UBI$oft..........I'm pissed and ranting
Just wondering, has anyone else who preordered H5 with a promised delivery date not received their merchandise?
My copy was scheduled to arrive on 5/25. I had noticed from Ubi's purchase confirmation email to me that the game had been shipped and was en route. I've had a couple of disheartening experiences with FedEx lately, so I assumed it was another case of the 'same old same old....' and I gave them a call. Thing is, FedEx had no record of the shipment. The tracking number Ubi provided me with was a valid FedEx number, but that particular order wasn't in the system.
Naturally, the next step was to call Ubi. Their response was 'the shipment was late because our warehouse didn't have enough copies to fill all of the orders. It will be delayed for a day.'
Tell me, why didn't Ubi either update their site with this info or email the customers who were going to be affected by it?
It totally pisses me off that I spent most of one of my rare days off from work waiting on merchandise that I have already paid for and then it never shows up.
How friggin hard could it be to make a phone call or send an email and let a customer (whose money has long been in your hands) know that there are production issues and a delay will ensue???????
After getting absolutely nowhere with the gentleman who received my call I asked to speak with his supervisor. This is where I really got ticked off. His response was 'well, I am the supervisor.
Ok, no problem....I asked to talk to his manager. His response: "This doesn't go any higher than me." And that fairly well sums up my experience with Ubi's customer support.
I'm pretty sure that the days of Ubi getting my business are over......
[Edit] Have to add that I wouldn't be nearly as angry as I am now if Ubi's shopping site hadn't stated that my game had already shipped. Pisses me off that they knew this wasn't the case but didn't bother to notify me......

Consis.....
Thanks.
In a sick way it's satisfying to know I'm not the only one to be screwed, but on the flip side I hate to see other HoMMer's burned by the same thing.....
My customer satisfaction rating with Ubi is definitely 0%.............

Or at least until they ( Ubi ) release the expansion to HOMM 5 and/or make HOMM 6, right?

As long as we are UBI...
I do at least have my game after chasing it around yesterday thru several stores and a couple less than helpful clerks. Everything looks and plays great. The one thing I'd warn folks about is you might want to reboot right after you load it up cause I couldn't do the initial login. I put my name in and clicked "OK" 500 times and nothing happened until I did.
Anyway, the point of my post is how bad the server lobby is. You either have to sit in the lobby and keep asking if anyone is ToH or make a room and keep asking every idiot if they are. The rooms allow only a small title only and anyone in the lobby can't see who is in the room unless they enter it. Not only that but if you are in a room you can't see the lobby either. I assume that once you have someone on your friend list that allows you to contact each other but I have no idea. The whole thing is rather limited. Oh and it really would be nice if "open" rooms were placed on top of the list so you didn't have to search through the list.
I'd like to make a couple suggestions that possibly could be posted on the ToH main page to maybe make this at least a little easier. I think we should sort of take over a room. By this I simply mean telling all ToH players to look for each other in say Room 5. This way we all know where to find each other and maybe we can sort of make it our own. It won't keep others out but will make it easy for us to meet and if non tournament players have trouble finding games there they will hopefully stay in the main Room 1. Also we need a universal password like "toheroes" so you can pass your room to keep from having to ask 200 times if they are in ToH and the 100 boots you have to give cause they just say "Go". That way also I can put my room name as ToH Lord Bobby rather than ToH Players Only... particularly since the title is ignored a lot. Finally for those yet to register you may want add ToH to your name to make it easier to be identified.
Once more of us get playing and friend lists on there grow this will be less of an issue. But after spending several hours on there we need to do something to help.

Lets no over-react
For those of you who "got screwed" with delivery dates, I say to you:
"With great expectations, comes great dissatifcation" provided that those expecations are out of your control at times, such as delivery dates.
I was expecting my computer to be ready 3 days ago, but had to wait, wait, wait. I understood that. The gentlemen fixing my computer had eother emergencies, so I gave him a break. Thanks to my patience and goodwill, he gave me a set up speakers
Enjoy life, dont't set up expectations if you know in advance that things may go wrong. If you don'y have expectations about ANYTHING, you will never be dissapointed
Regards

I just missed you Karim. Too bad.
To further gripe about the server. The friends list is just that, a list of people you add as friends. But it is basically useless. There is no way to message anyone privately at all. Doesn't that make passwording your room counterproductive? You can pass your room to keep the unwanted out but there is no way to tell those you do want in what it is except in open lobby chat.
Forget about game patches... I just hope they patch/change the game server!

I get really upset when I pay for something and I don't get it when I'm supposed to. I have an industrial manufacturing background and I understand that at times events transpire which necessitate delays in shipment of promised merchandise. I've seen it happen many times. It's just a facet of everyday business.
However, when these 'little problems' do occur, it is the producer's/sellers paramount responsibility to inform their customers of the delay and to provide as much information about a remedy as possible.
Ubi didn't do this. They simply stated 'your order has shipped' on their shopping site and never bothered to update the site with new info or to email/phone me with an update on the status of my order.
I do not appreciate being deceived/misled/forgotten, especially after I've already spent my money.......
Even as I type this, I have the game in hand. It just arrived about 10 minutes ago.
And yes, I'm still pissed.

good idea bobby, I'm making a ToH post.
About the game delivery, when is anything done on time nowadays? I had mothers day flowers sent to my mom, she never got it. I get construction done for the house, estimated time to finish, one month. Real time it finished, 9 months. I order something online, it is 2-3 days delivery, I get it a week later. Its life nowadays.

So many people complaining.
This game is going down the drain if it continues like this. For every new player we get, 10 players are lost because they read some thread about complaints. Some patience?
Just look at the ubi board.. daym you'd think the game was horrible. Not to mention some of the people seem to "forget" that h3 was far from perfect when it shipped.

Oh it's really bad right now Hap. ToH players really haven't gotten in there much yet and probably don't know about the issues I mentioned yet so I'm forced to sit in the lobby and ask occasionally if there is anyone ToH or sit in a room and ask over and over "Are you in ToH?" even tho the room reads ToHeroes.com Only.
So where is everyone? I realize it is a Friday afternoon for me here and I have it off cause I work 4 - 10s, but I thought there were more people out there slapping arms for their HoMM fix than just me.
Hmmmmm course maybe I'm the only one dumb enough not to practice with the campaign first...

I don't know if I want to try online play yet (assuming the game is waiting for me at home) Seems like lots of bugs and troubles.. not to mention a game will take 5 hours as it is. But it is a 3 day weekend, so maybe worth a shot.

well if I had more than an hour of free time this month, I would try playing again, and would probably try racking 2-3 games this weekend. But as it stand, I will go into madman gaming mode when my work subsides sometime in mid-june.
