Hi.

Without going too deep into personal stuff, I'm a guy from Finland, who played HOMM2 & 3 a lot as a teenager. I never fully stopped afterwards, even with the flaws and limitations that the game has, since it (well both 2 & 3) has the magic. I think that a map can make huge difference in the scenario being good or just average. I have tried WoG, but I usually enjoy HOMM3 most on it's original form. I also like to make maps time to time for HOMM3, just for myself. I have had quite a few over years ranging from pure bad to, I guess average (nothing too fancy), enjoyable even. Too many times my HDD has crashed down and I've lost all of the bunch (I'm not really master of backup copies). At the current computer I've got 3x XL maps that I've made (for SoD). 4th map is 95% ready (some rebalancing etc.), and a problem considering it actually lead me to register the forums, but I will continue about the problem on an other topic.

Well, other than that, I'm enthusiastic with rock and old heavy metal music, and occasionally like some 80's music of the other genres - I also like to collect heavy metal albums, "the good bad movies" (DVD/Blu-Ray). Of both I write sometimes blog reviews (again, purely on low amateur-level).

As for games, I've always though PC to have widest variety of the most interesting and in-depth games. Consoles do not lose on multiplayer quality of the games, though (in my opinion). Some of my favorites are Fallout 1 & 2, HOMM 2 & 3, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Might And Magic 6-8, and Jagged Alliance 2 (the winner!) on PC. On console I like many "easily accessible" games which you can play with your friends live in the same room, such as racing games, hockey, but Skyrim might be my favorite on console (although it's far from perfect). On top of that, NES and SNES games gives me nostalgic vibes, and still have few fun games to play on 2-player mode. From time to time I, and usually my bro, like to play Double Dragon 2 or 3 (I actually like it), TMNT II: Arcade Game and such on NES.

Nice to be aboard.

Btw. Dungeon rules!

Hi guys, I am very sorry if my post is a bit in a wrong place, but it seems like this forum doesn't allow new users to post until they comment something...

I've been playing Heroes 3.5 WOG when I was a student, about 10 years ago and wanted to give it a try again. Right now I am looking for a particular map which was included by default in the build of WOG which I had back then. Need your help to find it. I went literally through every map on maps4heroes and couldn't find it.
Here is a short description - the map was XL and stared underground on a left upper corner, and I had 1 castle, the one with yellow dragons. The feature of the map was that I had to deal with legions of dragons and super strong heroes on my way to the upper world. I couldn't choose from any other castles, where was only 1 option. It was pretty much impossible to get through without having >200 of high level species and very advanced magic / tactics. Map was very well thought and all the spells like teleport were given at an exact point where you can not do any further without them. Never finished it back then, since it was plainly taking too long to raise an army to fight against legions of crystal dragons and such. Will appreciate any help with spotting the name of the map.

I understand how vague the description is but that pretty much all I remember. Tried all maps in the WOG version I could get these days and there is nothing like that there.

Will really appreciate any suggestions from veterans of the game.
Thank you in advance!!!

Voucher Codes

Hi, I came here after following a message on the Might and magic heroes online game, where it states on the homepage :-
To celebrate the launch we have an exclusive set of special codes to give away. Entering one of these codes into your game profile gives you an exclusive set to change the appearance of your hero. The codes will be posted after launch.

I can't see these codes anywhere. Have they been issued yet or are we waiting for them a bit longer?

Many thanks

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction

Thanks Storm Giant for showing me where the codes were. I had tried searches and looked in the first thread for Newcomers. I played the test phase right through the main story line and achieved about 6 levels of Dragon knight rank before I left the game in May.

I am a big fan of all the HOMM series, from Heroes 2 right through. I have played all the titles and add ons. Looking forward to seeing Heroes 7. I enjoyed Heroes 6 and Legacy X. The previous online version of Kingdoms was fantastic and I was sad to see it go.

I hope I will still be playing through the forthcoming titles for the next decade. Keep up the good work.

Forum is for me a great source of information for my website about Heroes of Might and Magic 3/WoG/HotA/VCMI.

Thank you for your amazing work

My favourite HOMM are III and V. I´m specially interested in HOTA and would love to share some ideas with you to improve the mod. Where can I write them?

Thanks

Hi everyone, my name is Drusain. I'm a very recent fan of the HOMM series, and was introduced to it by watching an LPer play parts of H3 and H5 not even a year ago. I picked up H5 and loved it a LOT more than I expected. Great music, good artwork, albeit a cheesy storyline but the writers at least clearly recognized that it was silly, and I really liked the "feel" of character progression in H5.

I picked up H6 and, like many people, was disappointed in many things in it. The artwork was superb as well as the music (even if a lot of the good ones were just remastered). I really did not like the way the story was told though, nor did I like a lot of parts of the story. But, as long as I didn't focus too much on that, it was a good experience. Except for the bugs, but I'll spare you

I've started H3, though I admit it's difficult to play. Not because of the graphics, but because of the UI. I might not be aware of all of the hotkeys available, but I take a long time distinguishing things on the map and I forget to build a lot because the castle screens are shoved to the right. But with some getting used to, I can definitely get into it. I haven't quite even finished with "Long Live the Queen" yet though

The music in this series is fantastic. I've been playing H3 and H6 snow themes while I'm working on my own game design. I didn't realize how good 6/8 time was in a winter setting

I was invited here by "shop47737D938" from the Ubisoft Might and Magic 7 forums after I wrote a lot about my feelings of the creature lineups of H7 Dungeon Looking forward to checking out these forums and keep up with the HOMM series. Having a lot of fun with it!

Welcome Drusain! I suggest you to give it a try to H2 as well, when you have time. It may be old, yes, but it is a never aging classic. Every Heroes fan should play it for once. You could try H1 as well, to realize that H2 was maybe the best sequel in PC gaming history.

Hello Everyone,

Name is Ramchandra and I am from India. I am a software professional specialized in Oil & Gas. I started playing Heroes2 from 1997 (maybe 98). Back then I had black & white monitor. I remember first time I played it. It took me three days to complete the map and I played it with stopping for most essential breaks only

I remember one incident decade back. I was playing game at evening. My late father was sitting on chair beside me watching TV. After it got late he left and went to bedroom to sleep. I kept playing unaware of time, until it was almost morning. Father woke up and came out, he said what's in that game that you started playing as soon as getting up? I did not say a word

I am still addicted to the game. Just finished original campaign three days back for the umpteenth time. In 1997 -98 Operating systems were compatible with the game. Later on as new OS came it became difficult to run. Last OS it worked on was win XP. I now have to run it on the virtual machine running XP.
Whenever new OS comes, my first test is to run heroes on it.

I have tried Heroes 3, 4, 5 but none matched the magic of Heroes 2. No 3 was good but graphics were not comparable to 2 which were exceptionally good.
Planning to buy version VI now. How is it compared to 2?

Regards

Ram

I have played H2 and H3 since the 90s when I was 11. I stopped playing in 2003 when I moved out of the my home country.
Picked it back up 4 years ago, and now I like to make maps.
Great to find a thriving community of fans.

Hi everyone,

I'm Methven and I'm from Australia. I have been visiting this forum for several months and I created an account a while back, but haven't been very active. It's great that there's such a vibrant forum dedicated to my favourite game series, and I've enjoyed reading people's opinions on so many topics.

I have loved the Heroes games for as long as I can remember. Overall I've played all the games to varying degrees but mostly H3 and H5.
Rampart/Sylvan is my favourite faction and I've always been a supporter of the 'good' teams
I'm really looking forward to H7 and hoping it can be a great game.

Thanks!

Hello, Heroes Community.

I have been playing Heroes of Might and Magic for quite some time (since 2003, more exactly). I started when my mother brought me Heroes III; she was a computer science teacher and her students where playing the game during classes.

My favorite faction throughout the series has always been the Stronghold, and my favorite character is Crag Hack, regardless of his incarnation.

I am looking forward to meeting you and I hope I will have something interesting to add to this forum.

Hello, everyone!

I already posted something in other threads, but apparently it is protocol for newcomers like me to introduce themselves here, and only here. Okay, no problem.

The username I bestowed upon myself is Dies_Irae, Latin for 'Day of Wrath'. A song about the end of times. Why this username, you may ask. Well, I like the song, plus it was a name not yet taken by anyone else. It's always hard to choose something unique or new when there are already so many people present in a community like this. I could have chosen my Might and Magic: Heroes VI in-game username, but I made a different call. Going with this username is the portrait of Asha. I mean, she created the world of Ashan, bet she'll also make it end some day, huh? That's where I play a role, as a Hero of the Apocalypse. My signature as of now contains the first lines of the Dies Irae song, translated in English (in such a way that the rhyme and rythm are kept).

I never played HoMM I and II. It all began with III for me, it must have been around 2004 or 2005. Then there was IV, V, VI and next year VII. The HoMM franchise is definately my favorite, and I'm glad a Windows 8 machine is still able to play III and IV, whereas other games like Empire Earth I have been killed off.

Well, that's about it, I guess. I hope I can contribute something to this community. Thanks for reading this, and as always: Asha uses all!

Hello everyone!
I'm new on here and I'm from UK
I've been playing Heroes of Might and Magic 3 for a few years, but never online, so I decided to play now.
Can anyone help me with that?
So it's HOMM3. I tried to play through GameRanger, although I can't understand a thing in there, people allways going away from my room and uses different terms and acronyms and I can't understand a thing.

I played with my friend through Hamachi, although he was maximum of 1 mile away from me and I think you can't play with a person, who is far away from you through Hamachi? I would like to play with people from around the world, help me, please, how can I do that?
