Berserk concludes for now with the 12th episode. Apparently there's another arc planned for Spring 2017. Personally, I liked how they handled the new season, the anime stands apart from anything else. Even with the shoddy CGI, it was snowing Berserk quality. I can't wait for it to resume next year.

The [...] re-emergence was gay - heyheyhey He-man kind of gay Only flowers were missing ^^

This show should know better than alternate between colourful cartoon style and bleak cgi as the contrast is just too great. This is especially painful in this episode. Zodd's cgi form also looks pretty terrible and that's kind of a heresy. They aren't allowed to screw up such important things but I can't really blame them because they haven't even gotten the rest right either in this crapfest festival. It's my fault for watching.

Berserk's spirit is the only reason I keep watching but the art and animation keeps disappointing me. I'd like to think that the spring season 2 will look less terrible but who am I kidding. While at that I hope they get some proper berserk themes in intro and outro.

Have been re-reading berserk and I realized that they skipped the misty valley. A pity but it made sense what with its sensitive material and keeping the storyline closer on track.

Very mildly spoilerish Re:Zero.

That concluding episode of Re:Zero is solid and ties off the last arc, I was feeling things are about to get lighter but that's not gonna happen, expecting season 2 to have just as strong performance as S1.

Also didnt notice before but all the females have similar face models, Emilia's crying/happy face was totally reminiscent of Rem's not that it bothered me, was a touching moment.

I watched Arslan Senki, anime based on a Japanese fantasy novel.

At the age of 14, Arslan goes to his first battle and loses everything as the blood-soaked mist of war gives way to scorching flames, bringing him to face the demise of his once glorious kingdom. However, it is Arslan's destiny to be a ruler, and despite the trials that face him, he must now embark on a journey to reclaim his fallen kingdom.

Basically coming of age story, find yourself and your place in the world with the help of an interesting team(warrior, strategist, archer/priestess, bard) Has a medieval Eastern vibe with limited magic elements. Good animation and soundtrack, involves combat as much as tactical planning and deception.

Sounds like the Kilij Arslan (leader of the Seljuk Turks) from my Crusade studies, only vaguely I guess. Although he suffers setbacks against the invading Crusaders doesn't technically lose anything to them.

Also watching Alderami on the Sky so far it's starting to look like a cat and mouse game similar to death note with two military geniuses duking it out against each other with a host of supporting characters. Great animation and art as well as VOs.

Re:zero final episode was a solid, albeit safe ending that, as tSar has put it above, ties it off nicely this third arc. It serves as an excellent closing point for Subaru's development across this second part of the season, finally achieving what he set out for: E-M-T!

I think it's safe to assume that at White-Fox weren't sure this was going to be a huge success and decided to end the anime with a feeling of completion, cutting the cliffhanger that the original story ends...because yes, I've been spoiled of how the Web Novel ends its third arc and it's huuuge. But I'm okay with this, the anime actually surpassed the source material it's adapting (Original work is the Web Novel, which is slowly getting adapted to Light Novels (afaik they sell very well in Japan), with the Light Novel being used as a base for both the Manga & the Anime), with quite the number of unfinished animes out there it is a good point to close this first season.
Not like I doubt there is going to be an eventual second season once enough source material comes through, rem:zero has become mainstream enough to warrant a second go

If I were to review this show, I'd say that while not being a masterpiece, it has been one of the most enjoying rides of the past few years. The pacing was a bit off, especially near the halfpoint of the second part (third arc), the main character does a 180 at one point (which I did not agree with, not that fast) and there is no clear end goal nor Subaru's motivations are properly explained, but there are a lot of things the show does right: the main character goes through a Hell of character development (all good minus the 180 part), the author delves deep into the trauma of time travel on the subject's psyche, the protagonist is not the hero of the story but literally no one, presenting a fantasy setting that feels rich and not too generic; and not for one moment did I felt like the rest of the extensive cast was bland nor boring, every time any of them got some screentime, their personalities would come forward (Crush, Wilhelm, Felis and Julis truly shined in the last episodes).
Re:zero left me with the desire to see more, the waiting for an eventual 2nd season is going to be the true suffering.

snow, this went longer than I hoped it'd be. And I didn't even tackled how awesome White-Fox actually is!

I devoured Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu in just one day, I was really captivated by it at some point, but then it went downhill.

It starts lighthearted enough, with a mystery about Subaru's purpose and power, and the indications point towards a direction where he and all of those he loves manage to survive their fates woven in suffering and death. At some point, by the time he met Betelgeuse, I thought the emotional impact conveyed by the numerous death scenes he relived, by his shame and rage at those misunderstanding his situation, by his anger and despair at his own powerlessness, were all on a godlike level surpassing even Berserk, and I was absolutely craving for an amazing and powerful resolution to all those feelings, except that what I got was a very, very big letdown which made me change my entire opinion about the anime.

Subaru as a character is mostly annoying and erratic, not once have I seen him being stern in behavior, he's either goofing around or acting superior and like a smart-ass even in his best moments. He drops every feeling of resentment, fear and despair after having heart-to-heart conversation with Rem? I believe something way more substantial was required. The timely alliance was not all that bad, but the white whale fight and all that followed was unnecessarily convoluted and cliche. Wilhelm running all over a snowing flying orca to turn it into sushi for his wife was retarded. The battles in the village with Betelgeuse had no meaning beyond a clash, I mean come on he was a sin archbishop, give me something along those lines! And finally, the all lovey-dovey ending lacked character, accuracy and the anime logic was so frustrating that if it weren't the last episode I would've considered to stop watching.

With regards to many points about traveling to the past, unraveling mysterious deaths and suffering a hell of tormenting feelings in the process, Stein's Gate is not only making more sense, it's just superior. The comparison just sprang to mind.

And was it me, or does Puck have a contract with Emilia that involves destroying the entire world upon her death? What?

I wanted to like this anime a lot more, but it gave me little reason to. It could've been amazing, but ultimately failed.

Edit: However, being so harsh makes me feel I'm not doing it complete justice, so I'll say that I'm grateful for the amazing scenes, out of which a broken Rem saving and confessing to Subaru before her death in ep. 15 takes the cake. One of the best heart-wrenching moments I've ever seen.

Steins gate really? Aren't we all forgetting the true god of relife animes?! I mean when it comes down to it there's only one that truly nails what it's like and that's the The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya repeat something 16k times and nothing will change now THAT how it's done. Almost 3 hours of watching a loop.

In hindsight, what kind of director would think that endless eight would make for a good idea to air? Sure, it works out in the end because Haruhi otakus are complete masochists, but still.

Anyway, currently reading a detailed synopsis about Re:Zero's continuation in the light novels, Subaru's dense as ever but he gets toyed by some witches, including Satella, still sad to see him go through more gruesome moments and despair, but it somehow feels like he's earned it. Some interesting tidbits and plot twists, makes me believe the anime was a bit inferior and incomplete in its presentation. Oh well, guess a second season is warranted at some point, gonna see how that goes.

Something more, I really liked how the characters were more upfront and mature about their love affairs, I wished more animes picked up on that because it's appealing, at least to me.

Quick mention that I have also finished Masou Gakuen HxH, girls being felt up to gain superpowers on climax, perfect excuse for some serious ecchi. Nowhere near the level of epicness in School Prison, but good enough in its own way.

School prison was godlike because despite being an ecchi I never felt like it was there just for fanservice, it was sensible and asked the hard questions that no anime has done before, ass or titties it's something that I had to ponder over even though I dislike ecchis (prison school was different though, I mean a few bits like the mistress with her subordinates felt awkward as hell but the rest was top notch).

One Punch Man Season 2 confirmed   B O Y S ! ! !

@Stevie: I'll give a better reply tonight, for now I'll just say I do agree with you that I wasn't sold on Subaru's turnaround. The heart to heart with Rem was fantastic though, I don't remember seeing any other anime with such a deep & intimate, yet honest conversation between two people. Granted, my experience is still a bit limited on this area (but I am working on filling the gaps )

Can't comment on the obvious comparision (Stein's Gate) since I decided to wait for Re:zero to end before starting it. Once I'm done with Mirai Nikki & Psycho Pass S1, it will be next ^^

Then we agree on every level here. I too was very impressed with that conversation, part of why I like this anime is that it's way more honest and mature with intimate feelings like that. It's just doesn't make for a cure to deep trauma of the kind Subaru suffered, or at the very least the anime didn't come on it convincingly enough.

Mirai Nikki and Psycho Pass are good choices, enjoy your watch.

I know in the anime it seems like it is, everything felt all lovey dovey after that even the whale fight, figured when he got possessed we might see some serious mental trauma from that. Second season is bound to bring the frills I think they just wanted to end the first season well which I'm grateful for especially seeing how Tappei Nagatsuki an icon for sadism. For some reason he was really involved in the anime adaptation (which I hear is rare) and even handpicked Subaru's voice actor cause he sounded the most jackass of them all.

Edit Also Stevie have you seen School days? I hear it's really good but never got round to watching it.

Oh and something like Re:Zero? Erm, well A lie in April was pretty damn good imho, it's not a relife anime but it's got the mental breakdown covered.

I've been reading Pokémon Adventures manga for quite some time (though I haven't completed it yet). And it is quite pleasing to see news like these.

In short, the story about B2W2 has started two years ago and there hasn't been update in nearly two years. Well, besides those previews (where some panels are being shown to forecast events).

But it feels like it has been 3000 years...

Currently in heavy discussion over this month's issue of Attack on Titan.

Super Spoilers:

Luckily I don't believe the Walls are some type of 'The Village' type of social experiment or anything like that, I still feel the story is much much bigger than something like that (but they could very well go down that route I hope to god they don't). Like chapter 1 Eren crying and it being titled to you in 2000 years, also Mikasa's random comments that don't really make it into the anime, like (this again which could refer to losing another family, but she vents that much later on, this was different and many others think so too). I'm definately getting some kind of relife type of vibe.

Also it is important to note that the inhabitants of the Wall are small fry, that is they're not part of whatever major is going down on the outtside. We know this because the beast titan remakrs 'It's better for them to all perish here than face what is to come', sooo getting devoured by titans is a better fate than what is to come? I'm intrigued.

Also we know there's many different factions in the outside world, for instance the methods of Old Papa Yaeger differ to that of the other infiltrators - Berthold, Reiner and Annie, but the beast titan is different, Berthold and Reiner both acknowledge his status as a superior but I get the feeling they've never met before.

For a mmo themed anime I expected it to focus on fights but surprisingly it was more story-focused. Second season has more fights but the premise remains the same, everything happens for a certain goal. Also s2 ep 10 was the most epic nolifer speech I have ever seen I almost shed manly tears.

Currently mid-season 2 so no spoilers please!
