It is very simple to change the magic schools offered in a town here
(academy example!):

MapObjects\Academy.(AdvMapTownShared).xdb

Sorry I didn't notice earlier people were asking this.

thank you. but seeing the no interest in my last work, I don't think it's actually worth it to try to make a new town (since HommV lags way too much on my computer to play real games)

Is it possible to modify a utopia's strength? Not asking to modify armies, just make sure they always have medium or strong army. Also is it possible to modify the gold they give?

Heroes 5 version 1.5

Does anyone have a copy of the extracted multiplayer maps (in h5m format) for use in the map editor for version 1.5, or can anyone point me to a link with such files?

When I have a retextured skin of a creature (The Flame Lord for example), how can I use his model in the editor without replacing the Flame Lord's model?

I know you NCF-Modders do that every day, and I followed the instructions of the Modding Wiki...

...but I don't really get it. I copied Model and Material and texture (I don't think Skeleton and Geometry are needed, because it is just a skin change), but how do I link the copied texture with the dds-file ???

Oh, one thing, I just want to have the model to use it on a map, I don't want to make a new creature. So I don't need Icons, AnimSets and stuff.

Hi guys. I desperately need something on a Arena type map but i don't know how to do it or even if it is doable.

1. Is it possible to change Sacrificial Altar so that every race can exchange artifacts for experience? ( now only good races can do that, bad races have to sacrifice their units which is unacceptable on such type map ). Or maybe it is possible to change bad races to good races which might solve the problem as well. And finally how to erase the +2 luck bonus for the first player to use the Altar . I checked DefaultStats.xdb and it has only those useless lines:
<SacrificialAltar_ArtifactCostOfGoldToExpCoef>0.5</SacrificialAltar_ArtifactCostOfGoldToExpCoef>
<SacrificialAltar_CreatureHitsToExpCoef>3</SacrificialAltar_CreatureHitsToExpCoef>

Where can i find something more about that building or do i need script?
Maybe someone knows how this script should look like?

2. Is it possible to change the experience gained for barbarian heroes from shrines? For example i want them to give half of the value ( 3 spell shrine - 1500 instead of 3000, 2 - 1000 instead of 2000...). How to do it or where to look for those buildings values. Checked DefaultStats.xdb but i think i doesn't have any lines including shrines. Heroes Experience Coefficient is already changed and it doesn't affect the shrines.

A couple of ideas. The luck thing should not matter, you can simply make the hero face 1 goblin that never flees and luck would be lost with the encounter. As for shrines couldn't you set a max level?

Yes i know i can give any unit to loose the bonus but you can never be 100% sure if someone does it. He can say he had the golden horseshoe for example ( first he kills the unit and after that visits the altar). Second thing are the one time bonuses for some races from some skills or abilities which would also be lost. It's much simpler without that bonus and that's why i asked About shrines. I have max level. Barbarian always has a choice between another artifact or another level. Sphinx gives lvl 16 and max lvl is 17. But if that whole idea with the Sacrificial Altar would work than i was aiming to increase the max lvl to 18. Between 16 and 17 there is 8k experience difference and now the shrines give a total of (2x3k + 3x2k +4x1k = 16k) and it almost gives 2 levels of experience ( just one minor artie to sacrifice ). With half of the experience barbarian can have one more level if he wants it and than make another one if the arties selection was poor. Any relict gives you a level and sometimes you get a bad relict but the rest is good.

I have a big problem while editing my map - the editor crashes while saving the map and sometimes while checking out the script. The script itself works fine on a different map and the problem persists even when it is deleted altogether. Does anyone know how can I fix it? I can still edit the map but barely can save any changes.

I suggest you reinstall  the whole game. I sometimes have many different problems with editor, like: i can't see the list of the heroes or artifacts in the map properties window, don't have any objects on the whole right toolbar, same problems you mentioned - editor crashes when entering or saving the script, same story with saving a map. But all those problems vanish when i delete and install the game again. Try it.

thanks for the tip - yeah, after reinstalling the OS a few times without doing the same to the game might end up like that. I'll know for sure when I get back home to do it

yes, H5 RPE does it, but I guess you are not interested in the other 1000 changes, so try the no sounds mod here:

Got the mod.
Now what? I downloaded the .h5u file. what should i do with it?
There is no UserMODs folder anywhere( Collectors Edition patched to 3.1)
I created this folder and copied the file there and still nothing.
Further help really needed...

try rename .h5u to .pak and place it in data folder.

Hi all, I wanted to report a problem I had with the new NCF mod. I downloaded the mod with 188 new monsters and installed the framework with the new exe file. I ve put everything in the right folder but when i loaded a map with new creatures after saving previously, it will freeze in the loading screen and then it gives me a windows error... i dunno what to do... any help will be greatly appreciated... thx
