[Mod] Xazardous Mods

Hi there

Back at elrath there were some great mods made by azard. Some of them still work with ToE but others apparently need work.
I loved the mod that added a picture of the racial terrain behind each creature icon. I tried to update it for Toe but of course, with the new renegades much editing needs to be done and I do not have the original images azard used.

Anyway, with Elrath.com gone again I was wondering if you are familiar with his work and if you might happen to know his whereabouts...

Ok some update of the download links (08.10.2009):

The original Xazardous_Mods_3.0.en.rar works only with 3.0 version

These are updated MODs that work good with 1024 x 764 and 1158 x 864 resolutions and with version 3.1 of ToTE

Because of unknown problem at some resolutions the work incorrectly so some MODs must be manuallly tuned for the right resolutions:

okrane version for 1280 x 1024 Xazardous_Combat_3.1_Rage_Necro_Button_okrane_fix.h5u

Fiur version for 1440*900 and 1600*1050 Xazardous_Combat_3.1_RageButton1.3.fiur_fix.zip

alcibiades wrote a manual how you can edit Combat Mod yourself so it work with your higher  resolution:

Here's a quick rundown of what to do (for anybody interested):

1. Download Nebdars mod linked on previous page.

2. Mod folder contains 3 sub-folders: Text, Textures and UI - we only work in UI folder.

3. In main folder, you open two files:

 a. CombatScreen-Heavy.(WindowScreenShared).xdb
    Scroll down and change <size> tage to appropriate screen resolution (not sure if necessary, but that's what I did).

 b. RunesBarSnapBottomPlace.(WindowSimple).xdb
    Scroll down and shift <y> coordinate by appropriate amount to move downwards. I had to add 53 to Nebdars number to reach correct position!

4. Go to CombatArena-Heavy folder.

5. In main folder, you open two files:

 a. Open file: PlacementBar.(WindowSimple).xdb
    Change <y> coordinate in same way as descriped in 4.b. This shifts the placement bar (in tactics fase).

 b. Open file: Jogdial.(WindowSimple).xdb
    Change <y> coordinate as above. This shifts the lower-right menu.

6. Open folder ATBBar.

 a. Open file: ATBBar.(WindowSimple).xdb
    Change <y> coordinate as above. This shifts the ATB bar in combat.

7. Go back to CombatArena-Heavy folder and go to JogDial folder.

 a. Open file: OnJog-AtbToggle.(WindowMSButton).xdb
    Change <y> coordinate as above. This shifts minimize button for ATB bar.

 b. Modify files relating to all bottom right menu buttons. These are named: OnJog-*function*.(WindowMSButtonShared).xdb, where *function* relates to the buttons purpose: Defend, NextCreature, Special, Spellbook, StartCombat, Wait. A total of 6 files if I'm right. Change <y> coordinates as above. This shifts the buttons on the bar.

Notice: Don't change files relating to buttons on top menu, i.e. Flee, AutoCombat and Menu!

8. Go back to CombatArena-Heavy folder and go to RunesBar folder.

 a. Open file: RunesBar.(WindowSimple).xdb
    Change <y> coordinate as above. This shifts the Runes Bar or the Runes, not quite sure.



This is what I did, and apparantly, it works (see above shots). Like I said, when I run resolution 1280 x 1024, I had to switch 53 pixels downwards compared to Nebdars values - you will want to try by trial-and-error to find your own values, if you run another resolution.

Xazardous mods are indeed very nice, and deserve to be available here. They are not all updated for ToE yet, but it seems Azard will be updating them. Obviouslymany people are waiting for the skillwheel mod and the landscape background mod in particular.

In the meantime, here is a package containing some of his mods:

The Xazardous Backs mod adds a landscape background to all creatures and heroes (not the ToE added ones yet, until it's updated).

@Asheron: the icons themselves are not changed, only the landscape background has been added. The (ugly) hero with no chest is Temkhan: he is in the data files but has never been used.

@Legendary_Hero: I still don't get what you are saying here. Or more exactly I don't get how it's useful to anyone, hence "spam". Do you want an explanation about something here that you don't understand?

I assume it's clearer now with the screeenshot?
If you'd like more explanations just ask. But basically, these are interface mods that change the interface in the building panel, the combat screen, or add backgrounds to icons like H3 had.

One thing bugs me. After downloading combat colour mod I want to ask If there is a possibility of adding the chances of succesfull autocast to the info given while aiming.
(Whip Strike, Tarpor, et cetera)

Yeah i have been wondering this myself but i think the chance increases with number of the stack that attacks and also depends on the stack that you're attacking.(Never seen 1 footman bashing 10 Black dragons)

There is a quite simple formula for the autocast an ability.
You can read it in the manual for 3.0
Advanced game mechanics, page 315+

According to the formula: 1 footman got exacly:
25%-3%*(2400/16) chance to bash 10 Black dragons
But the chances have a fixed value of 5% minimum and 75% maximum.

Thanks for that,Oh by the way that 75% chance couldn't be an EXPLANATION about how 10 Nightmares scored fear 5 times in a roll on my 10 cyclops and the Nightmares were neutrals(Without soldier's luck) But when i am playing and i have soldiers luck i attack 3 times in a roll and didn't score anything That's very FRUSTRATING
