Heroes 4 towns and creatures; facts, rumors and theories...

I got tired of making my own towns, so I moved to the "excisting towns" buisness .
Facts about the towns, creature lists, dwellings and guesses:

Academy

Level 1: Halfling (shooter)
Level 1: Dwarf (walker)
Level 2: Gold Golem (walker)
Level 2: Mage (shooter)
Level 3: Genie (flyer)
Level 3: Naga (walker)
Level 4: Dragon Golem (walker)
Level 4: Titan (shooter)

Town of the civilized. The dwellings seen in the townshots:

Halflings (halfling hole)

Dwarves (mining camp?)

Gold Golems (factory?)

Magi (ivory tower)

Genies (lamp)

Nagas (golden pavillion)

Titans (cloud temple)

Only the mage and the dragon golem dwelling are missing. But it's a fact they will be in the Academy lineup, which is (un)officially confirmed. Academy will not have any extra creatures (or the ability to summon), but their heroes can learn a bit of necromancy, and the Academy speciallity "charm", allows them to take over enemy creatures.

Haven

Level 1: Squire (walker)
Level 1: Archer (shooter)
Level 2: Ballista (shooter)
Level 2: Pikeman (walker)
Level 3: Monk (shooter) (probably spellcaster too)
Level 3: Crusader (walker)
Level 4: Champion (walker)
Level 4: Angel (flyer)

The town of humans and life magic. The Haven army dwellings:

Squires (house?)

Archers (shooting range)

Ballistas (blacksmith)

Monks (monastery)

Crusaders (war academy?)

Angels (church or cathedral)

Missing is the squire and the champion dwelling. The building I've posted as the crusader dwelling could maybe be home of the champions, but I don't think so (champions should have somekind of stable or training ground). I'm sure the crusader is level 3 and not 4. They are not supposed to be stronger than champions. For the rest, the Haven alignment have been easy to guess because of the human style, the compare to H3 Castle, and the creatures wearing the same uniforms in the artworks. The only thing that bothers me is the appearence of four level 2-4 dwellings in a screenshot (there should only be three):

From left: Blacksmith (level 2), Monastery (level 3), Crusader dwelling (level 3), Church (level 4)...

Preserve

Level 1: Sprite (flyer)
Level 1: Wolf (walker)
Level 2: Elf (shooter)
Level 2: White Tiger (walker)
Level 3:
Level 3: Unicorn (walker)
Level 4: Faerie Dragon (spellcaster)
Level 4: Phoenix (flyer)

Summon: Wolf (walker)
Summon: Waspwort (walker)
Summon guess: Mantis (flyer) (maybe level 3 in the lineup)
Summon guess: Satyr (walker) (if a spellcaster, then level 3 in the lineup)

Town of the wild and untamed. Most certainly the home of the:

Sprites

Wolves

Elves (treetop tower?)

Unicorns (unicorn glade)

Faerie Dragons (magic forest)

Phoenixes

The second level 2 dwelling (beside the elven dwelling) looks like this:

At first it was the basilisk cave, then the leprechaun dwelling, and now most people think it's home of the white tiger. I now think that too, because no other creatures will fit this building that much. I mean the stripes looks like animal stripes, and it's green (preserve colour) and white (white tiger). Djive also had an idea, that it could be the zebra stable, if zebras are from Preserve (according to the fact that nightmares is creatures of the Asylum and heroes are also riding them). Other creature guesses for the cave are welcome.
Maranthea has confirmed that the waspwort is made for summoning, during the battle, but take a look at this pic:

It shows the creatures availible in a town with the wolf, sprite, elf, unicorn and faerie dragon dwellings. Only the wolf and sprite are present, and the others are just typed in (pictures not ready yet). But in the last circle I can read "Waspwort", which is not actually in the town. So the sixth room is probably for creatures recruited through the creature portal (almost similar to the HoMM3 Dungeon Portal of Summoning):

With this unique building, one of the Preserve strengths will be having more and earlier creatures than the other towns (only necromancy having same effect).
The second level 3 dwelling has to be either a flyer or a shooter. As a shooter i can only think of the druid, but they will not be in the game as creatures. Flyers could be pegasi or mantis. But there's still no facts about the dwelling. The satyr could be here, if a spellcaster and a level 3, but I don't think they'll use magic.

Asylum

Level 1: Orc (shooter)
Level 1: Bandit (walker)
Level 2: Medusa (shooter)
Level 2: Minotaur (walker)
Level 3: Efreet (flyer)
Level 3: Nightmare (walker)
Level 4: Hydra (walker)
Level 4: Black Dragon (flyer)

Town of chaos. The creature dwellings for:

Orcs (orc towers?)

Bandits (bandit hideout?)
or

Medusas (medusa garden?)

Minotaurs (labyrinth)

Efreets (fire lake)

Nightmares (burning trees)

Hydras (swamp?)

Black Dragons (dragon cave)

Everything okay here... The only question is, why are there two different bandit dwellings?

Necropolis

Level 1: Zombie (walker)
Level 1: Imp (flyer)
Level 2: Cerberus (walker)
Level 2: Ghost (flyer)
Level 3: Vampire (flyer)
Level 3: Venom Spawn (walker) (may be a shooter aswell)
Level 4: Bone Dragon (flyer)
Level 4: Devil (teleporter)

Necromanced: Skeleton (walker)

Town of the death. Creature dwellings:

Zombie (graveyard)

Imp (imp crucible?)

Venom Spawn

Devil (forsaken palace?)

We know the cerberus is in Necropolis. And it can only be level 2 (logic). So the second level 2 creature lives in this dwelling:

If it's one of the creatures we're familiar with, I say it can only be the ghost. It would make most sence if the ghost where level 3, but now I actually think it's going to share position with the cerberus. Earlier I thought the haunted house was the ghost dwelling, but it's placed together with the unique buildings, and not as a dwelling:

Maybe it's somekind of +ghost growth building or...? (according to the other towns, this may be the tavern)
The second level 3 building is not to find, but I really believe we'll see the vampire here (it's a tradition). And of course bone dragons are in this town.
About the skeletons, they are level 1 in every H4 Necropolis lineup I've seen.  But if you have necromancy and raise hundreds of skeletons, then why should you be able to buy them aswell? The other thing is, the dwelling is a graveyard, the place you recruit zombies, not skeletons...

Stronghold

Level 1: Centaur (shooter)
Level 1: Berserk (walker)
Level 2: Troll (walker)
Level 2:
Level 3: Ogre Mage (walker)
Level 3: Thunderbird (flyer)
Level 4: Cyclop (shooter)
Level 4: Behemoth (walker)

Town of might. Because of the undetailed screenshot, I don't know which dwellings it contains, but most of the line up should be right. The ogre mage should be level 2 though (only level 4 in H3, compared to the minotaur, who where level 5, but now only level 2). The thunderbird, cyclop and behemoth are more or less confirmed. The centaur, as one of the strongest HoMM3 level 1 creatures, is a must for the might town. The berserk and trolls being here are only rumors based on a few facts, and the white tiger was a posibility for the level 2, if not in Preserve.

That's all the information I got. If anyone knows better than this, can document for their own guesses/ideas or can come up with some dwelling names, please reply...

Preserver, the Pikeman's "house" doesn't come through, although this thread is one of the best I've seen, as it is very important to those who are new to Heroes 4.

Each town can be upgraded with three levels of Castles, three levels of Town Halls, five levels of Magic Guilds, two Magic Guild Wings, two level 1 Creature Dwellings, two types of Dwellings for each of the next three levels of creatures, and many other upgrades.

I am pretty confused as well about haeven and its 4 dwellings on the upper level of the town, when there should be only 3.
My guess is for ballista, champions and crusaders. I think that church might be one of these two "magic guild wings".
I agree with you about white tiger and portal of summoning for preserve. Maybe one of the two bandit hideouts might be another of these wings as well.

Preserver, Satyrs could easily be spellcasters. In D&D they are able to play their pipes with a magical effect (usually charm of some sort, which is interesting since Nature and Order are opposed here). So I wouldn't be surprised to see them as spellcasters. Every town seems to have a level 3 caster (Genies, Nightmares (cast Fear), T-Birds (maybe Call Lightning), perhaps Vampires will cast a Life Leech or similar spell, and Monks may be spellcasters).

Back again...

The pikemans home is fixed... (he must be happy now )

The mage guild wings are placed beside the mage guild itself. One on the right, and one on the left. About the castle screenshot, I would believe they cheated, and placed two of the same level dwellings (we know the dwellings are not always places exactly on the same spot, so it could be done). One of the bandit hideouts, I think, is a prototype, and will not be in the game, but I didn't post my idea cause I wanted to see other people's reactions.

Satyrs could very well be spellcasters, I just said I didn't thought they would be (I heard Lith say it once, and he knows alot about greek mythology). It's not that I don't hope it, cause I do...

ACC...

If the church was home of the crusader, the crusader would be level 4! And I don't think he is... (the crusaders should have somewhere to train their battle skills, and that aint in a church!). But thanks for adding your ideas anyway.. Maybe you're right ...

I'm afraid you're wrong...

Priests are from churches...

Monks are from monasteries...

If they were from the church they should be level 4. So I really think it's reasonable to reserve the church for the angels... Don't you?

preserve level 3.. dendroids? at least i hope they will be in the game in one form or another.

wasn't the squre lower than the pikeman or the swordsman or whatever is going to be there in homm4. my guess would be that the squire is the ball-and-chain man..?

cathedral is neither monastery nor church, and maybe anyone can reall what the homm2 crusader building was, as far as i remember, it might have been cathedral.

i have seen the buiding with two stone towers and a box on some asylum town screens in chu, i always thought this was the minotaur labyrinth.

actually, i'm happy with the ghost is lev 2 instead of lev 3, if it was that strong, it would have to be overpowering.

hmm.. somehow i always thought the venom spawn was a shooter.

it is nice to hear that the berserk and the troll are not confirmed in the stronghold, i don't like the graphics of neither of them.

btw there is a tower that might be for cerberi in necro and the two towers building in asylum that might be for minotaurs (maybe your version is more updated?) in celestialheavens (among the towns).

btw.. the halfling hole looks like a perfect tolkien style halfling hole :-9, it seems i am quite happy with it.

you have made quite a beautiful-looking summary imho.

Well I strongly suspect angels are spellcasters, or at least get one spell. But it would not be unreasonable to think that monks will be spellcasters too.
