Nagas were then decided to be developed more and used in the next game in the series (H6).
As you said, it was scrapped. Also it doesn't need to come back as an entire town.
Lets look away from the fans number. I do not know if it is correct with 90%. Of course it could have been cool, but what to do if much of the fans wants it, but they can't make it well? You have two alternatives:
1: don't release the naga town and make the fans angry
or 2: release the naga town and make the fans angry becouse of a crappy town. Din't see this as thing that happened, but it may happen.

Uhm because of the Naga model in the files + the naga concept art are clearly asian?
And i said there was a reason they where scrapped, and scrapped doesnt mean removed forever.
It was like this.
1. Naga in Academy (when HoMM5 was suppsoed to be in Axeoth).
2. New world, new lore - Naga becomes neutral creature.
3. They feel they can expand them a lot and as the Naga are already really popular because of Blizzard, they begin to draw concept arts of a Naga town and some creatures etc.
4. As 6 towns are already planned and it doesnt make sense to have more then 2 expansions - there is no room for the Naga in HoMM5 and the naga are saved for...
5. HoMM6! I think we were promised 11 factions here (or someone said that).
Just make a poll called "How many people wants Naga as playable race in HoMM6 (must be Ashan based)" and you will see how many that demands it (seriously, how many naga threads etc arent there?).

You know, I think most people want the Naga because it was in H3 (and they also miss the Swamp faction). Most people who want the Naga probably haven't even played Warcraft

Maybe on this forum (but not worldwide). Seriosuly, if Blizzard never created a Naga faction then Nivals naga would not exist either).
Also most people that has not played any Warcraft game seems to want the Naga as one creature (and most people want the Naga as a faction, and the H3 Naga were ice-themed).

I support Free Cities = Asian, just saying that it seems more likely that there would be a far east Naga faction then Free City asian faction (and free cities could be replaced by something more interesting, like Dragonknights or Insectoids or Faceless).

I see nothing wrong with having both a 'Chinese' faction and a Naga faction, after all, the Naga are likely to gravitate, I feel, an Indian/SE-Asian style of architecture than a Far Eastern/Oriental one.

Well I also like Nagas. Just to add a totally random voice to the chorus.
On a side-note, remember that Naga = race, Asian = theme. It does not make much sense to talk about a Naga faction vs. an Asian faction. The issue is rather whether we want both a Naga Asian faction and a Human(?) Asian faction, or whether that's too much (meriting either a non-asian Naga faction or no human Asian faction). Personally, I favor an Asian Naga faction (as the only Asian faction) but that's just my oppinion.
And as for the Elf factions, do remember, we have a Sylvan Elf Nature-themed faction and a Dark Elf Dungeon-themed faction. They are not that much alike (although I would have favored a drow dark-elf look rather than the current emo look).

I personally don't like the Idea of an Eastern-themed Naga Faction. I prefer the Nagas to be Meso)ameraican, Maya culture and consorts.
A Far-eastern Faction called the Free Cities could and should work.
But again, why create the Free Cities (another Human town), when you can create the Dragon Knights, Nagas or a Race that lives in the West or the Shrouded South? (like Insectoids, Orgres, Beastment, Lizards,.. you get the point).

Actually, Indian/SE Asian works perfectly with the Naga, and not just because they invented them either, leave Meso-America to the Lizardmen.
