That map doesn't show the whole world, though. Ivalice is just one of three continents.

It's not dating sim, it makes the game more interesting

And I used to call Cloud Gay-man because he is pretty confused if you ask me. Two hot chicks around that almost openly express their affection and not even a slightest hint of interest from Cloud, wow, he must have balls of steel All he ever talks about is Sephiroth, Sephiroth, Sephiroth Plus the gay scene at the Honey Bee Inn and Barret date, ugh. I think Cloud was bisexual. If he didn't bang Tifa below highwind, I'd say he was the first openly gay FF character

As for Tidus, I liked the fellow. I don't get it why people hate him so much

As for Squall's sudden promotion.. ughh, I think there are worse things in both games than that. It's heavily implied that Squall was extremely talented in many parts of the game, so that, even if surprising, has some point.

On the other hand, random Shinra grunt named Cloud owning everything around does not.

I don't know what's the case in FF Tactics as Ivalice is used there as well but in FF12, Ivalice is the whole world. They even talk about the world of Ivalice.

Still don't believe me? Open FF12 Manual and see the story page, the first sentence: "A world called Ivalice..."

The three continents of Ivalice are called Ordalia, Valendia and Kerwon.

Right before they went to the northern crater, the moment when they got alone in highwind

You need a good "reputation" with Tifa to see the "good" dialogue.

It's ambiguous but one of the major Square people (Nojima, I think) said once that they had a more suggestive scene planned there, but ultimately had to change it

It's just Cloud's personality. Plus, remember the Gold Saucer date scene. As for Cloud chasing Sephiroth, that's perfectly understandable. Sephiroth burned Nibelheim down, which resulted in Cloud's mom's death. No wonder he wants revenge.

Quote:

Cloud didn't know that he would get into a gay situation at the Honeybee Inn. As for the Barret date, nothing happened on that at all - it was purely humorous.

Quote:

All he did was say "Huh?" and whine about his old man. He was perhaps the lamest playable character in any FF - even worse than Vaan.

Quote:

Yes, but it takes more than fighting skills to lead an army.

Also, what do you think about the expanded FF7 world - CC, DoC, BC, and AC? I played DoC, and thought it was okay. I haven't played CC, but I saw some of the cutscenes and battles, and I am somewhat familiar with the story. The whole Genesis-Angeal-Sephiroth trio is teh pwnage.

I liked the prequels, they attempted to clear the confusing storyline and make it more interesting - and succeded (although I still'd prefer Cloud to be a SOLDIER, not a random wimp) - but AC sucked. Tifa looked awesome in it, and that's it. The fights were imho poor (even the Angael-Sephiroth-Genesis battle in CC looks ten times better - and it's PSP), Sephiroth felt forced there (and with a poor reason to pop out) and his failure was also a bit forced (Nomura continuously states Sephiroth is the most powerful entity in FF7 world, and our weak wannabe SOLDIER beats him again, yawn - Hollywood aka he got desperate and knocked the big guy out cold with a single kamehameh.. umm.. omnislash version 5*, although he has been tossed around for 20 mins..). The music sucked as well, except the One Winged Angel remix and perhaps "cloud smiles" (but it sounds better in the japan tour album - named "Advent Children" there..). I'd say it was too short. Everything happened too fast and with absolutely no care for personalities. Argh.

Also, First Tsurugi (his sword) looks stupid. Too big, too bulky. Buster sword had some naive charm. First Tsurugi just sucks. I like the core of this sword, though (the one he uses to fight Reno and Rude). It looks good, should be his weapon of choice imho.

Oh, and Dirge of Cerberus is a disgrace towards the Final Fantasy VII series. The game is totally BS and has a poor gameplay;/

* It's called "ultimate war god slash 5.0" in Japanese. Rotfl.

I guess you can say I am one of the 'ultimate' FF geeks.  I played em all, even the Japanese ones..when they were still not normally available in the states.  Believe me, not being able to read Japanese, those were hard.  I played em pretty much in order..though I played 10 before 8.  So it was 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,10,10-2,8,9.  Never played the online version.  Want to play 12 and 13..but don't want to get a ps2 just for 12 and can't afford the system for 13.

I like 7 the best.  But I like 10-2 and I may be the only one who does.  (Come on how often does rpg's get not only a main female lead, but 3 of them, with no male 'heroes' at ALL?).

As for 8, been forever and a day.  Would like to play it again, but have to wait till they make it for like the DS or something.

And Yes Dirge should be striken from the books, burned, and never spoken of again.

Really sick, doomforge

I started playing FF series about 6-7 years ago and my first game was FF IX and to be honest i really liked it: 8 characters, 4 in a battle, zidane looked a little funny but his weapon was really cool ( dagger or two daggers synthetised into one) and his special skill was awesome also. Maybe the only minus in FF9 was that it was too childish, not so serious like FF8 or 7, and meant more like for younger players. When in 8 the main difficulty in the game was to obtain the items for better weapons then in FF9 it was treasure hunting with chocobo. You got the finest weapons and items only with chocobo and finding the places around the world was quite hard and took many many hours.
My gameplay characterises perfection , i want to complete the game 100%. In 8 i got all the GFs and highest weapons and in 9 i beat ozma and got also basically everything that was meant to get.
My last game was 7 and to be honest i didnt complete this one, i got so annoyed and bored with all the pointless back and forth tripping around the world ( it started with hunting down yuffie until the ancient key part) and i managed to continue until i just couldnt find , i dont remember if didnt get ancient key or didnt find that ancient place or stuff , and i didnt find any help with that from web too and then i quit, was so angry with all the time wasted, but it was many years ago.

Would like to play again , but the graphics is really low and idk if my PS works anymore or if i even have it anymorexD. Also am i ready to contribute so much time on it again

To conclude, FF series is one of the best in the world and sad that they dont make them for PC

LightCrusader: Try ePSXe, you can get better graphics on a PC using the same PSX version of the game, with exclusive PC-only features (save where you want, no loading time at all, an option to disable the frame limiter => 600 fps on a good PC which speeds up the game ten times, very useful at long walking parts that you want to accelerate if you ask me or to skip KOTR animation if you really want to use it..).

Elvin: PS2 is also emulated well but you need a powerful PC. With alternative graphics plugin, the graphics are absolutely flawless and very clean. There were some problems with emulating FFX-2 and FFXII, but I guess they have been fixed now. FFX worked flawlessly back then (1 year ago)

Not sure what you two are talking about, but I hope it is backed and owned by the company that makes Playstation .  Since you probably know the CoC I am sure it is though .

You can get the playstation for 49, and the ps2 for 99 if you really want.  Me..I don't even want to pay the 49 just to play a few games then forget about it.

In order to feel "legal" with PS2 emu, you should have an original ps2, yes (because of the bios). The emulator itself is legal. Bios isn't, though (not without PS2).

In order to feel "legal" with the game, you should have an original copy of it, yes.

But they are not required for the emulator to work (you can download the bios and the game but that ofc violates the license)

Doomforge:
I liked AC, and the whole thing with the avatars of Sephiroth. As for Sephiroth getting overconfident and Cloud killing him, yes, that was a bit forced, but I still liked it. But Cloud's sword was awesome.

As for Dirge of Cerberus, I liked it. It's a fun shooter, and the plot isn't that bad, plus you play as Vincent! I liked the Tsviets battles; they were pretty fun.

Mytical:
You liked 10-2? I just looked at it, decided the whole concept was fanservice at its worst, and didn't even bother trying it. Maybe if the cast wasn't all-female and so scantily clad...

Both:
Square makes good RPGs. But when they try to combine an RPG with something else, like a dating sim (FF8) or a strip tease (FF10-2), they fail.

Though I've played all of the FFs, I've only beaten 7, 8, 9, and 10. I almost beat 12, but I lost interest at the very end, because I didn't want to powerlevel to beat The Undying. Plus I hate palings. They're probably one of the worst ideas in an RPG ever.

Why wouldn't it be possible to comphrehend a region as a world?
To answer your earlier claim, Ivalice being a continent, it is not likely as it is clearly said there being three continents in Ivalice therefore making Ivalice something larger than a continent, a world.

Quote:
But I like 10-2 and I may be the only one who does

I think X-2 lives on behalf of X. It uses most graphics from X, and although there are some new graphics as well, (some caves for example) they are very unrealistic, clumsy and angular.
About the story, it couldn't survive on its own; it requires the X-story behind it.
About the music, it's very lazily-made, no orchestral pieces, only computer-made with few exceptions.
Also the characters, are very unoriginal and full of clichés.
Gippal is the only one who pleases me.

You can clearly see they haven't put much effort in making this game.
