I thought the game meant that for the players, you can be a bastard and not let a person move back a space, closer to winning, or you can be nice and give them the thumbs up.

Since the it wasn't state that one had to be a cheesy bastard I thougth of our shy william but if I would have been told to pick a cheesy bastard my choice would of course have gone to you.

After the big wedding the newlywed couple are finally on their way...
Wife: I can't wait to get to the Bahamas, I've been sooooo looking forward to this.
Me: Um, Honey, about the Bahamas. You see I found this really good deal on a new 40 inch plasma TV with a 500 watt surround sound system with ten speakers. So I had to cancel the Bahamas trip to pay for it, but don't.....
Wife: You WHAT? Tell me you're joking. We are going to the Bahamas, right? RIGHT?
Me: If you would just let me finish instead of interrupting all the time. I was going to say don't worry because I have something else planned. We're going camping at Lake Whatchacallit. They have great fishing there.
Wife: You know I hate camping! And all you'll do is fish all day. Honey, this is our Honeymoon, what were you thinking? We've been talking about the Bahamas for over a year.
Me: Wait, there's more. I invited Larry and his wife. His wife can keep you company while Larry and I are out fishing.
Wife: You WHAT? You invited Larry to our honeymoon? I can't believe this!
Me: I was only thinking of you. I knew you'd want company while I was fishing.
Me: Honey? Honey? Why are you crying?
Wife: ---
About that time the new couple is pulling into the campground at Lake Whatchacallit. Bini starts a campfire and hands his Wife a skillet and can of baked beans to cook while he sets up the tent.
After dinner, Bini picks up his still crying wife and carries her across the threshold tent stakes and manages to get them both inside the tent.
A short time later...
Me: Honey, you're going to have to learn to blow better than that.
Wife: I'm trying, but every time I come up for a breath of air it begins to wilt.
Me: Well, it's up to you, but if you don't want sticks and rocks poking you in the backside all night, you'd better blow up that air mattress....
Wife: (mutters under her breath) And it never even occurred to you to help me, did it?

"I've only had it for a couple of weeks. I bought it for my wife (or daughter) to go to work (or college), but she didn't like it. So now I have to sell it."
You won't hear this line at a car lot, but this is the most common story there is from people wheeling and dealing from their home. They don't want you to know they are dealing, so they make up a story why they only owned the car for a couple weeks. The implication is that if they bought the car for their wife/daughter, then they checked it out themselves and they believe it is a good car. They wouldn't want their wife/daughter to break down somewhere would they? So they would have picked out a good car for them, right?
If you are ever buying a used car and you hear this story, then run away as fast as you can.
