Words cannot describe how I enjoy talking to her!

Also, I'm not in love. It's totally the platonic kind of love. You know, friendship. It's all good, sweet and innocent.

A friend

And, fauch, when one says "in love" they usually refer to a romantic relationship (or the willingness to enter one), mostly, while I was mostly referring to a goody-goody platonic one. Obviously, these posts of mine will be removed in a short while

hey I didn't ask for a pic, but who she is in your life -- i.e someone you know since yesterday, or a schoolmate, or a friend of a friend, or what? etc etc...

Friend I met about four years ago, was my classmate for two years, moved to another city about a year ago. We usually took the same bus home together, had a few things in common, were nice to eachother and all that. Occasionally we talk over msn nowadays. It's kinda sad, really. When she gets online I get all happy and giggles, like a little kid.

Madness!

Don't go the road of friendship Dagoth if you feel like that. been there, done that. At one moment it will stop being enough and you will want more, trust me, you WILL. If she's the "friends aren't lovers" type which I hate personally, it will bring you a lot of unnecessary sadness because she won't feel the same way.

depends on if she really feels that way, or has been conditionned to think that way despite she feels otherwise.

Hehe, it'll be a great exercise in self-restraint.

To be honest, it's quite a common perspective that romantic love and friendship are rather different. Doesn't matter what you say, it's a rather common perspective. Now, what would you advise I'd do, then, doomforge? To me there doesn't seem much I can do.

Right now, she brings me unnecessary happiness. I have no problem with that.

I never cared for common perspectives
Well, if you feel that way, why not suggesting a relationship to her? Unless you want to be "just friends" until she finds herself a BF and forget about you. Again, been there, done that.

Friendships don't give that kind of happiness. It seems some sort of affection.

I agree, but they certainly offer their ears when u are in a bad mood, i think that it goes like this:

Friend:
Man: gives support even under heavy heat, uses distraction tactics when a friend is down

Women: actually says kind words, uses warm hugs but sometimes gives the rare feeling of sexual attraction

am i rite or wot?

She already digs someone else. She made clear she doesn't want to be in a relationship with me in a very careful and apologetic (and if I may say: very cute) way, so no that's not going to happen. I was kinda bummed first, but I still enjoy her attention and I still enjoy talking to her. I'm not lusting after her and the very nature of our platonic-friendly relationship was rather non-committal(can't change that now). I'm kind of ready to face those consequences. If she forgets about me immediately (which I sort of doubt, but I do not deny the possibility) I take on those consequences and learn to live with that. Yeah, I'd miss her horribly, but that's the risk with all relationships. I still enjoy her company and I can still play with a sort of romantic factor in our conversations.

So, no, asking her to go out is both not very practical and not valid. She would view it as betrayal anyway.
And it's kind of my thing to be a affectionate friend

See, friend? You already admitted you wanted to be more then friends.

It's always the same "Friendship" is so cruel. How long can you maintain that facade? Now you're happy, but for how long? Trust me, it doesn't last very long.

So, If I were you, I'd gradually leave the "friendship" and back off. But I'm not, so I guess you'll just have to suffer soon. Poor Dagoth

No need to lie to anonymous faces on the interwebs, I guess. Why lie to myself now? I myself am very grey on the entire issue, so might as well assume the worst. Either way, I'm not going to throw a smart friend away, just because in the future I might be dissatisfied with our relationship.

Anyway:

Not a great message of hope is there?

When the relationship turns toxic, I'll leave it behind. I'm not that selfless. I've done it once, I think I can do it again.

Then it's fine. False hope is the worst thing in the universe. But, when you are so certain you can live without it, fine Good luck, friend.

No, the worst thing is having your false hope crushed.

people seem really good at unnecessarily overcomplicate things which should be very simple. they have to invent rules to prevent them from doing things they fear they may not be able to handle, because so many of them just can't say what they really think and know it will cause things to go bad.

I don't have much experience, but I think the main problem is lack of trust. if your friend is honnest and you know what to expect, you shouldn't be disappointed (?)

As if there's a right thing to do, anyway.

Just the things that make us happy and things that don't. Though, my situation and winter's won't get a lot of respect from our peers

I'm smarter than my peers anyway

EDIT: obviously, I changed my avatar

Does that mean I have to go back and edit my comment?

There are so many people out there that eventually you find the proper combination of personalities and these problems don't happen in that particular relationship.

Edit: Winterfate I feel like you should be in a version of the Wizard of Oz: "If only I had my mojo" would be your catchphrase and then at the end of the movie you would be dressed like Austin Powers with a woman on each arm.
