Graphics in Heroes 6

I think is something wrong with graphics in Heroes 6. Then i look at small screen shots all look ok, but if i look at HD screen shots i see some problems ... Creatures looks jagged, no anti-aliasing in game ? On concept arts pictures looks all ok, but real game models looks ugly, not only technical part ... On adventure map creatures, resources look ugly to me. Especially i don't like Cyclops in game model, on concept art cyclops look ok, strong creature, putting fear in enemy. Real in game model look fat, slow, incapable to stay on his feet, he more look like breeding alien queen, he just eat a horse or two and have problems with digestion ?
Take a look at this screen shot, especially at cyclopes, or even more evident - take a look at cyclopes in UBI video about orcs faction Orc faction video, click to watch.

Omg it is stretching the entire page! WE ALL GONNA DIE!

Seriously though, the graphic is a lot better then I have ever imagined. And the models more then live up to their artworks, thinking about the Tormentor for one.
I would be surprised if anti-aliasing isn't in the game, so it is probably just the screenshot.
Only thing I'm afraid of is that the graphic is so good that I can't tell the difference between map objects and random doodads.

I agree with Infinitus wholeheartedly and am glad someone pointed this out. As it stands, the graphics for Heroes 5 is better, but my only guess is that the graphics are set at medium or low in these screenshots.

I highly doubt that. Why would they present us anything that looked less than the best they had to offer in order to make us buy the game?

I do agree, however, that there seems to be some sort of weird effects going around on the creatures on the map. Hopefully they'll get to fix it.

For my taste water look definitely better in Heroes 6, terrain and trees look good also, maybe a little bit more sharp textures. But some graphics aspects i like more in Heroes 5 - heroes, creatures, resources look better on adventure map. Concept art of creatures in Heroes 6 is very nice, but we don't play concept arts, we play real game in the end ... Also i like more how it's look on adventure map Haven town in Heroes 5, but maybe this is only matter of taste.
Anyway we speak about next gen Heroes game, he must be a lot better compared to Heroes 5, at least in graphics.

They're not the best graphics out there ofcourse but we don't expect them to be either, right? As they are, I'm quite happy. Personally, I like them better than H5. Consider that the game is not finished yet.

Why not to expect good graphics ? UBI have lots of games with good graphics, Prince of Persia series for example. Also i was very impressed by Heroes 5 graphics ... It's logical to expect Heroes 6 be even better.

I don't know, I just don't feel like graphics is the main strong point of the game. Partly it's because there's too many things going on in the game and having even better graphics would further slow it down. Isn't this the reason why 3D Town Screens were dropped too?

This level of quality for graphics works for me. I like H5's graphics too, but I think these are an improvement. The water effects at least, are much better than they were in H5... The same could be said for other sections too. They still could be even better, but if it's for the sake of a smoother gameplay, then I don't care that they're not.

Remember how h5 was like, dragging its feet on the ground? This is what they're trying to avoid now.

Considering the game isn't done yet and IMO it already looks better than H5 does, then I'm already satisfied.

I'm sure they will polish it up even more than we're seeing now for the final product.

I thought starcraft 2 looked crappy on some screenshots too, the game itself is so beautiful it hurts.

Agreed, it this case game was better looking compared to screenshots. Big surprise, usually screenshots tend to be better, to lie a little bit

IMHO the graphics look pretty much amazing. But then again, that's coming from a person whose pc can only run quake 3 @ 30fps... Are the system specs known yet, so I can finally buy that laptop?

I'm not crazy about the art style.  I pretty much agree with Infinitus.  However, I don't care so much about the graphics if the game is fun.

GPU or CPU?

Any one know if the game utilises the GPU more than the CPU for graphics? I know that HoMM5 was only utilised a single CPU core which put a lot of burden on the GPU.

We don't know this yet or any other requirement that the game will have. But I bet that since they understand they need to make the game play smoother, they will have it taking advantage of multiple CPU's and not just one this time.

IMHO Heroes VI looks almost the same as Heroes V (when talking about graphics that are seen in the screenshots). Yes, the graphics are better but not new. Still the water is brilliant and I just love it! About the creatures - some look better in the artwork, some not, but it's too early to judge that.

The graphics are "similar", but not the same. The new engine is making fantastic landscapes, but I'm quite disappointed by the creatures and heroes models that look tiny and to be honest very ugly on the adventure map

One thing I don't understand is why they don't activate anti-aliasing for their screenshots.

Maybe because in game things generally are animated, so you don't get o focus on the details in the same way?

As for the overall graphics, I think the scenaries look really stunning. Apart from the odd bugs (like trees flying in the air), I think it looks amazing - I just hope the creatures won't look odd on the map in-game.
