how do you make, bad heroes better.

Hey guys, i am new to this community, but i've been reading for years.

When i start a new game, i always choose the random bonus, in that case i always get a new castle, with a new hero.

The hero how sucky in your eyes he may be, is always my commander, and main hero.

Some of you says Ufretin sucks, or Crag Hack rocks, but for me a hero is a hero, and it is always something that make him useful.

For an example:

Ufretin has resistance, and luck, and is a dwarf commander.

I add:

Leadership, to balance out luck and morale.
Armorer: To make dwarfs tougher
Offence: To add hitting power.
Earth magic: stone skin, shield, can really make the dawrfs tough
Logistic: Movement
Water magic: For teleport,

in my eyes, he just went form sucky to the ultimate defender.

Another example:

Coronius has wisdom, scholar, and slayer.

i add:

Fire magic: too boost slayer, bloodlust, blind and armageddon.
Sorcery: The fire magic school, is a really offensive one.
logistic: movement
Air magic: for dimension door, fly and other movement spells.
Armorer: To boost The Dragons defence
Offence: To boost the dragons attack power.

nows your turn, rate  those so called "sucky" guys, and make them useful.

How about an alphabetical list ? I'll start:

-Adela becomes a decent hero if you add offense, armor, log and earth.


No, seriously. Any might hero with those skills will do fine and only the specialists of those skills will look down to them. The reason, Ufretin is disliked in your Rampart tavern day1 is the fact, that he brings neither cents nor elves, who are your only week1 fighters. Besides that, he is just another non-specialist ranger.

The part of having to use the starting hero as main could be a nice handicap rule for an arranged match though

ivor is really sucky imo.

He should start with 3 groups of elves, what is that 2 group bs. And give him ext earth on day 1 with slow in spell book. I can't take cons higher than 10 week 1, that's bull.

Solmyr.
I would make him get offense, armourer, logistics, sorcery, air magic.
Then give him all the Tower units including the Titans or the Lords of Thunder if you have WoG.
In the early stages you would probably like to spread the stacks I mean like.
Have maybe 5 Master Gremlins in each slot thing.
And then when you get more improved monsters then make them bunch back up together gain.
Alternatively you could do this with the ArchMagi and spread them out and maybe make it 4 in eahc slot.
But definately make Solmyr have Expert Offense, Expert Armourer, Expert Logistics, Expert Air Magic and try and find the Orb of inhibition I think it's called.
The Artifact which improves the % increase of the Air Magic skill.

And how are the odds Solmyr gets offense and armorer offered?
Donīt try to make a might hero out of a magic one...that wonīt work.

If u play random hero and get a foobom as main then, u have to make the best out of it, thatīs obvious. But no matter what u do, u will never make a "ultimate" hero out of him/her.

If u count on teleport your battledwarves in endfight, u will prolly lose 19 out of 20 fights (even vs AI )

I get it offered quite alot actually Angelito, so yeah I make him get offense and Armourer and then make him get the other skills.
I make him get Sorcery so that his Chain Lightning skill will be increased even further and then I get the Air magic skill so that it will be increased even further then that.
I then get the Orb of Inhibtion I think its called that, and it gets increased FURTHER!!!
Also I can make a magic hero into a might hero whenever I want.

And also how are the odds of any other hero getting these things.
What is the chance of getting sorcery with a might hero, probably about the same BECAUSE I HAVE CHECKED!!!

Orb of inhibition (red orb) is the worst artie u can get with Solmyr. I guess you are talking about orb of firmament.

If someone is 7 feet (approx. 2 meters) tall, learn him playing basketball, donīt make him a jockey..

Yes i meant orb of Firement my bad.
And you should increase the things that he is good at, but if you have enough space to put some more secondary skills, then you should also cover his weak points, then he will be hard to beat as there is no obvious weak points that he has now that he has things that increase the things that he is good at, but now he has the things that increase his weak points.
Would you rather have a strong hero but who has some weak points, and if they are exploited then you will get nailed, or would you rather a medium strength hero who doesnt have any weak points.
If you pick the medium strngth hero then you will probablly win the battle and the WAR!!!

As already stated William, i play u anytime with your Solmyr and Tower. You can chose my town and you can chose my main (might) hero.
Your experience vs human players are still not enough to see the big difference between might and magic heroes. We play random map, at least L size (with or without under, your choice).
We will see how many Titans u will have in endfight, and iīm eager to see if your Solmyr will get armorer and offense (by level up, not by university, witch hut or scholar).

William, if you are really planning to sabotage angelito, I can make a virus for you in C++ that hungs the computer(not much destruction, but still satisfaction of making somebody waste 3 min. on pressing ctr+alt+del).
Nah, joking. I would never dare to sabotage anyone. Anyway, I haven't been writing in C++ for so long...

Anyway, once I started the game with Gundula. Quickly, I have made some-sort of a crossbreed between might and magic, though I must admit that she was a jack-of-all-trades, master of NONE. I guess that's only possbile with battle mages.

I agree with you that hero is a hero. especially when I talk with experienced  players they always claim lvl 1 creature spec. heroes (for ex :shakti) are very useful.

of course. This is not incidentally so, there are a couple of good reasons for it:

1. lvl 1 creature dudes start with 1-2-3 stacks of lvl 1 creatures, and can be a serious boost in the beggining.

2. Most important of all they give +1 speed to your lvl 1 creatures.
Having shakti with 100+ trogs on day 1, I can take some serious fights early on, especially with my +1 speed trogs

3. shakti is an awesome hero anyway, because he starts with offense and tactics, two very useful skills, i'd pick him as main over most other heroes even if he didn't come with any trogs or if i wasn't playing dungeon.

I like all the other lvl 1 creat specialists as well because all of them start with at least a one very useful skill (offense, tactics, armourer)

Saying a person will always get offence, armorer and logistics for their magic hero is highly exaggerated. You are lucky to get two most of the time and many times just one. When I play with Malekith who I have as my avatar because he's my favorite on XL maps I do try to get those if possible since every bit helps, but it's not many times I end up with that.

What I would want would be: Air Magic, Armorer, Earth Magic, Fire Magic, Logistics, Offence, Sorcery and Wisdom.

Air Magic for Dimension Door, Earth Magic for Town Portal, Fire Magic for Armageddon (plus before that happens expert berserk is just plain fun), starts with Sorcery and Wisdom and then the 3 other ones mainly because they are good and I don't need anything else. If planning on using exclusively dragons and armageddon intelligence would take the spot of Armorer if there's a shortage of Dungeon towns.

What I end up with however is a different story. I may miss one of air or fire magic because I get water offered and end up with two schools and intelligence to avoid water magic. The last 3 are maybe offence as my 1 hit of those skills, then I get leadership and get stuck with mysticism in last slot. At least intelligence has use, but mysticism is completely useless. I try to recharge when I can in towns with town portal and the once per week double mana thing and hardly ever in any shortage of plus knowledge artifacts since the better ones gives to both that and spellpower and to all stats.
