Is the AI processing speed for TotE really slow or what?
I am on pentium dual core with 2GB ram.
I randomly generated a "Huge" map with 6 players.
Seems to take forever for the AI to finsh its moves.
I had to wait for 3 minutes before it was my turn after I end move.
Anyone has similar problems?

Well, I don't play huge maps because my 1GB ram can't run them properly but I did aksed in the requierments thread if ToE has larger requiermaents, since H5 ran smoothly while ToE takes time to upload, the main screen lags and entering towns and heroes takes some time.
I don't know why and what did nival do to result this

Disabling town animations in the options (the circling view when you enter the town) saves much loading time on entering the city.
Another thing I've read about but didn't try myself is lowering the AI time in the cfg file (which is set by default: "setvar ai_time_limit = 180000"). Trouble is I don't know how this would affect the AI and its efficiency.

TotE is a bit more demanding, it would seem. However, the AI taking long for it's turns isn't a new issue.
The main causes are the fact that the AI always uses several heroes, and Instant Travel (takes a long time to compute when IT would be a good idea, apparently).

@Romanov: You can switch it off in the options menu!

It was my understanding that they actually fixed the IT issue. I can't say that I have encountered it in recent games - even games where the AI heroes had IT.

I think the case is with the "randomly generated" part than the game overall. Especially when it's a very big map. There is no problem for other cases (campaign and single maps). I haven't tested this feature in TotE, but did experience the same issue in HoF.

I believe that the Instant Travel is still an issue for the larger maps. Right about the time that my main hero hits around the 15th-18th level the time between turns increases drastically. This was the case with HOF, and continues to be the case now with ToE.
I'm in the middle of playing on an impossible size random map to try to see whether I can replicate the saved game crash that I got last night on the same map after I tried to load it from a cold start when coming back from a break.
I suspect that the issue isn't a processor based one but instead is memory related. Basically, the game seems to need a lot more memory to be available when loading a game than when actually running... maybe the virtual memory doesn't work at that point.

If you really want to check out what the AI is doing during its turn, just open the fog of war; the camera will automatically focus on each of its Heroes. You can then see how they move, where they move and what they generally do.
You can open the fog by typing
@OpenCircleFog(0,0,0,9999,PLAYER_1)
and
@OpenCircleFog(0,0,1,9999,PLAYER_1)
in the console, to open the fog of war for player 1 on both the surface (first command) and the underground (second command). In single player mode, you're always player 1. In multiplayer maps, your player number varies by color (red = 1, blue = 2, yellow = 3, green = 4, orange = 5, teal = 6, purple = 7, brown = 8).

Here's a question
I too suffer from extra long comp turns on my random maps the closer I get to month 3. Since I play with time limits with my friends, is there any way I can make the comp be affected by time limits?

The theory is to try to set this lower basically.thats its time limit

I can guarantee this 3 minute time limit has been violated by the comp repeatedly since I've started playing. This fix sounds dubious at best then.

Isn't it more likely that it does not mean 3 minutes?
It's easy enough to test for yourself.
My documents\my games\trubes\profile name\user_a2.cfg
the .cfg file can be opened with notepad.
However, this isn't the only .cfg file that setvar_ai_timelimit appears in.
I can't remember right now which is the correct one...

It means three minutes. But different computers see the proccessing speed differently And its not always used in campaign maps

i watched for 15 minutes as countless heroes from 3 enemy factions enjoyed losing troops.
