Heroes of Might and Magic Kingdoms: web-based Heroes by Ubi
I just posted a news on AoH about it:
http://www.heroesofmightandmagic.com/
Basically, Heroes 5 will have its web-based counterpart, Heroes of Might and Magic Kingdoms, scheduled for spring 2008. Take a look at the official site (there's a FAQ and you can register for the beta waiting list):
http://hommkingdoms.com
Note that you'll get a reserved access with Heroes Complete, if you bought it (it seems that the 20.000 copies have been sold already, but maybe some retailers still have some left)
Fabrice made the announcement himself on the new dedicated forums:
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9761084616/m/9631020716
I have to say, graphically, it looks good!
The beta should start early 2008, so we'll see then how the gameplay measures up to the graphics.

This looks awesome! And it's free, web-based and doesn't seem overcomplicated. I just can't wait 'till spring. I wanna play now.

It looks like Civ In Ashan rather than a proper HoMM, not that that's bad.

Seems fun but I am not really into it. I have only played bitefight in the past and in the end it's just a pointless waste of time. I'd rather play a normal game or surf the web instead. Though there are some addictive ones out there

Oh my goddess! This looks good and I haven't even looked at the website yet.
Going to it now. Oh, I hear it...
Music: Wicked awesome. Seems familiar...
Trailer: Well made, works for people who have and haven't played the game.
General info from the tutorial: The game seems to be 2D isometric, and graphics are even more colorful. It seems to be rather like Heroes 2 in 3D, which is of course good. All the good things from previous games are there.
However, it does not seem to be ambitious. They could at least include a new faction or two, since it is all text/still image based (Or so it seems)
They would have less work to do and fans would welcome it. I think (based on visual annalasis) that it will include Haven, Necro, Inferno, Academy. There do not seem to be any other factions, except mabey Stronghold.
I hope at least that the 8 factions from Heroes V TOTE will be included, if they are not then that's just sad.
I'll put in my standard hopes: Werewolves, Nagas, Dragon Knights, etc.

Nagas would be cool, they could use it to build some hype for HoMM VI if they're making it with new factions.

Seems intresting, but too early to say whether it's good or not.

Where did it say the game was free?
I doubt Ubisoft would do this without any kind of profit.
Edit: Oh noticed it says the game is free on the front page. Duh.

Maybe they figure to snag people who haven't played HoMM before and get them to buy the complete HoMM V set.

The whole thing is probably spiked with Ads. Hasnt ubisoft released free games that give you an ad every 15 seconds or so before?

Plus they're trying to raise interest for HoMM series.
Remember that small web-game they released before the original HoMM5 came out? I can't help but think that Kingdoms will be a more complicate version of that game and is made for the same reason - get people to try the real HoMM.

Hmm... I wonder what Fabrice actually meant by this:
Whats more, you will only need about 15 minutes a day to play
Will we have limitation, or it's a suggestion to limit ourself?

Maybe it's going to be a web-based RTS. Meaning that your resources will accumulate even when you're offline and to build all you can with these resources and use all your hero's movement points (that also accumulate with time) you need about 15 minutes a day.
It's just a wild guess though.

Makes sense. And things probobally happen slowly, so you can tell your heroes to move and such, and then in a day you can return to see that they did it.
