Phoenix1,

please now give me more detail, the map was generated by Heroes V'RMG? do you have the NCF framework 3.1 + MegaPack?
and do you have the level 4-7 dwellings mod?

and in your screen shot ' im not able to see others options in the list, are some of them checked?

========================================================================

EDIT January 6th 2010

a bug was discovered in RTMG.pak concerning the "Replace Military Posts by Faction Dwellings 4 to 7" option.
if unchecked, RTMG will still modify the links about dwellings and so the Military Posts will be invisible in the map especially if the Towns are random while the creation of the game.

I don't know if it's the cause of your bug, Pheonix1 but may be.

I will release soon a new update.

Hi,
no I don't have the NCF framework 3.1 + MegaPack, 4-7 dwellings mod. Only use RTMG to create template and then map was generated by Heroes V - RMG. Btw I never check "Map generated by Heroes V's RMG".

good.

your RTMG.pak is corrupted because it contains links about level 4-7 dwellings.
You can read my edit in my post further up

if you know how to open RTMG.pak then you can try to delete this folder inside:

RTMG.pak\MapObjects\_(AdvMapSharedGroup)\Dwellings

then start your map.

that's the fix I will release.

P.S:
if you don't have the NCF framework and all of that, you must go to the Creatures panel --> Menu --> Creatures and uncheck « Include NCF » element.

the button « Creatures » opens the Creatures panel.

Hi TroggyMan,

so with a future permission I might even release my retouch pack for the public

probably you should get the permission from each individual modder creatures you modified.

A question though, the RTMG crashes when I try to change the base creature for a unit. To bypass this, is it simply necessary to only fix the base unit so it's upgrade is this other unit?

yes, modifying the basecreature of a creature makes RTMG crashs. that is a bug
and it will be fixed in the next release soon.
but I warn you should make a copy of your *.dat files from RTMG's root folder
if you don't want to lose your job.

That would be logically impossible as most of them are gone forever, so I guess I will just release the skins at some point.

RTMG seems to have reset all units at a random fit, so I have lost a week's worth of work rebalancing. I think I'm going to give up at this point as I am getting tired of redoing all of it. Sorry if this isn't helpful, but I can't really say what happened since there was no error report whatsoever.

I still have the old build's .pak file, but due to how the RTMG now works all of it is useless.

1 - RTMG.pak can be byassed by others pak files containing overdated files.

and/or also

2 - these pak files can be imported in the RTMG to update the database ...and RTMG.pak

then RTMG.pak will equal these mods...

That is true, but is a fairly tedious process. I believe the problem could have been related to that the backup data is not openly stored (as in folders) but in .dat files. If possible, this could avoided by having data for units being read from a folder, which would be a safer bet.

However, I will not blame you if this is beyond possibilites at this time. You have done an excellent work on the RTMG and as far as I know it could have been a freak accident done by an irresonsible antivirus program.

I ask, is it possible with the new version to import old unit data, and if so, how? Transfering .dat files have proven to not work at all (unless there is some order it should be done in I am unaware of), and to edit the .pak file directly is confusing and tiring.

to crush the 3 .dat new files with your 3 old ones containing your data is supposed to work
or just rename RTMG.pak by any another name (keep .pak) and try to import it (Megapack will be required in folder but will be invisible in the importer)

that could work.

Hi,

First of all, great job with this great program! I used to run version 1.5.0 a lot to create maps. However, I waited a lot to use this version, and can't seem to get it working.

Is this what I'm supposed to do to use all of it's functionalities?

1) Put the NCF Framework .pak on the data folder, and the binaries on bin
2) Put the NCF Megapack .pak on the data folder
3) Install the NCF Megapack
4) Put the FactionDwellings Mod on the data folder
5) Start running RTMG

Everything works fine at first, I create the template and generate the map on TOTE. The thing is that when I go to AdvMap and want to add the NCF stuff, I go to Creatures>Menu>Creatures>Include NCF and the program crashes. I don't know what's wrong!

Also, when I go to Import Objects the list is blank. Is that supposed to be like that? (I have no other mods than the listed)

If someone could provide some help I'd be most thankful. I really wanna try this out! I'm submitting a couple of screenshots (my winXP is in spanish but the error message is familiar to everyone) just in case.

Hi sylandro,

thanks for the report.

yes, I have the bug too

very strange because the exe crashs but that works when the code runs in the development platform.

so, i'm checking the problem to know and understand why that's happening.

=========================================

EDIT:

the bug is fixed.

so a new release very soon.

Hi, thanks for the super fast update! You're one commited developer.

I managed to check the "Include NCF" option, but this time the program crashed when I clicked on Generate (after some minutes of generating time)...
