Oh yeah, colossi = 1A with stupid range and aoe damage, so great -.-
Compare it with reavers in BW, where you had to micro them with suttles, upload and download them, create scarabs, focus the most clustered units...

I suck with the Protoss, but I've been throwing hours at them to make something work and I'm very slowly starting to improve. The start is good but anything past that is utter tripe.
Carriers for me <3 (shame they don't have any actual weapon systems)
Also the protoss have the most sex appeal:

I don't think colossi are a noob unit. You still want to focus fire with colossi on the ideal units/area, plus being able to move over terrain adds a tactical element, and you need to try to position them properly to keep the rape-by-aa at a minimum, or at least force them to suffer for it.
Building scarabs basically amounts to selecting them and pushing the 's' key a bunch.

When you have 3`colossi you simply don't focus on the ideal units/area, that plus you have to take care of protecting them (blinking stalkers to deal with enemy corruptors/vikings) and warping units and dealing with enemy drops/harass etc...

Started on my brutal play-through last week, and idk, I find the game far easier than ever before, it's all about the know-how and everything else just falls into place I guess. I've also seen my online performance improve substantially (don't mean the scores, but actual performance)
I didn't think that I'd buy HoTS, but feeling really good about SC2 right now. Also I fell madly in love with archons

But you cannot shuttle crush with colossi as you could with reavers.

OKAY.... THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED AS A NOOB, THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN MISSING!
What is this magical power? SHIFT! The power of shift. All this bloody time I've been doing things one...by one. Warping units from 16 warpgates was a total agony, for one thing being at least 100% slower than using shift, but also because of the frustration of the fact that you often end up clicking on already porting units so it goes off the gateway menu.
And building. Jesus Christ, have you ever tried building 3-7 warpgates by clicking or hotkeying through two tabs then selecting then clicking, repeat it 7 times and it takes time and absolutely cripples you.
New players should be introduced to the importance of shift instantly. I never even considered that it had so many uses, POWER uses, spamming abilities in a blink of an eye, walling things off in an instant with pylons. I always thought that it was just for patrols, which I had in my previous RTS game so I didn't really take notice.
Learning to use shift is an absolute must, I lost so many games because I was warping peeps in at snail's pace (I was using hotkeys, but still agonizing) And building, especially for the protoss, where late game I needed to build 20 gateways and 5 starports, I just don't have the time investment to do this crucial thing, not to mention the pylons to support it)
To sum up, SC2 has been an absolute breeze since I found shift, an absolute breeze. (I'm still a noob, but this tool helps so much in every aspect of my gameplay)

And yeah, Archons are so puurty. I wish I could see them more but they're kind of a unit-specific unit. They're great for clearing out ling/zealot spam and balls of mutas or phoenix but they don't have much function against terran. They can be good against a ball of marines but focus fire will take them out fast and you're losing a hella lot of gas, and there's really no point taking two perfectly good templar and making an archon out of it when you have storm at your disposal. They kind of break even going up against banshees (if the terran micros them), and vikings have far enough range that it's tricky to an archon or two up there to start ****ing them up.
What's you guyses overall favorite unit?  (in terms of overall coolness and enjoyability)

Archon just as any unit dies without a buffer, hence even as simple addition as Zealot + Archon is just suberb coool and effective combination.
I am really liking the new Viper Ultra + Viper baby!
