Many modern pc's can actually configure the LAN settings with straight line automatically.

Yeah, and it doesn't only apply to PC's as well, it can apply to other things. A good example is an Xbox or Xbox 360.

If you want to connect to more than one computer you could also use a ethernet switch with straight cables. You should be able to get one from d-link or linksys for around $30. I have only used switches when I had another DHCP client so I can't comment on if it is going to be any easier configuring the computers than just using a crossover cable.

D-Link and LinkSys are both makers of routers's also. Thanks for backing me up here(indirectly of course).

Their way is seen by me as another QuikFix that is bound to rather fail later on or, they'll have to recline themselves later on for a router in order to connect a thorough network of machines upto 4 of them(main server included).

Here's is a little bit of more advice: The Easy Way is for the Users and Operators of machines and, The Hard Way is for the Technicians and Professionals of the High Tech Industry.

To make things even more entertaining, not only my games are crashing - lately, my net also.

HOMM V, HoF and TotE are the only games that cause trouble in lan multiplayer. Every other works just fine.
Plus, I did manage - once, a long time ago - to play them on lan, so I don't think the game changed since then in anyway so as to need a router... or, again, I could be wrong.

If there is a bug in the game, when or who should be able to resolve it ?

Don't like Romanians?
Being a polite girl, I'll retain myself from any comments... but I must ask you - is there a problem with where I'm from?
I don't mean to be rude - like others -, but from what nano-mcdonalds-civilization-country are you from?

Getting back to the main subject, I tried to mail my problem to ubisoft support team, but still haven't received an answer. Has anyone of you ever tried to get in touch with ubisoft officials in order to solve some issues?

Passing on... I see you are very proud of where you come, since you're so eager of sharing it.

I'm not on this forum to be insulted by someone lacking the shame when talking to a girl. I strongly recommend you solve your issues.

I won't dignify with responses anymore, I'm afraid you can't get the general picture. Seek help .. and good manners

Just to be clear I was not backing you up directly or indirectly. Infact I disagree with what you stated before but ignored it because of the moderators note.

"Their way" as you put it (using a crossover cable) is probably a better solution if you only have two computers and do not aldready have a LAN setup and ready. And it is less likely to fail than the router/switch because you are not adding an additional part plus connections any of which could be faulty. I have seen switches where 1 of the 4 ports stops working correctly while the other 3 work fine.

Ubi support team answered 2day, and their sollutions seem to be:

·Close down background applications:
**Disconnect internet**, Click Start > Run > type msconfig > Click the Startup tab > Click Disable All button > Apply > OK, and restart your computer.

·Delete the temporary files from your computer:
Click Start > Run > type %temp% > OK > click Edit > Select All > Delete.

I haven't done these so far, which is why I'm asking you kind people for advice What can go wrong?

Nothing wrong with deleting the Temporary files, so that might work.

But I am unsure to what the background services shutting down may do. I might be wrong, but that doesn't seem like a good thing. It might be good if you are not connected to the Internet, but I am really not sure, so I can't help you with that one.

But try deleting the Temp files, and then seeing how it goes.

hi i was wondering whether anyone knows how the ability "dark renewal works?" if you cast a fireball or meteor shower spell, and one of several targets resists it, will you get your mana back?

and also, it says that mass spells are not affected by it, but area effect spells are, but how about mass spells that have an area effect, like mass decay?
