I'd really like to know what everything thinks of the various contests that have been posted over the past few rounds. Which contests they liked/disliked, and giving reasons why. So yeah. I think it would assist me in making better contests for everyone.

Well, I have to say I hated that love letter contest. It was terribly limitting, and in a way that made me go "wtf am I supposed to do?"
In my opinion, contests should be pretty open-ended. Under Leo_Lion's reign, we frequently had contests like "submit something somehow related to ____" and people would enter with poetry, drawings, comics, jokes or music. Anything at all. I like a contest that doesn't restrict you to a specific medium.
Which is not to say that a contest telling you specifically to write something (or draw or whatever) is bad. It just shouldn't be overly narrow. Also, some contests make it difficult to submit anything worthwhile without having significant ability in the medium.
An example of an excellent contest, in my opinion, is the current tournament's final one. Then again, I'm still having difficulty even deciding on what I want to do, so I may end up cursing you for it
Also, I am rather sceptical about the "triple" contests for this round.

QUESTION: if we 'defend' some other member, do we HAVE to post it NOW that we do, or does it work like Guerilla Tactics?

All of them special abilities work pretty much the same. It's best to use them once the contests are declared.
