Dragon Age II
I'm guessing this is the 1st and only thread (so far) for dragon age 2.
well, fans of this game probably know updates from the official website and forums...so i wont go into that.
however, i would like to know ur experiences with the demo released on 22nd feb, i'm still downloading it....can't wait for release tho!
everyone's welcome to share views/comments/thoughts on DA2

Demo was disappointing.
Rogue was fun with all the maneuvering capabilities but mage and warrior are boring as hell. Nothing new.

I'm so glad
These latest months I have been super hyped for Heroes 6 so i have "almost" forgotten about Dragon Age 2.
Which is in fact an awesome thing. I remember when they announced DA2, I spend so much time hyping over it and awaiting news and updates for it.
But luckily I manage to stop doing that, so now i don't really know anything that is going to be in the game, no mechanics no quests no nothing.
After all DA is the kind of game where it's for the best if you know nothing.
And personally I don't care for the demo, but that's because I have the game pre-ordered anyways so...

srsly? damn
i saw this half hour video in gamespot where they play a side mission on some slaver rescue op like the ones in DA 1....is that the demo?
still waiting for the demo tho....but i kinda liked the elf from the gamespot video....he seems to be the two handed carnage bringer....the graphics seems a little better but the rest looked pretty DA

Demo was the prologue to the game. We escape lothering (during the blight in DA) and get to a city where we help out Isabelle kill a few bandits. It was very short. But we got to play around with the level ups a bit. Inventory and character customisation was locked.
The interface was slow and annoying to handle, it screams of console gaming.
Skills, as I said, are same old. Nothing new in that department.
Attributes were interesting, now rogue has around 50% defense against normal enemies all the time.
Enemies are level scaling, hated that.
There's new friend/rival meter with all the allies, not sure how it effects the characters.
We get a main with all conversations voiced. Liked that.
That's it in short.

@joonas
u should check this video at gamespot out...u'd get a better idea than me as u have played the demo
Exclusive gamespot video for DA 2
on the friend/rival meter, from what i can understand its a replacement to the approval/disapproval meter that directed the personal relationships/romances/friendship/quests among the party members...its explained in the video.
the rouge can now kinda "auto position" itself for a critical strike, so u dont have to try to maneuver behind a enemy in an all out in your face type melee.
yeah the main character has a voice....i noticed too.
@ jaba
yeah i knw! so hooked up with H6 that DA 2 kinda faded out...thats why i thought of this thread...
lucky dude ur gonna get the bonus stuff with pre-order....i think i myt too
check the official website for updates...also watch the gamespot video...it'l bring u up to speed.

No I don't want to, I want to be oblivious to what's to come.
Actually that was great when I played Origins, I had no idea about the game before I played it so I had no idea which guys that was going to be party members and all that. It was great. Wish more games were like that, unfortunately I can't hold my self from checking for updates.

Yeah, it's a replacement for the approval meter but what are it's real effects, that's still left unexplained.
Rogue doesn't autoposition, he has backstab as an ability and by using it he teleports behind the enemy and strikes. This is useless against most of the normal enemies because they are sent flying forward by this regarding the positioning itself, useless. It is a nice way to teleport around the battlefield even though the range isn't big.
Rogue has surprisingly more crowd control powers than warrior does. He's got stun grenades, evade(an escape power with possibility to stun), rush(charge forward and knowckdown any enemies in the way), etc. etc.
Add to that the fact that cunning score acts as characters defense rating and rogue is the best crowd control class. Mages still bomb them faster and warrior has taunt for drawing enemies in but rogue has highest AI target value and all the crowd control and maneuvering skills combined with high defense makes it the best one for the job. Beware of archers though, they will rape your rogues in no time. If there's archers and you have a rogue in your party, those should be the first priority, they WILL shoot the rogue and the rogue WILL die because his armor is so low and because defense doesn't matter against archers. Mages are surprisingly free of AI targetting and warriors can take the heat due to high armour.
No changes in warrior or mage, same old, same old. Most of the skills/spells seems same too.

hmmm thats odd...mages seemed to b the default target of enemy AI in Origins.
hmmm havent got any info on how the friendship rivalry actually works but in the gamespot video they talked about gifts. Apparently, gifts wont increase the party members approval like before. Gifts are used in DA:2 to initiate special dialogue that may lead to party member quests and narration of events. it wont b like a simple increase in approval for the presenting of a gift like b4. (that'd make romancing a bit tough, eh? )
i wonder why they havent worked on newer skills and abilities.it'd turn out pretty sad if its the same as origins.....but thanks for the heads up.i just hope there's more to look forward to in the main game.

srsly disappointed with the demo...must'v been a version developed pretty early cuz the gamespot video was much better than the demo.
like joonas said its pretty much old stuff. the darkspawn also look wierd...like the old ones better. mage animations have improved.haven't tried the rouge yet.
gonna sit tight and wait for the full release...demo left a bitter taste
anyone else played the demo?

Exactly why I couldn't finish the game. It's the same damn plot over and over again. Oh, and it was also a total snorefest.

Tried better demos . I played it and it froze halfway in.
I got angry
1 day later completed the demo and thought, Bioware love big breasts all have enourmous boobs!
oh well, the combat was what they showed us. It works, nice new moves that in the long run feels to much. All that turning and spinning
Haven't tried rogue though.
The story seems to be cool, interresting and the way they tell it better than DA
It is going to be good, but not the game of year, I think

But DA2, I'm pretty sure it will suck, dunno why.
