MAP

Classic duel Map 2.0

A recap on the map features in case someone has not had previous experience on the map. It is suggested that you play at least a couple of games before starting the official games.

Map Features

- Army strength is that of week 7, sphinx gives lvl 19 (20 with Dark revelation).
- You may choose one of the three artifact areas, 2 major and 3 minor arties in each. No relics besides ring of machine affinity.
- A number of the artifacts has been removed for balance purposes.
- Armageddon, word of light, cotn, divine vengeance, earthquake and rune of charge banned.
- Sorrow is given by default in the middle area and will not appear in guild/shrines.
- 2 witch huts help with skill diversity.
- There are no specialties, campaign heroes are enabled.
- All factions except sylvan start with ring of machine affinity.
- Tent has 5 healing shots as opposed to 3. Warmachines in general are a viable choice despite army strength.
- Orcs can buy shatter dark for free.

New:

- Priests back in avenger.
- Haven has 5k less gold to avoid training abuses.
- Orcs have a second town with lvl 2 warcries.
- Knight Nicolai removed due to an issue.
- Stamina gives +5% hp instead of 10%.
- Corrupted soil does 4dmg per hero lvl instead of 3.
- Stunning blow decreases target's atb by 15% instead of 10%.
- Banshee howl gives -2 morale and -15% initiative instead of -1 and -10%.
- Divine benediction boosts init by 15% and defense by 2 instead of 10% and 1.

Rebalanced Units

ACADEMY

- Master genie +5hp (E)
- Raja +1 speed (E)
- Battlemage +1 dmg
- Elemental gargoyles 35% vulnerability instead of 50%
- Storm titan's call storm does 15 dmg instead of 10

DUNGEON

- Mino guards +3 def (E)
- Brisk raiders +2 max dmg. (E) Ride by attack does 0.5 dmg instead of 0.25

FORTRESS

- Mountain guards +1 init (E)
- Lava dragons +1 init. Liquid breath does 15 dmg instead of 10
- Berserker +5hp (E)

HAVEN

- Crossbows 2-6 dmg instead of 2-8
- Marksmen 3-8 dmg instead of 2-8
- Zealots advanced RM instead of expert
- Seraphs advanced DV instead of basic, expert RM instead of advanced

INFERNO

- Overseers +2 speed, 2-4 dmg instead of 1-4, +1 init
- Cerberus 5-6 dmg instead of 4-5
- Pitlords +2 speed (E), +1 init (E)
- Archdemon +1 speed/init (E)

NECRO

- Archers +1 att (E), +4 def (E). +1 min dmg
- Vampire lords +1 att/def, 8-12 dmg instead of 7-11, +1 speed (E)
- Vampire princes' torpor factor 2 instead of 3
- Banshee's death wail 15 dmg instead of 10

STRONGHOLD

- Foul wyverns +20 hp (E) Venom 10 instead of 5 dmg
- Sky daughter chain lightning at advanced mastery instead of basic
- Maulers +5hp. Gains +2 hp at lvl 1 rage instead of +5
- Witch doctors +1hp, +1 init (E)

SYLVAN

- Sprites 2-3 dmg instead of 2-2 (E)
- Wardancers +1 att, +3 def, +1 speed (E)
- Master hunters 6 att/def (E) 6-8 instead of 5-8 dmg, +1 init (E)
- Druids advanced stone spikes instead of no mastery
- Pristines get free light spells at advanced instead of expert

ELEMENTALS

- All elementals except air have 10 init now. Air unchanged
- The 70% neutral spell reduction is gone so water elementals are useful again
- Water elementals icebolt now at expert mastery and circle of winter at advanced

Besides a few specialty tweaks almost all changes are meant to help the weaker upgrades that are almost never picked. Don't bother memorizing anything, just know that they don't suck anymore  
(E) in a certain tweak means they now share the same stat as their alternative upgrade.


TIMETABLE

 The timetable will be as follows: The tournament starts today 21/7/'10 right after the final version of the map is uploaded here! The tournament ends at most 30 days after that, so that everyone has enough time to participate without feeling anxious.


FORM

 1) The tournament will have 2 basic stages. The "superleague" stage and the "final four" stage. In the "superleague" stage each of the 8 (currently) participants will play 3 duels with every other player, resulting into a 35 duels (in an 8-player league) per player in total. Each victory is worth 3 points and each loss 1 point.

 2) In the "final four" stage, the 4 players with the highest points will participate in a smaller tournament of 4 (In case of a tie between 2 or more players the duels and points among them will be taken into consideration). They will be divided into 2 couples and play in the semi-finals. The first players to reach 3 wins advance to the final. In the final the two finalists play until they get 5 wins.


FACTION and TERRAIN CHOICE

 1) The faction choice will be 100% random and no match-up is to be repeated twice in the same stage (superleague stage or final four stage). This means that 2 players can't have the same match-up against each other in their 5 superleague games or in there games in the final four.

 2) At the start of the game the two players MUST "end turn" so the game autosaves. This helps prevent players from avoiding to play a match-up they don't like. In case of same match-up appearing, the players must just reload until a new match-up is created. Mirror is ok ONLY if both players agree to play it.

 3) As we all know certain terrains give certain bonuses to the factions. The two player CAN'T play on a native terrain (i.e. a terrain that will give a bonus to one of the factions). The creator of the game will choose the first terrain and then they take turns in choosing.


OTHER RULES

 1) Haven CAN'T have more than 25 paladins/ champions. Feel free to train the rest remaining creatures as you like.

 2) Academy CAN'T have more than advanced artificier (no more than 2 mini artifacts on each stack)

 3) Overpowered spells and artifacts are banned by default. WHatever you can use is acceptable and you can use it.

 4) All players must keep the replays of their duels (This is not a rule actualy but it helps to make a replay library)

 5) In case any player quits the tournament ALL his opponents (the ones he played before quitting and the ones that didn't play with him yet) get 2 points for each game = 10 points from him total. In case a player quits after the "superleague" stage then a substitute must be found. I hope though no one quits

 6) In case of disconnection both players must agree in reloading the game. Whoever has ground reasons to believe that his opponent did it on purpose, please contact me.

 7) When a disconnection happens after the start of the combat there are 3 possibilities:

7.1) If the disconnection happens in the first rounds, then the 2 players must reload, have the battle on the same terrain, use the same placement and in general do the exact same movements as before.

7.2) If the disconnection happens in the middle of the combat, then the 2 players should either agree on who was closer to the win or to start from the beginning with a totally new battle (same terrain, placement and moves rules does not apply here)

7.3) If the disconnection happens near the end of the combat the players must either agree on who was closer to the win or if an agreement cannot be reached, myself and Elvin will be the judges for that.

i would like to suggest a rule

the host decides what to play. Personaly i would like to play a random template, which most of the players don't really like and avoid. But i'd play a fixed map. This is the way for all of us to get the different and unique play stiles of all kinds

The other nice way to do it is to have 3-5 maps to choose from.

hm ok. so you want full map games. what about duels though? have you ever tried Elvin's duel map? ANyway your choice to what you want to play!

About your suggestion:
If the host chooses the map, then there will be arguments about who the host will be! So we cuold combine those two things. Each player must play the others TWICE. first time the one chooses the map and in the revenge the other player chooses it. Wha do you think?

i've played the arena map, it's really good, but the trick in Heroes is to have different games - not equal or balanced just different

i've played Genesys/rat race/Hourglass - no problem with me to follow on ToH maps

PS: xlnt are you interested in duels like arena etc? it is faster and more fun!

Timetable:

Tournament starts as soon as 8 or more players are found.
Tournament ends 30 days after it starts.

And other thing i can play only in my weekend and it is not a constant so the games time will be negotiated with my opponent.

Any form/kind of map is ok by me
I will follow any rule - i simply like random maps - nice creeping (because of lvl 1 2 3 4 creeps in one stack) and week 2 action with scouts - i just like it

Can play evenings - 19.30 - 23.30 GMT +2

Yes, i have played arena 1 and arena 2. You get to lvl a hero, get some army and fight - it's like skiping the whole leveling proces and go for the final fight It's well balanced and fast and i like it

Was considering to edit basic units so that the choice of unit is triple, would be quite nuts
