Well, although "demonic" ability would be highly imba, logic tells us that at least the red upgrades could very well be demonic.

I agree. Many renegade units have better abilities than the original upgrades (like crossbowman and vindicator).  They have to balance them a bit. About the footmen alternative upgrade: If you take a look at the pictures at www.mightandmagic.com you see a shaman that attacks a vindicator WITH shield and helmet. The two-handed-swordman must be art and not a new unit in ToE.

About the orcs: After seeing the videos and pictures it seems like the orc units (at least some of them) will have a red demon-like upgrade and a more barbarian upgrade. But i can't imagine that the demonic orcs will be immune to Chain Shot. After all they are still orcs.

Can someone please explain to me what mixed neutrals are? And did they announce it on TOtE or something? Hopefully bastion will come out today since all alternate upgrades go out on tuesday. I betcha nival already finished but they don't want to give it away as a spoiler.

I don't think we'll get anything today, it's been weeks since we last saw official information other than the second dev diary. Ubi never mentioned that feature, EvilP that had the demo said so. The demo testing finishes today I think so the demo should go inactive. As for Nival finishing I'm sure we would have heard news that tote went gold.

mixed neutrals means that if for example you attack some minotaurs on the adventure map, when you get to the battle you will face not only minotaurs but also blood furies.

I don't think Nival will release any news today. I think they are more interessed in finishing the game and the in-progress-units (like the ultra-green wyvern) than releasing more information right now. But of course I may be wrong. I hope we will get a demo soon.

I hope there wont be mixed neutrals. If you have just started a scenario and have weak units you don't want to attack some peasants and then discover that they have the support of archers too. Perhaps the neutral unit you see on the map allways is the best unit (in this case the archer).

That would make sense. Also, if they just had peasants on the map with peasants, conscripts, and brutes it would be fine.

Yes, that would work. It's cind of that way allready (peasants + conscripts). The only difference is that now there are two upgrades.

Gamespot review is up next. They mention the orcs with a now Gaia-minded culture about to bring righteous vengeance against those damned magic-wielding wizards and those oh-so-superior paladins after the things they've suffered in lotr and D&D
Storyline-wise it seems that the stronghold was not an assembled faction until the tribes hero Qurac decides to unite them.
The reviewer seems to weigh the the possibilities and benefits of charging to get the blood rage bonus or stay behind and use the archery way. I guess one can't have everything, at first I used to think that sylvan was about staying back but it's more efficient in charging and I'd believe that's best for the orcs too.
He worried a bit about theit magic supressing abilities but believes that the simple brute force nature of the Orc faction might attract new players to the franchise who are not willing to monkey about with the complicated spells, counter spells and strategies of the game's other factions. Hehe I actually like that but my gripe is that might factions except sylvan have a harder time in earlygame. Harder or slower.. Here's hoping that the orcs will be what I'm looking for in a might faction.

Complicated spells? What all two of them?  The only time you run into complications is against a counterspell abuser

My biggest gripe will be what this will do to Academy. A Wizard who's up against a Barbarian who specialized in anti-Light, anti-Dark and anti-Summoning will be completely ******. What will save him will probably be that Barbarian is only likely to have one or two of such skills, but potentially, it cold be disaster. Anti-Destructive vs. Dungeon will also be really ugly.

What was that? Anyway it's not about spell complexity but rather skill picking, effective combinations, mage guild prioritizing. When you pick two or more magic schools it can be a chaos of options

I'm worried about that too. A wizard mostly rely on magic and has low attack. If their magic has lof effect they're in serious trouble. The warlocs wil have problems too, but they have more attack than the wizards which can save them in some battles.

Btw will the orc faction be named Bastion or Stronghold? Everyone says Bastion, but on the movies i think it was written Stronghold above the unit details

They seemed to have changed that. Early info seemed to indicate that they went for Bastion, but apparantly they have discarded that for the more conventional Stronghold. French version might still stick to Bastion.
