Blizzard really knows how to hype with snowing great cinematics....such a pleasure to watch.

Looking forward to the campaign, from what I spoke with one of the invited to the Paris press preview, it will be harder than WoL one...which is good, since WoL was quite easy

It seems kind of silly, but other than getting a new campaign to play through, the 2nd most exciting thing about an expansion to me is getting new terrain for the ladder games

You serious? This is so pompous that it's barely watchable. The Terrans look like toys - and I don't mean just the size compared to... where do they get these Ultralisks from anyway? And the whole battle is incredibly artificial - even for a dream.
This on the other hand was a damn well-made cinematic. Still one of my favourite.

My favorite Starcraft cinematic

Acturus Mengsk is awesome. I hope they don't kill him in the expansion. He's too cool of a villain.

I love the scenes where it changed tone to represent the other races. The abandoned constructions gave me chills as a child. (especially that eerie background noise)

I miss the old, much darker Starcraft. In SC2 the cinematics are just full of cliché dialogue. Just compare Arcturus speech there to the pointless stuff Kerrigan says in the HotS intro.

Obviously the battlecruiser is just arriving. Moreover, this is a UED vessel (should be "Alexander") which is not there to help at all so it certainly makes sense if the marine was expecting something different.

They already killed him and humiliated the corpse in Wings of Liberty. From a clever megalomaniac he's been turned into dumb, predictable, cliches-spewing pseudo-tyrant who can't even control his own media.

Don't get me wrong - I also like more SCI over SCII, just that I also love SCII cinematics

My favourite cinematic from old StarCraft is The Amerigo

So, is any of you people going the get the SC2: Heart of the swarm?

If you are, please elaborate?

Unless people have not bought the old one,i would find this descision ok.

But seriously:

SC2:WoL was a full game and had a multiplayer. Now these idiots are charging full price for 2 new units per faction and an extra campaign? Really?
I have seen and possessed expansion packs from companies that were not as greedy and those expansion packs added new factions + extra units for the existing factions.
Supreme Commander Forged Alliance was standalone, added a new faction, extra units and buldings for the existing ones and a New Campaign and they charged half-price for that.
Dow 2: retribution did that aswell.
Dowark Crusade did that aswell.

What the hell?

They are milking on Blizzard sheeps and idiots apparently, because no way in hell is an expansion worth a full price. The development costs would be much lower than the initial release.

They actually say its standalone and that might be a reason for this but that will fragment the playerbaase.
Blizzard is ripping people off blatantly here,
I gotta give them credit though, they made EA get the second place in my heart as the worst publisher/developer.

Yes I know, activision does the publishing but yeah. Pure rip off.

Meh. I'm going to get it and I already know I'll like it. How? Simple. I can see the future.

Blizzard works really hard on their projects and they deliver.

Video games are very reasonably priced compared to most other toys for big kids. $40 worth of literature, movies, food, booze, or Russians aren't going to entertain me nearly as long as Heart of the Swarm. Then again the Starcraft franchise is my #1 favorite of all time. They'd basically need to include a living kraken in the game box to keep me from buying it (think of the shipping charge. amirite?) Otherwise they have made me their loyal unwitting puppet.

Yeah, it's way overpriced. 98% of videogames are, it's nothing new.
Hell, StarCraft 2 was just the first game in a shiny dress.

But hey, at least Blizzard isn't charging people for patches to fix their broken games...

First of all, have in mind that StarCraft won't have a fourth race. Never, at least in SCII.

If you look at the content it adds, it's not overpriced: new units for each race in multiplayer, a new campaign (20 maps, I wish it was a bit longer) and lot of improvements and additions to bnet 2.0 : clan system, group system, new UI, new and better ia (with more levels), skin for units, Customizable observer UI, watch replay with others, resume game from replay, leveling stuff, new animations (dance, death) for the current units....

A lot of stuff as you can see. Then, why I also think is overpriced?

Because a lot of this should have come with the base game, but Blizz decided to save it for HotS...and a few things for Legacy of the Void as well (in game tournaments).

Blame Activi$ion!

$40 isn't full price. Though it's more than a what they charge for a regular expansion I guess.

Heart of the Swarm is going to be awesome, trust me I know, I have the Beta. Anyway it doesn't just add more units it add so many other improvements that alone would make this expansion worth it.
Since I am a fanboy, I'd even buy it just for the campaign and that it with me knowing that the story will be cheesy as hell.

However I really think that it should be standalone. If Blizzard wants to introduce this game to new players, they need to make it as accessible as possible. Maybe not standalone for HotS, but Legacy of the Void must be at least.

Diablo III?
Blizzard are not what they used to be as far as I'm concerned. Since I don't care about the new units and have no interest in playing on-line vs. rabid red-eyed degenerates (in your face ), the only thing left is the campaign which I fully expect to be terrible as far as the story is concerned. Maybe if the feedback is positive, I'll think it over, otherwise it's a no go.

I hope there are more accessible means of spending your minerals with zerg. If you choose to go for an air strat (which I'm biased towards in all races) it's such a macro choir to keep your minerals count down. Lings are just too damn cheap. You birth out seas upon seas of them from your expos and you still got money to spend.

You get a more balanced ratio with ground (ling/roach/hydra/infestor/ultra) between gas and minerals. Roach/mutas generally isn't an optimized strategy because you're already sucking up all of your gas. It's basically air and then flooding the enemy with lings with your excess money. You can use the excess minerals to cover the map in creep and buildings, but an airforce is already demanding on micro and it's damn challenging to be playing turbo-builder without making a dire mistake on the front. You turn your back for a second and your dumbass cluster of mutas fly themselves ass-first into a group of thors or something and all explode into an unholy ****storm of fertilizer.

This doesn't seem to be as much of a burden for terran or toss. I have such a hard time keeping my money down with zerg (in master's leagues people are always aggressive with expos) Having tons of money sitting around is sloppy.

(made this post after losing with zerg)

Better create 100 spine crawlers so no ground army breaks your bases!

You know, in HotS Terran got the Widow Mine, which basically is a missile launcher, doing 120 AoE damage in one single shot every 60 seconds...you will like them

Really, all battles in StarCraft II are too fast. You don't pay attention for 2-4 seconds and you may have lose the game.

In BW you had time to react
