This topic is for bugs and errors that you find while playing Heroes 5. If you can't start your Heroes 5, see this topic.

Specify your HOMM5 version (or demo) when listing a bug or an error, and explain how the bug/error can be reproduced, so that the developers and use this information for future patches. If you've got a pirated version, don't post here.

i got a few dud bugs as well

the most annoying is that my beautiful legitimate copy of deluxe ed HoMM V tells tell it cannot start due to no orig disc .... wtf?? it does this the first time i try to load the game, then the second time i try (without reset of pc) it works fine

irritating is the freezing of the game when splitting stacks, doesn't seem to like the shift key being pressed

lastly i am getting some sound "artifacts" - distorted bassy drum type noises on sound fx (ok with just music, but get them when sound fx are on)

apart from that, not too much is wrong with the game imo, but im only a few campaign missions in so far

Got some strange bug while playing Inferno campaign level 3. There, when i captured the north-west sylvan town and defended it from enemy army i didn't get the +2 luck bonus from building that gives it. Built it just turn before enemy attacked me and the luck stayed at +2 from "Advanced Luck".

Hello there. First I want to tell u this is a great site, it contains a lot of usefull information and it helped me a lot. I'm not a very experienced Heroes player but I played HoMM 2 and 3...didn't like 4 (except the skill system). While playing Heroes 5 with dungeon I saw that units elements have been randomly changeing even though on the site said that they could only have 2 corresponding elements. Is this a bug because I don't have the original version YET (financial problems ) or is this in the official realese? I hope it's a bug because elemental chains would be more luck-based and random and Rage of the elements would be less worth it than it might already be.

dungeon is already strong enough even if those skills are slightly... well... lacking
dungeon has the best creatures overall... looks like this time it's still AA and BD competing for top spot again...


and... yes... i've noticed that the sylvan town doesn't give you the luck bonus... tried it out myself... sooner or later there'll be a patch to fix it though.

Very small bug but still annoying:

You left click when the "raised horse" cursor shows to get a hero to move to a building (or possibly any target but I've only noticed it with creature buildings so far).   If his move ends close (one square?) away from it, next turn you cannot just hit the "continue move" button as the target info has been lost and the button is greyed out.   You have to select the building again.

The only real bug i found so far is the lack of description in the game. A lot of Artifacts are missing a tooltip and many game features are not described at all - neither in game nor manual (eg. elememental chains, prerequesites for "elite" skills)

Some things direly missing:

-more maps
-map editor
-random maps

And another thing that left me puzzeled - why is hot seat limited to 4 players only ??!

Well ... As I understand the elemental chains skill, when you attack the creatures, you will sever chains and build up new chains, which will meen that you will change the elements associated with the creature on each attack. That is the major point of the elemental chains, I think. Thus, if your fire + air creature attacks a fire + earth creature, the creature will have air + earth after the attack (if I understand it correctly).

Smth anoying. Didn`t see somewhere "rotate camera" so If there is a very
high mountain and your hero is moving next to it horizontaly there are some clicking difficulties. Other thing is that artificer skill left me confused - I saw in the site there is a +min+max artifact; got 23lvl with expert artificer but still didn`t get that option!

Not really a bug but still....In Dungeon when you go to build the Dragon Spire is says it enables you to recruit "Deep" Dragons. But in the game they are called "Shadow" Dragons.

Also i can't play online. I can get into the different channels but all the games are full or none turn up. Sometimes i can get into a game but it says there was an error with the host or it says i haven't played at Ubi.com

Duel Bugs

First of all, some opponents enter the game, their hero doesn't show up, and then it says they've left. I have no idea why the game doesn't "connect" with some people.

And now the real bad one. When gating creatures or using cloning spells sometimes a situation occurs where for me it is the opponent's turn, and for him it is my turn, and the game is stuck. I think it has to do with creatures that are summoned onto the battlefield appearing on the initiative bar in an uncoordinated way for two players.

Bad connection/ping might be the case. Or maybe they haven't opened the needed ports. Different versions of the game could also be a possibility + maybe some of them edited the files (checksum error?)..

Well not quite a bug but after a battle, slain phantoms/illusions go into the casualty box. That is quite annoying - doesn't let you see how many you really lost. Also, when you do a phantom mage, it always comes in front of the real mage...and then the real mage shoots and kills the phantom.

Also what's annoying is that the resurrected creatures and ones raised with necromancy after the battle are only seen 1 on another and fade quickly. I know they tried to make the gameplay faster without pop-ups etc but I preferred the old way. It shouldn't be a RTS.

Got a creature growth bug... I had built the Castle, the Altar of Heaven and Elraths' Sentinel and then I had a Week of Fever... however, instead of halving my Archangel growth, it actually DOUBLED it's base growth (from 3 to 5) Pretty weird

Noticed that one about not being able to use the move button when being 1 space away from your target at the start of your turn.

The game hung for me after the cut sequence at the end of Haven Mission 4.

The Tutorial tip that explains the use of Spellpower and Knowledge is really poorly translated into english - using the word Mana instead of Spellpower which is very confusing.

Need a way to change the save game location.

I noticed several strange things:

In the Inferno campaign, I was in the difficult level where you have to beat Gilraen. I had 2 heroes nearby, one with Sylvan creatures, the other (Agrael) with Inferno creatures. Agrael could reach Gilraen, but I decided to save and hope that Gilraen would attack my Sylvan hero instead, so I could weaken him a bit before attacking with Agrael. I could see which troops he had, his best creatures were 21 Treants. He indeed decided to attack my Sylvan hero (without doing anything else in between, he just rushed to attack immediately), but suddenly, he didn't have any Treants anymore, but he did have 12 Emerald Dragons! I was amazed, so I decided to load the game and attack Gilraen with Agrael. Again, it showed that he had 21 Treants, and when I attacked, he indeed did have 21 Treants and no Emerald Dragons at all. Very strange...

Someone else mentioned it already: with the weak of the plague (different name now, don't remember the correct one), only some stacks growth' is halved, others (in the same town) are doubled instead! Must be a bug...

Another thing: either I'm too dumb to understand how it works, or the 'raise Pit Lord'-ability of my Arch Devils isn't working properly...

Let's see, what else? There are some more minor things like missing artifact-descriptions, wrong descriptions for creature dwellings and just a bit of a rushed feeling about the game (e.g., in previous HOMMs, when you visited a Witch Hut with a very good hero, she'd yell and curse at you to get lost. Now, you just get a boring message...), but those are things I'm sure will be updated in a future patch...

When playing Dungeon, I got the control over a neutral stack of Skeleton Archers in round 1 of the combat.

I clicked "defend" and everything else worked fine.

In Academy Campaign mission 4

Do not use Diemension Doors. There is an area through which you have to pass in order to enable cutscene after which Raelag appears. Then you go and confront him.
If by any chance you'll go to the area where you should confront Raelag, before triggering the cutscene mentioned above, you won't be able to complete the mission.

The only way to mess it up like that is using dimension door, but i guess that lots of people use that spell (in order for ex. to "jump" above some "thin" mountains : P

Anyway i was really pissed off, because the AIs are reeeaaly slow in this mission, it takes them an eternity to complete their turns. And then you have to amass an enormous army and then ARGH, error, the map is mine but not all objectives are completed.
Very frustraiting, let me tell you
