ismail what magic are you talking about?! I thought you understood that the first thing the academy player will do against dungeon is Counterspell ... So the matriarchs and the assassins are the ones that have to put down the archmages
The assassins, as klaital said wont do that much, so that leaves the matriarchs which are not great , but not bad either ... anyway you cant expect them to put down all the archmages...
Anyway we are getting away from the real subject : Heaven !

Counterspell is useless. Use your Shadow Matriarchs to cast a spell to free up your hero.

hmm ... didn't know that , i thought it countered hero spells only . The computer usually stopped casting spells after i activated it , but i never used it against humans , so ...

well i may slow with matriarchs to allow blood furies to attack again anyway when u play with dungeon u must do whatever it takes to save blood furies

you certainly are a blood fury freak ! but they cannot be protected, they will be your first creatures to die...
bottom line marksmen are better (12 / week) against (5 / week)!

Well ismaill seems to depend a lot on the furies.Not a good idea since the best you can do is accumulate them for an important batttle and there will probably be several in a game.And they usually die in the first round. As for the 15 growth:
You always get leadership?!Earlygame too?And are a castlesitter..?Umm... If you do you may not get attack or other useful skills.If you take Kythra you have other disadvantages.
Ritual pit...Takes much sacrifice to get +3 furies.You either have to get diplomacy(risky-it may be better to keep the creatures) or depend on getting early a neutral town.It costs.
BTW I used counterspell and it remained grey for the rest of the battle even if the opponent cast some spells.So,you just cast it once or does it take into account all the spells cast by an enemy?I'm baffled
And if you plan to get a warlock this way can't he just get warlock's luck,arcane training and cast non empowered spells?He should have the mana for quite a few spells.

I finally played my first two ToH games ... Of course I used Heaven ... My opponents used both Sylvan unfortunatelly for them, so the game were quite easy for me .
Marksmen + Squires = Victory
In the first game I played pretty bad, in the beggining and i was a little left behind with my hero stats especially since he had the guy with enlightment... The game was on sub treasures , and I was getting a little frustrated about his stats. I was yellow , he was blue . I observed that the guards from the red island were beaten , and then I started worrying cause he surely was boosting his hero alot! That's why I decided to recruit everything I had and attack his island ASAP... At this point I saw in the tavern that he took his 3rd and a little later his 4th town, so that was really bad news. By this time I was already on a ship , but my chain was not ready , and I didn't have enough mana for summon creatures , so I defeated some wrecked ships for the exp & money while waiting for the chain to be completed ... My scout had already cleared the sea of resources long before , so there wasn't anything else to do. I finally chained , got all my troops to my main hero , and went to attack ... I was surprised to see his main hero very near the place where I left the ship. I don't know how he did that , maybe he retreat from some neutrals. Anyway he had no troops so he ran away ! I went & took his secondary town , defeated some monsters from his island , took the artifacts they were guarding and boosted my stats a little at some arena & other stat boosters
anyway I was really down with the stats : I had 10 13 4 9 ( got a +6 knowledge cap from his island) and he was something like 12 18 6 12 dont remember exactly
But I had recruited all my troops !
I had a nice army of 300+ Conscripts , 200 + marksmen , 100+ Squires , 25+ Imperial Griffins(dont remember for sure how many) , 10 + dont remember inquisitors and 10 paladins
He had 5 dragons , 18 treants , 20 unicorns , dont remember druids , 70-80 master hunters , 60-70 Dancers , and 40 or so pixies !
The battle had no history ... In the end I remained with most of my troops , losing the griffins , some of the marksmen & inquisitors, some paladins... I don't remember exactly . He lost everything!
He said he forgot to bring the ballista, and so he couldnt use his imbue ballista ability ( he had imbued his arrow with chain lightning during the battle) ... I dont know what difference that would've made, since I won so clearly.
The second game , I played quite ok in the beggining, cleared my island really swift. I was still yellow and my opponent still blue .
When I went out with my scout to take resources from the sea, I met his scout and killed him, but the next turn he attacked my scout with his main ... soon after that he came to my island. just a turn before he came I took my main to the sea. I didn't have all the creatures recruited so I got worried that he might see me and attack me and I went as far as I could from there , thinking next turn I'm gonna chain and charge him. He didn't see me , but he went on my island on the other entrance so I had to come back on the island hoping I'll catch him before he takes my secondary. He didn't go for the secondary , instead he took some skill boosters . so I was able to come close to him ( I had some boots of speed and logistics also ). at this time I had all my troops recruited except for the griffins (they were unupgraded and I didnt want to waste them like that) and the priests(same here) . So I had 175 Marksmen , 234 Conscripts , 65 Squires , and 10 Paladins ( I built them earlier this time).
Anyway this time was easier...
The point is : Sylvan is no match for heaven ! Or I am missing something.

oh, by the way, it's not "heaven", the place where angels are said to live, but "haven", a place where boats dock
you're still bothering with conscripts? better get more paladins ;x

i didn't know it wasn't the place where angels hang out
resources are not unlimited you know ... conscripts are a cheap solution. would you rather buy 300 conscripts or train 2 paladins?! I'd choose the conscripts anytime !

Paladins would be my choice. not training them ofc, way too expensive.

Maybe but there is still strength in numbers!300 is not bad and since the other stacks were more of a threat it doesn't come as a surprise that most of them survived.

they are quite efficient ... thier numbers surely help . and how would you get more paladins , if you already recruited them all , if not by training ?

yah, sylvan is no match for haven, watch out for those druids though, their lightning is a real threat for lowhitpoint-marksmen

if the sylvan guy has tactics, he can place 3 stacks of druids behind the treants, that would be a pain in the arse

sylvan is not match for haven, academy is no match for anyone, and surely not for haven ... necropolis is based on skel archers , and since squires, marksmen + imperial griffins are great anti shooters , it is very hard to believe they are a real threat. So that leaves only 2 towns that really can match haven: Dungeon and Inferno(only with Deleb).
That seems to me like haven superiority ... I am looking forward to a game against inferno , or dungeon

well, I think enemy is at best against haven when it uses dark magic, so that would mean necro/inferno/haven stand best chance against haven

Mass Cleansing solves that problem.
Light Magic can make a stand against dark magic ... These two schools of magic are very balanced , and they compete for the title of best magic school .
But I prefer Light Magic . Inferno & Dark Magic might be a big problem in some cases because of the mana sucking imps... but only if you dont find knowledge artifacts, if you do the problem is solved !

it is not.
artifacts or not, familiars will drain might heroes such as knights totally.. because the gated ones suck it, too. So, if not in the first round, they'll do it in second one.
You have to rely on inquisitor's cleansing from this point.

u guys are underestimating dark magic, cleansing doesnt always work, and keeping an eye on the succession bar below frenzy can cause a real havoc
