Poll Question:
Should red stars be easier to gain?
OK people i say OF COURSE.
And i saw people almost EVERY one on Volcanic Wastelands board has 4 red stars. What do they do to gain them?

Okay Metos palsy of mine, let me tell you about the things that I had to go through in order to earn those stars...
1) I let Pandora bite me all over for an entire week! 
2) When me and Valeriy practiced Tai Chi I always let him win.
3) I told MightyMage that I am a virgin too just to make him feel better about himself.
4) I had a talk with RedSoxFan and told him that some old gipsy granny down the street predicted that there is a slim chance for the Boston Red Sox to qualify for the playoffs.
5) I told Lich_King that LT united's "We are the winners of the eurovision" song was the best one there and should have won, and of course that the entire show is corrupted
6) I let Angelito beat me in a HOMM3 game and believe me that this was the hardest thing for me to do. He is an ok player but compared to me he is but a young grasshopper trying to jump over a high obsticle.
7) I let Shadowcaster surprise me from behind eventhough it's kinda hard not to spot him at the middle of the desert

Metos - the people that you see posting frequently in the VW are members that post very often all over the forums.
Quality Posts are given for posts that we (moderators) feel fall within the top 2% of posts here. Naturally people that make a lot of good, thoughtful posts will tend to receive QP's after a while.
Some moderators (me being one) will also take things like contribution and attitude into consideration when deciding who should get a QP.
If its QP's you want a good start would be to lighten up on the negativity - posts that make people smile will get QP's sometimes - posts that make people frown usually will not.
Start listening to what the other members say to you, and do so with an open mind. When you took to flooding the place, a lot of members became upset; rather than consider that they had good reason to be unhappy - you chose to start fighting with people right from day one.
Read Valeriy's Philosophy of Anger maybe it will help 
And remember, play nice and have fun - QP's come to those who wait

Ok during my time here I have gotten both Quality Points and Penalties.
I got my quality points for contribution, and for well quality posts I guess.
My penalties were a mistake that I should have never made, and I fel like crap now because I have them.
I gfot the penalties for a number of reasons:
-Threatening to hack this place I think anyway
-Sending people HCM's when they didnt want them
-Swearing and all of that
-And basically annoying people
Those were maybe the main reasons I got them, and I feel quite stupid now that I even thought of getting them.
You see, posting just in the Volcanic Wastelands will not earn you quality points, posting in a variety of forums like maybe Tavern or Other Side might gain you some.
Posting just "spam" will most likely annoy some members, and not give you any qps, especially if you spam in other forums like Tavern or Other Side or even Turban Tribunal, the place we are in right now.
Look, it might be hard gaining qps, but you have gotta keep trying.
Do what Pandora says, she has been here for years and one of the best mods, simply because she has some of the hardest forums to moderatore, including Turban, Other Side, Tavern and VW, they can be quite hard, so listen to her, she knows best.
Being good and continously having good attitude might result in a qp or something, contributing good stuff towards a thread might alos land you with another red star, and then helping others or posting original things might land you with some more.
All these things contribute towards a red star, and although they may be hard to get, you have gotta keep trying and eventually you shall get one.
But be aware, do not get penalties, they will "lower" you're name in a way, and newcomers might see you as a bad member or something like that, so just be cautious of the fact that penalties are not the way to go.
If you came here wanting to be a loser and swear and insult people just so you can get penalties, then this isnt the place for you.
I am not saying you have done this, just using that as an example, I hope you get what I am saying.

If qp's are easier to get no one will care about them anymore, they will become like yellow stars. Supply and demand 
if you want a qp first thing:
-stop flooding.
second:
make some larger posts, (it's not quantity it's quality, but still, smaller posts aren't usually enough to warrant a red star) and think about them, re-read them, edit them, make sure they are interesting before posting. try and improve your posting, that's what they're for.
qp's are earned over time, as Bjorn so rightly said.

Of course QP should not be that easy to get.
Otherwise we wouldnt be seeing threads about QP hunting.
Most QP will go towards favortism.
There is a % of threads that will get a QP, usually depending on if a mod also relates to that thread as well.
Most people you see will have a Quest to get QP & usually favored by everyone on here. There is no doubt they will get a QP.
People should earn a QP, not kiss a mods butt to get them like some I know on here.
I have a personal feeling but I wont post it in public.
Just know that if you hunt for QP, you might get one.

Also I think thats all crap when people say you will get QP overtime.
I seen people get QP when they first came on here.
Most went straight to favortism.
I can name a few on top of my head.
So no it dont come overtime, it comes on the person & how much contributing they do to make this place better.

I agree with the above, although I'd also like to add that you should stick with stuff you don't mind putting a lot of time and thought into. Don't just try to conform by posting about a popular topic that you have absolutely no interest in. Stick to your strengths, and give your opinions about stuff you're familiar with. Ask other members questions, build up your understanding of things, then work off of that. Starting small is a good thing, but as was mentioned earlier, your later posts should be as polished and readable as possible. Even if you don't generate much response at first, keep on going.

OK i understand. William, you have -2 Quality Points now, your penalties are more than your Quality Points. But that was some LONG post man. You can get one for that though i didn't read it fully Titanium Alloy, i don't think you should gain a Quality Point. Thanks for suggestions either i already stopped flooding. You were here for 3 years i guess. IT is a time since you gained THAT much both yellow and red stars. TNT_Addict, you know, you cheated to gain those stars Not really but yes, it's true a bit. I won't lose a game against anyone to get a Quality Point. I saw a person with 22 Quality Points can't remember the name. Thanks for all advices people and i apologize for what i did yesterday, i'm very furious about some real life things. I think i would be a better person here overall

Metos has just started posting here recently & he already realized that most of TNT's QP were given by QP hunting & favortism.
Of course I am not the only one who already thought so a long time ago.
I enjoy it though, it gives people somethang to look at.

After spending well over 100 hours {yes that is right - research blahblah} on my ICTC entry to gain my first qp {not why I did it btw - I didn't know if I would even hang around here after}, and then have it slammed because it was 'spam' I had a bit of a chip about qps in the beginning.
I wonderded why some people got them for doing very little, and others could do more and not gain them. This is when I released my desire for them I guess. {until the 20 post limit came in} Anyway, I just couldn't figure it out. But now I really think I have, and I really don't think anyone should base their self esteem or worth on a little red star.
Anyway...
Here is what I think.
It is not only the quality of the post but the timimg, and the intention behind the post. Generally, when posts are aimed at improving the community and they are successful, then they will get a star - the motivation behind this post should be to improve the community for us all.
What do I mean by 'improve the community'
I mean that this place gets damn boring and mundane - read pandora's guide thingy and think about it It is a metaphor goddammit
So when things are like they are now - we need members to be creative and take the time to produce entertaining threads that promote discussion or a sense of community spirit.
That is what I believe alot of FoG's, Iris's, and TnT's threads were aimed at. That is what made the 'golden age' for me a while back.
Now once a member not only makes these threads but also is involved in supporting other threads through funny/thoughtful posts - like Pecu, Russ, and the previously mentioned {as well as others of course TA.DS,etc} then they get a 'reputation' as being a positive member of the community.
The mods may not be able to justify giving them a qp for these one liners, but as these culminate together they are worthy of one. So the only opportunity a mod has to reward this involvement is to toss them one on any thread that is even remotely qp worthy...
I hope that makes sense...
I no longer object to any qp that is given. We have to give the mods the unrestricted ability to do this without fear of retribution if we want to see more of them too They have to deal with the crpaola - give them the opportunity to give nice shinies when they feel like it too.
I personally think that more qps should be given to posts within threads rather than just the thread starter, but it seems that most mods are accomadating if people post requests recommending others. That is - don't ask for them for yourself. Man

By even discussing the qp policies the non-mods pretend to the qp throne. Inherent in the discussion is the opinion that the community members get a say in who gets a qp or not. This is a healty opinion, but I just wanna point out the irony of using such a discussion to say that the mods should be able to hand the qps out without interfearance from the masses, when this very thread is an interfearance 
I say let QPs be the divine gift from the mods, handed out for no reason other than that their glory and power allow them to do so!!  That makes them more fun to get, at least for me.

Some of your QP was given to you for being who you are.
If say William would of made the same thread, it would of never gotten anywhere.
You have to give a name for yourself in a positive way for the mods to get more attention on thread seeking a QP.
It is not an insult at all but my opinion which is not the only one.
I could be wrong of course.
True colors?
People who known me from 2001 knows I changed only for the better on here.
Most should be glad they didnt know me back 3-4 yrs ago.

I disagree with you 1 out of 2 times.
It is never the timing but how you contribute to HC is what I think you mean.
Good intentions will usually do it but again it depends on who you are.
I seen many people with great intentions & people never give a thought about giving a QP.
Only certain forums give out QP.
You will notice that in the WOG,TOH,map forums & other places will never give out a QP since they dont care to do so.
I believe if a Mod has a certain grudge, vendetta or just dont like a person, they wont be treated fairly.
It is known in history that I have been here that it is a fact.
It's just not as bad now though.
