4. Known issues
===============

Switching off the 'V-Sync' option in your video driver options may cause twitchy animation in Towns if you rotate the camera manually.

Loading a save from a version in another language may cause font and textual interface problems.

Yahoo Messenger may conflict with multiplayer. Please make sure it is inactive when playing the game on ubi.com

Any changes made in replay via Movie Maker are not present in the save loaded with the Combat Replay. Movie maker should be used to view edited replays now.

A number of maps created in the Map Editor via the Save As command from the single map will have the same names in the User Campaigns Editor and in the Custom Game Menu irrespective of the names that were entered during the save procedure.
To correct it you will need to change the names of these maps via the Map Editor in the ordinary way (View menu -> Map Properties, General Map Properties tab, a Map Name field).

To use new hotkeys in moviemaker, add the following lines to the input.cfg file located in your current profiles folder (My Documents\My Games\Heroes of Might and Magic V\Profiles folder).

bindsection replay_battle_screen
bind skip_scene 'ESC'
bind set_pause 'SPACE'
bind step_forward 'RIGHT'
bind step_backward 'LEFT'
bind step_to_start 'CTRL' + 'LEFT'
bind step_to_end 'CTRL' + 'RIGHT'
bind speed_up 'UP'
bind speed_down 'DOWN'

5. Troubleshooting
==================

5.1 Outdated or incorrect video drivers may cause some issues. Before contacting support, please check you have the latest versions of video drivers and the correct DirectX 9.0c version for you system. You should find the latest version of the drivers here:

http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp for nVIDIA graphics cards
https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27 for ATI Technologies graphics cards

DirectX 9.0c version can be found on the game installation disc.

5.2 Also, before launching the game, make sure that no other programs are running.

5.3 The game does not support playing through http proxy. The player needs a direct (real IP) or NATed (most intranets) internet connection. With a firewall, the player needs to open the following ports:

6668 TCP (IRC servers(chat in lobby))
40000 to 42999 TCP (Various ubi.com servers)
44000 UDP (CDKey servers)
45000 UDP (NAT server)
42500 UDP (CDKey local port, can be configured by the player by using the game config files, "setvar net_ubi_cdkey_port = <desired port>")

8888 UDP (The game itself can be configured by player by using the game config files, "setvar net_game_port = <desired port>")

if they continue this way, we'll never get these fixed!

Looks like we have to wait for 2.2 for that.

Or rather, we have to wait for 2.2 to catch with vanilla h5, and 1.6 to balance things out..

Probably 2nd expansion will appear faster ~~

Let the 'appear faster' probability be between 0...1, then by using the Ubival theorem:

a*Ubi + b*(Nival^2) = 0

^ is power.

we can find out the probability using the 'so far' relationship:

probability =

lim   x^2 + x + 3x - x(x+1) - (x + x)
x->0

thus

lim   x
x->0

so probability converges to 0

Please no talk about cracks ... full stop!

Back on topic ... Sfidanza report the following changes to Necromancy from 2.1 to 1.5, which I didn't see mention of in the Readme:

Quote:
The Dark Energy pool in 1.5 starts at 250 (instead of 200 in 2.1). Each Pillar of Bones adds 20 DE points (instead of 150), and the Hero bonus is doubled.
Personally, I think these are great tweaks, as it will allow a better scaling of the DE pool in late game.

Personally, I think these are nice changes - very close to what we discussed here on the board. Now they just need to add a DE bonus to Lord Of The Undead.

You have the complete table in the 2.1 manual (english, p.206). For 1.5, just multiply all values by 2, until I get around to publishing the 1.5 manuals in the next days.
I also have to add the html version of this page on AoH, I know, and I'll also get to that eventually. In the meantime, use the pdf.

I am not very satisfied with the AI. It still hunts my 1 gargoyle while I keep shooting it....The changes mention it understand players' divertive placing tactics (such as those needed to defend shooting creatures), does that mean that it defends it shooters better now then? Because it certainly does not understand it must bypass my tactics to kill my shooters.

On the bright side the combat is much faster now! It runs smoother than ever and I can hope it will be so in HoF soon!

On the game features side, 1.5 is mostly bringing the 2.1 changes into the 1.x branch: new Necromancy and Training, and a bunch of small changes here and there. However, there are some differences:

- I mentioned the Necromancy already:
* DE pool in 1.5 starts at 250 (instead of 200 in 2.1)
* Each Pillar of Bones adds 20 DE points (instead of 150)
* the Hero bonus is doubled

- Arcane Intuition (Enlightenment): spells cast by own creatures ARE learned in 1.5, not in 2.1

- Expert Attack gives +15% damage bonus in 1.5, and +20% in 2.1

- Swift Striker (Wyngaal): bonus is +0.005 per level to starting ATB in 1.5, +0.02 per level in 2.1

- Frenzy CAN be dispelled by Cleansing in 1.5. It can NOT in 2.1

- Firewall: obviously the paramount of complexity...
1.5 Firewall works almost like 1.4 Firewall:
* can be cast on creatures, but deals no damage right away
* deals damage at the beginning of the caster's turn
* deals damage on the creature turn, when walking into it or standing in it (waiting/defending)
However in 1.4, creatures attacking (typically shooting) from inside the Firewall do not suffer any damage. In 1.5, they do suffer damage, before their attack is actually performed (so the power of the attack is reduced).

While the 2.1 Firewall:
* deals damage right away when cast on creatures
* deals damage only on creature's turn (not the caster's turn), and always after its action when sitting in the firewall (for example the stack shoots and only after their attack do they suffer the firewall damage).

Finally, duration is always 3 turns in 2.1 (= SpellPower in 1.x), and damage is reduced.

wow, very nice list sfidanza! Now it's left for us to wonder whether 1.5 is just bugged, or are it the real rules ~~

Since things like arcane intuition and wyngaal change REALLY make a difference. Ok, for wyngaal I can guess it's a bugfix, but what about arcane intuition or the frenzy thing? ~~
