I was going to make a new thread for this to make it stand out; but nevermind.
I HAVE NEWS
Might and Magic Heroes: Kingdoms UK and German beta have launched.
One problem, the signups seemed to be turned off (players still being told that it's not launched in their country) therefore I ask all of you to try and sign up, see if you can, and if you can't then e-mail and complain ^^
Some of you with accounts should be able to log in by clicking 'register' then just logging in on the log in page

Shameless referral link
Also check out www.hommk.3deified.net (and www.hommk.3deified.net/chat) for news and the small community of beta testers left.

Welcome!
Might and Magic: Heroes Kingdoms™ has not been launched in your country yet!
We chose to open the game to players in each country only when we are sure that the quality has been raised to the top, and when we are ready and confident.
We will contact you when the game is ready to be launched in your country.

For those who haven't seen it, here are a few stills from the War for Tears video:
This reminds me of the early H5 concept art:
And another nice shot of the battle between Asha and Urgash:

Same here. Better yet, I got an email telling me the contrary. And today I tried again and thought it finally worked... only to realize they just redirected me to the tutorial.
And I spent so much time deciding on a logo etc just for a freaking tutorial.
Edit: Turns out some proxy use lets you play pretty easily. Only needed for the registration too, afterwards it doesn't check.

Worst way to 'publish' a game. Release the game only in the US and let the others waste their time on a useless freaking tutorial. I'm not gonna play this game, not even if it releases world-wide, which will never happen anyway.

Today's little surprise: temporary new UI and wandering ghosts ("No trick or treat here! Fight for your candy!"). I just wish there were more things like that.

Since Kingdoms is available in a number of countries now, here's a short summary for those who haven't followed the game but would like to give it a try.
The game is free, but there's a limit to the number of heroes and towns if you're not a subscriber, which can cripple you a lot in the late game. I've been told that some of the top players on our server are free-to-play, but I've also read some of them set alarms and get up in the middle of the night to issue orders to their troops. I'm a casual player and have been ranked anywhere between 30-300 on my server. My alliance is currently ranked 10. Don't worry about "farming" - the noob protection is 15 days, attacks are disabled at night, and pillaging doesn't pay off early in the game.
Like in Heroes, you develop a town, hire heroes and creatures and fight the monsters around the city in order to flag your mines, gather resources and artifacts, and get experience. The difference is you cannot take part in combat (it is automatic, although you affect the outcome by arranging your units prior to the battle). Also, like in all browser games, your actions take place in real time (building a Town Hall lasts 24 hours, for example).
The goal of the game is to win the War of Tears, i.e. the alliance that builds 13 Grails first wins the season. A season lasts several months, so get ready for a long game.
The most important thing is to join a powerful alliance consisting of active local players. I've joined the nearest one first, but it turned out I've made a wrong decision. The leader sent me messages in French, my neighbors didn't reply at all, and the alliance forum was a ghost town. So mid-game I left and joined a neighboring alliance. Since then I've enjoyed help in resources, joint campaigns and a busy chatroom. At this moment we have 4 Grails and 5th on the way, but there's little hope we can catch up with the leading alliance that already boasts 6. The winner seems obvious months before the season is officially over, and it's one of the biggest flaws of this game. Perhaps Kingdoms would be more exciting if there was more PvP action, but it's discouraged by traveling time and huge advantages for the defender. In other words, Kingdoms is like Sim City most of the time, while it could be so much more.
On the other hand, the good points include helpful staff, nice H5 graphics and very few bugs.
Anything else you need you'll find in the Strategy Guide in-game or in the community forums. There's also a combat calculator - be sure to check it out.
Finally, here are a few more pics:
my fully built Haven town - the only thing missing is the Grail, but I have to wait my turn because an alliance can build only one at a time
alliances in my world - unfortunately, you cannot zoom out this much in-game
finally, after four months - the Obelisk will reveal the location of a Tear soon to be in my possession!
