yep 
the year is split into 10-11 week terms, tis long enough before a holiday lol.
the 7 weeks are in our summer/xmas
is that really any different to other countries?

Ah, I see. I forgot that Christmas break for you is not only like Christmas break for us, but also like summer vacation. Here, in America, though, we usually have school from mid-August to October, where we have a few days of break, then from October to mid-to-late December, when we have Christmas break that lasts for 2 or 3 weeks, then from early January to mid-March, where we have a week of break, and then from March to the end of May, whereupon summer vacation starts, until next mid-August.
And this year will be my last. I'm going to be a senior!

Well that makes sense I guess since our big break starts in Summer as well. Right now, it is Winter down here. Too bad it doesn't snow where I am. 
And speaking of last year, I only have about 8 or 9 weeks before I finish school forever.
