A typo?  I may be wrong, but it's probable that Norse Mythology was around before Dungeons and Dragons.

Death Knights, Lich Kings, VIKING races in SNOWY areas, giants in snowy areas... It's all very universal, and HOMM V ripped the concepts off of lore just as much as any other game. Come on, what are you trying to accuse them of? Of adding new and standard creatures / races?

I'd like to see you think up a race or two in specific areas that HASN'T been used in any other game before.

Saurians (velociraptors) living on the plains out west of the wefegrim mountains.  Architexture: Prarie Style of course.
Tomte/Goblins and Yeti living in tundra-y mountain slopes.
Behemoths living in the swamp.

Race + New area!

Also, it's the combination of race + location.  there are no locations that haven't been used.

Actually it does matter, especially if the original person who may have made up a particular "creature" spent many hours of work and put many ideas into creating it, and then people just copying it without the original person's permission.

Dude, it does matter.

you know what? Fine.

The Atkinson:
Atkinsons are small creatures, who as adults range from 3 - 4.5 feet tall.  They are usually green, though those who live closer to the equator of their planet are closer to yellow, and there is sometimes variation towards blue, yellow, and purple.  They have two heads, one is relativly humanoid, but with bulging eyes and giant freckles.  The other head grows from the end of the spine, relying on carillage to keep it in shape on it's foot long neck, ending in a feline head with droopy ears. They have 2 - 4 arms, depending on how old they are.  After a pregnacy period of two months, the mother lays 4 - 13 eggs, which hatch after one year.  Atkinsons start to grow their second pair of arms around 20 years of age, which is about when they go through puberty.  Lifespans are usually 120 - 140 years long, though some have lived into their 160s if they are carefull to relegate their diet, and go running frequently on their six equestrian legs, which supsend their apeish torso and feline lower body, which stretches out rather like a centaur.

Males are usually smaller, with larger horns that curl in concentric circles and are used for kocking down nuts from the red-leafed trees of their planet.  Females are larger, and their horns come out into long, pointed stalks that usually end at 9 inches, though 13 is rare, and anything in the middle is from rare to common.

They transport themselves around in giant magically floating teacups, and their battleships when they fight over territory have spouts that fire bursts of hot steam.  Juveniles sometimes ride around in flying saucers, enjoying the openfeeling that fills their fur.

Their cities are built like books: the outsides are very hard, with murals and important names, whereas on the inside buildings are unaddorned exept for writing in large black print what the building is (restraut, house, school, etc) and important events that have happened there.

Their religeon is based on the worship of the Habib, described as "The Beatuiful Lady of Order" who comes once a year at the solstice to settle all conflicts that are unsettled.  Worship involves weekly sacrifice of one pair of shorts or socks, the prettier the more favor the Habib will grant at the solstice.

They entertain themselves by trying to fly, which involves falling at the ground and missing by forgetting to hit it, and ballancing various objects on their head.  They also watch historical documents, which are made with a magical invention that shows the history of the Atkinsons as it happened.

Their planet is mostly stone, with perfectly round forests and grass sections, and a ring extactly 42 miles wide around the equator of the planet wich is entirely sand, populated by Gudeys and G'ldsoenz.

Are you happy now!?!?!

No, it doesn't. We're just discussing how all these warcraft, D&D, and HoMM creatures are all based on myths and legends. There is almost nowhere a creature that is really made up and original (as long as we stick in fantasy universes, and not in science-fiction), and those things are never used in any other games without the creator's permission. (Those games are usually related somehow, or made by the same developer)
Again, does anybody read my posts?

Nice work, by the way, Daystar!
I think his point is that in every game, there is usually somthing new. Admit it, there are a lot of new ideas in HoMM5. But if you fill an entire world with made-up creatures, it's going to have something far fetched. Plus, it's pretty cool to have all those mythological creatures at your command.

There are some places that creatures are made up and are original.

And also, ever heard of making up stuff?

That is a way where we can get new stuff that hasn't been made about.

And is this thread titled "warcraft, D&D and homm creatures are based on myths and legends"?

Reread the original topic.

I would read your post, if you would make a little more sense.

lol, sorry if I sound harsh.

btw, sure we might be talking about myths and stuff at the current time, but my post was about the original topics intent, not what some people decided to talk about.

Then I'd suggest you'd quote the original posts, and not one on the 3rd page. No use quoting that if you haven't read everything...

3 good examples from popular (Homm-like) games, please...

Yes, I actually think I used it in the part you quoted...

We're actually pretty on-topic, I'd say...We're still discussing Warcraft and HoMM (and D&D), copying from one another.

So, basically, our saying you haven't read my post because you think I don't make sense?
Eitherway, apologies accepted. (So we can conclude that you did sound harsh )
I could say the same thing about you, actually...

I took stuff from various elements of pop culture (pop = stuff that you are unlikely to know about all of)

Habib, Gudey, G'ldstone are all from the Thin Blue Line, which has Rowan Atkinson as the star.

I'm serious.  I just found out about the new expansion for WOW, Wrath of the Lich King, and they is copying off of Heroes!

New Hero Classes: We've had hero classes since "A strategic quest" and they are only introducing them now?

Hero Class: Death Knight: straight outa Heroes III!

Northrend: A land of snow and ice (grimheim) populated by a viking like people.  (dwarves of HV) with giants (thanes) that hate everyone (the fortress in general)

Introduction of runes to poweryourself up: Where have I seen that?

No new races in WotLK, but new neutrals.  New races in Tote, but no new neuutrals.

And this I'm getting just from wikipedia.

Death knight? No, they didn't rip it off, they have death knight like since WC 2, created way b4 HOMM3.
Northrend? No! Did you actually play blizzards' game?
Runes? Nah, you seen that in WC3, was way b4 HOMM5, probably 4?
