I was around 8 years old when I first played it. I had a lot of fun playing it with my classmate even though I did not understand it very well and lost all the time.  And by the way correction to the thread name: "How old *were* you..."

Hmm,I started playing homm3 when it was released in like, 1997? think it was first year of high school.
Homm2 nooo idea, a couple of years before that, not too long though.

I started playing homm3 when i was 4 years old and become master of heroes when i was 6 year old. I knew every monster name then and i know it still.

When I started to play HoMM??
Think I first heard about HoMM3, and after that I heard about the M&M games.
But in the start I wasn't that interested in the game, and didn't like it that very much. But after some time, I have started to like it more and more. And now I just love it! :3

I played King's Bounty on sega at age of 7 or so. Years laterm next game i encountered was Heroes 3, and I mostly liked it because it was "similar to that old game i used to play on sega as a kid but couldn't remember it's name".

I was epeleptic as a child, so I was on plenty of meds back then. This is propably the reason my childhood memories seem to be extraordinary blurry. I do remember getting the Heroes III complete box when that was rather new and me and my brothers had been playing it for quite some time then. I was born 1992 so at least since I was seven or so, but I really can't say. Also, I have been told, by aforementioned brothers, that I was able to play HoMM on my own before I could even read, so it might've been quite a bit earlier.

I first played the HOMM2 demo soon after the game came out in 1997, so I was 54 - and I'm still playing H2 and H3 regularly.
