I have just seen that some files will crash the game if "read only" isn't checked in the properties. for example some dark spells, even unmodded, crash the game if it isn't checked.

Yes, if the modifications contains bugs, glitch or mistake.

was the « map.xdb » modified?


I think you need of great tests as trying to load the map without mods in data and UserMODS folders.

generally a map crashs while loading when the game is putting objects in the map.

If you want, you can provide a download link to your map, I'm curious to try it.

I don't understand. I did alpha channel for textures, but nothing happen's.

For me it seems that this aint the only texture file for your model, try looking if there's more, like weapon.(Texture).dds and others.

do you mean: "does somebody want to do the job for me?"

I suggest you to compare all files used in the Lycanthrope mod with the equivalent file for the bearrider
to understand how I transformed them.

If you want just a white bear....why not to take the bearrider (the easiest one) and retexturized it to white?

It's fairly clear that the White Bear Rider's textures weren't divided into rider and bear, but rather into flesh and metal.  So the bear and the rider are both contained in one texture, while their armour is all grouped together in the other.  Ouch.

In this case, studying other mods won't be of much help.  You'll just have to look closely at the creature's model and remove the parts in the texture that closely resemble the "floating armour" from your riderless bear.

Yes.

And a trick I give you is to put spots of differents color on each metal part in the dds.

Like it, when you go in the game or editor to see the result,  you will see what color spot is on what metal part....and so to know what metal part must be transparent.

But I made correct metal transparent by giving alpha channel, and it dont work.

I replaced the stalker by the quasit and it makes the game crash.

but if you have alternated these two creatures together then
check anyway their CreatureTown tag

...

the game can crash if it doesn't find 21 creatures per town

it works now. what is weird is I didn't fix anything in the quasit.
I fixed the familiar, that I had already tested and who worked fine.

Greetings,

First sorry for this post, i cannot make my own topic so i had to reply somewhere ...

I was trying to start a map i just partially created, but it won't show up in any menus.
I am using TotE at 3.1, the map is called tiny_sp.h5m an is located at /homm5 - TotE/Maps. The map is far from ready, nevertheless i should be able to start it, right?

Other things that are realy annoying are: the editor is always complaining about the player not having a home town (which is intended; DieInWeekWithoutTowns = false) ...

Any idea why i cannot start the map in singleplayer mode?

But does the player have a starting hero?

Every player must have a starting hero or town, otherwise it wouldn't work.
