I've only read the Han solo trilogy and they were pretty entertaining.(repetitive though)

I had heard that a series of books after ROTJ dealth with Luc's wife (who also had knowledge of the force) slowly turning to the path of the dark side.
If they had twins and one was a boy, this would fall back into the "father and son" theme that we've seen all along...  There was also the topic of Luc's Jedi academy and the rebuilding of the Jedi...

Personnaly I think movies could be interesting but I think there are alot of dissapointed fans (after 1-3) and they would be reluctant to accept new movies openly...

IF they make the tv series and it's a success, I could see the director maybe wanting to explore the universe after LOTR.

BTW, R A Salvatore, author of the Drizzt novels penned one of the New Jedi Order books Vector Prime. Without giving the game away too much, pleanty of SW fans were annoyed because he did what no author yet dare do, he kills off a major character. Strangely to my knowledge he's not been asked to pen another
Hey PH...I find it hard to believe that no authors have ever killed off a major character in the multitude of novels that develop the Star Wars universe!

It's so weird that none of the authors would do that, considering how many main characters met their demise between Episodes 1 to 6. Here's who I could remember:

EPISODE I:
Qui-Gon Jinn & Darth Maul

EPISODE II:
Shmi Skywalker & Jango Fett

EPISODE III:
Count Dooku, General Grievous, Mace Windu, Nute Gunray, & Padmé Amidala

EPISODE IV:
Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru & Obi-Wan Kenobi

EPISODE V:
No one

EPISODE VI:
Boba Fett, Jabba the Hutt, Yoda, Emperor Palpatine, & Anakin Skywalker

Feel free to develop the list any further, if I have forgotten someone, but I don't see what the big problem with killing off main characters would be. Afterall, death is a part of life...even in the Star Wars universe, right?!

I was referring to authors in the sense of the extended universe authors, i.e. not Lucas, and not the books that were written for the films. By major character I meant one of the major good characters from the old trilogy, i.e. one from Han, Leia, Luke, Chewie etc.

The extended universe books go through 20 odd books before any of the authors had the guts to kill off one of those heroes from Episodes 4-6.

Sorry, I just have to rant...

I had originally not planned to post anymore before leaving, but a dramatic incident this evening forced me into changing my mind.

You see, tonight I, my sister and her boyfriend had a Star Wars marathon, i.e. we watched all those restored and "extended" versions of Episodes IV-VI.

Everything was going just fine, and I was starting to wonder why people have such aversions against these things. I mean, the sound is better, and so is the pictures. Some scenes are added, and most of the horrid original puppets are remade as digital animations, which at least looks somewhat better.

Han Solo had stepped on Jabba's tail. The silly litte band in Jabba's palace had played their annoying thing. The Empire had been thwarted. Gleeful scenes were shown from all the places we love. Celebrations in the Cloud city. Parties in Mos Eisly. Joy on Naboo. A tiny Gungan shouting "Wesa won!". They even celebrated on Coruscant.

Cahnge of scene, by use of fireworks. Back on the forest moon of Endor. The small Ewoks are rejoycing too: Horns are blown, campfires are made (on one of them, the remains of Anakin Skywalker is ablaze), dancing is committed. Chewbacca is covered in Ewoks. So is R2 and 3PO. Han and Leia's kisses are interrupted by the arrival of Luke. Everyone hugs, and everything is fine.

But then! Then, suddenly, or rather slowly, really, the three of them turns towards the forest. And there, just inside the range of the light of the campfires, stands the "ghosts" of three Jedi Masters. Obi-Wan Kenobi, in the shape of Sir Alec Guiness is there. The little green puppet known as Yoda is there. But where's Sebastian Shaw, a.k.a. the original Anakin Skywalker?

He is nowhere to be seen. 'Cos to the right of Obi-Wan, there's only Haydn Christensen.

If I'd had a shotgun, I would have shot the TV. If George Lucas was in the closest vincinity, I'd have strangled him. As it were, my sister had to wrestle her teddy bear out of my hands, to prevent me from ripping its head of.

I mean, Haydn Christensen!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Why not Ewan McGregor, then? Or while we're at it, Sentaor Palpatine?

Here we have a gathering of grand Jedi Masters, and Lucas manage to squize Haydn into that lot? What did he possibly do to deserve such honours? And what did Sebastian Shaw do to deserve being replaced by this snotty actor?

That's the actors. Now, to the story part.
I hope that most of you will agree with me whaen I say that Young Anakin wasn't much of a Jedi. Sure, he was powerful. But most of all, he was arrogant, ambitious, narrow minded, hateful, covetous, and inconsiderate. How does that make one a good Jedi? Palpatine/Sidious/Emperor posessed all those "qualities". He also was powerful in the Force. So, why wasn't he there as well?

God, this thing ruined my entire evening...

Rough guess I'd say because Alec Guiness was too much of a presence in the original trilogy to remove him from the scene. We don't see Sebastian Shaw hardly at all in the flesh so to speak.

I also heard that Lucas changed the scene with Greebo to Han shooting after Greebo whereas in the original he shoots first. Not seen the DVDs to check that though.

another "wonderful" addition...
Greedo shoots first (missed Han at point blank range by the way) and then Han greeses him...

Terje,
once again... you're bang on...
the original idea behind DarthVader was that he was this GREAT Jedi but was stirred astray...
Where is this "great" Anakin Skywalker???
we sure as hell don't see him in episodes 1-3!!

Rant on my man... rant on.
