf - I got only one word people: "How?" just "How?" I just cannot see how one is suppose to play this snows and win with them yet I constantly get my arse whooped by them.
Humans - Because I always find us humans boring I usually do not play with them(that counts for any game). However I would say they are the closest I get to a 'best' race. They certainly are the ones I win most with, but it has been a long time since I last played this game so yeah.

If you've already got it installed on your computer, you don't need the CD now
That and if you have your CD key, you can register it online and just download it and install w/o the CD.
