A brief return to World of Warcraft. Not to blizz servers however As I think they've screwed up with mists of pandaria completely. and I'm not talking about the setting or the pandaren. A nice Cataclysm private server, in terms of it's quality.
basically just mucking around, trying classes other than Shaman and such.
very few dungeon runs, because server is overrun by elitist pricks and other ugh... people not right in the head. and half the crap is closed off anyway. but they do operate a separate instant 85lvl toon server for screwing around in Battlegrounds/Arena which is nice.
other than this MMO everyone on HC dreads, I've been playing some C&C Generals: Zero Hour and Freelancer.
Oh yea. Freelancer. Appearantly the guys who develop Star Citizen are behind this.
Never been into space combat games, but this really got me hooked on. everything's done really nice. the controls are simple, combat is pretty straightforward and the story is also pretty nice as well.
Got me grinning at all the names of planets/spacestations in the starting area. heh.
been only several hours into the story on this, and it's written quite well. side missions as you expect are dull and repettive, but the story missions make up to it.
really worth to check it out if you haven't done so already.

Picked up Spelunky HD. Some pretty neat new features in it, although the original had better music.

Got Dark Souls since it was on sale, and trying to play through it. I haven't gotten to any particularly difficult parts yet, but the controls are really clunky, so I'm not sure I'll continue.

If you have an Android phone, I highly recommend Pixel Dungeon. Free little roguelike with options for donation, you get everything without paying though... and no ads. It's almost perfect.

good lord.
I didn't realised what kind of a whiny, sissy, soft motherbleeping spoiled pussy Jason was at the beginning of the game. Jesus. And it persists through the entire game. good lord, that's the worst fps protagonist ever.
but then again this whiny pussy is the new cliche for an action hero, which surpassed the classic retired spec ops beefhead.
I really hope they do better in the fourth game.

Nono, you misunderstand Kip. Basically that whiny pussy = lvl 1, i.e don't know **** about nothing. So as you progress, your testosterone level increases, and your abilities too. The voice actor gets a wee bit manlier, the voice remains the same, but the snowy dialogue is lessened, and generally more authoritarian.

The Freelancer feature in the Floris mod of Mount & Blade sure is a different way to play. You get to play as a soldier serving a lord, rather than be a lord yourself.
Really good if you're just in it for the fights!

I love how you can decide your upgrade path, but it's damn shame that you do not keep your earned gear once leaving. I mean I spent 180 days with a lord to level almost to max, and at the end I ended up loosing all the gear I earned honestly. (unless you desert or take a leave and find a way of storing it, companions maybe.
Since I had some skill in archery I usually looted the battlefield for some bows, a real challenge to survive a 1000 v 1000 battle when you're character enters at the beginning.

one part yes, but the whole sissyness still remains while skinning animals.
I mean seriously. during the course of the game you murdered many and lots of animals which you made into bags and crap. that's enough to get over the disgust factor? no?

Anyway, speaking of rougelikes, I'm playing this new version of Delver. Simple graphics and a nice atmosphere worked like a charm on me. I suggest you try it out, too.
Basicly, you have to navigate a randomly generated dungeon, get the artifact and get the hell outta there whilst fighting a variety of monsters and other treasure hunters.

...I abandoned the idea of freelancing after getting sacrificed as arrowfodder for about the 10th time.
It did give me terrible insight into the life of the common soldier however.
Now I lead a Sarranid slaver band, making big bucks. In Floris they have a dedicated mace cavalry... amazing stuff. Just rushing down looters and bandits with this ragtag group of clubs-on-horseback in wedge formation.

playing Second Sight. nice array of possibilities in this game, with combinations of weapons and psychic powers. the only annoying thing is the infinite respawn of some enemies, especially when the alarm goes off, I got stuck in some places, because you have enigms to solve, not that they are hard, but when waves of enemies are constantly pestering you, it's hard to figure what to do.
