The original discussion can be found at DF2 forum.
It's strange that here still hasn't been a single mention of this work.
I don't get it. Naga tank is a ranged atacker. Look at the concept art. Guns instead of tesla coils in her hands.
We know how some of Forge town units look so why make something different? The goblins in alfa version were WTF. No horns on the helmet, no antenas on backpack and upgraded version doesn't have blaster rifle. Zombies look nothing like the original.
Lv 3 http://heroes3towns.com/?town=forge_3&page=units PERFECT looking pyros
Lv 4 we only know how an upgraded version looks http://www.heroesofmightandmagic.com/heroes3ab/abpx/stinger.jpg
Lv 5 minotaur with jet pack and razor claws (no concept art so use imagination, but alfa version was ok)
Lv 6 non upgraded version http://www.heroesofmightandmagic.com/heroes3ab/abpx/tank.jpg i guess upgraded would have 6 arms with blasters or simple pistols like in concept art.
Lv 7 Big, Strong, Overwhelming, Pure Mechanical, Intimidating strongest Lv 7 creature in game. No concept art no nothing. This is where i don't mind how he looks.

Damn, now this archive will be considered as "alfa" =(

Concepts != final materials. Especially for Forge.

Because we want.

Therefore your final version will be considered as "the huge improvement". ^^
BTW - how the Sweetwater would a big tank naga with two small submachine guns be a ranged unit like elves with big bows or magis? On the other hand - why would it be a melee unit when it has some guns? Neither of these makes much sense, therefore SMG in H3 sucks - they should be changed. Axolotl's concept (is it his idea?) is very good, let it be.
...actually I don't care, I don't like tanks either this or that way.

I believe that, despite the weapons, the Naga Tanks were meant to be melee units. SMGs are low tech weapons in comparison to the others turned out by the Forge, so having them on an elite unit seems a bit silly (the concept art also incorrectly portrays the Naga Tank with four arms). My suggestion is to give them six arms (as the other Naga have) and then arm them with Blaster pistols. They could then be given a Hydra-like six hex attack.

Maybe if it was in AB, but not as 10th (11th?) town. We have hydras, we have magic elementals - I'd like to see something more original than that.

Just as some abilities, like no retaliation or dual strike are shared by several creatures, we'd inevitably be stuck with other shared abilities as well - like six hex attack, for example. Also, Pyros/Pyromaniacs are likely candidates for flame breath and Stingers/Bruisers for explosive projectiles (like Magogs).
There is room for new abilities; for example, the machines like Cyborgs, Tanks and Juggernauts could be given a trait that makes them immune to certain spells. However, old abilities should also be implemented when possible, to shore up consistency of Forge units with those of other factions, so that they would still fit the "style" of HoM&M 3.

Sorry, but it's sounds like trolling. In any case, the arraignment to a mismatch of small details, other weapons, and so forth sounds at least strangely.
Design of creatures in the game does not have to repeat the concept art, especially early (for example, a dwarf on the RoE concept art was armed with a smallsword).
Cyberzombies, for information, have several variants on the concept-art.
Stinger on the concept art had a rubber duck for a bath (developers were joking with each other) — it is also needs to be repeated in the game?
SMG — a close range weapon.
And so on.

Yes design of creatures in the game does not have to repeat the concept art, but concept art is the only thing that shows how units might look like. Yeah cyberzombies have several variants, but we have an official screen how they should look like. Stinger is on a map selection screen so thats the final look too. Why i want naga to be ranged? simple logic. She is naked = no armor. What kind of hand to hand unit is that? Tower town nagas dont have armor, but try to get near those with six long swords. Sword is longer so its easier to reach and defend against arrows. So i say go with naga who has blasters cuz SMG is too primitive for Forge. Remember MM7 evil ending. They make infinite copies of blasters with Forge so why not give it to naga. Second thing is why its a tank? To ignore terrain difficulties like Nomads. They are sand walkers. So that could be one of her abilities.

That's why we have other concept arts - made by fans.

Same with Heroes 3 map screen.

Sword vs Arrow? I've heard about it before...
I don't really think that whole nagas' armies could be such sword experts.

Many snakes are sand walkers too, and while naga has snake's bottom, your argument is invalid. These tanks are rather for better defense and higher speed.

The coloured Stinger concept art seen at 4:19 of this [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asgFsfvU8cM ] tribute was meant to be the background for the map selection screen in AB, just like the pictures of Gem and Gelu, or Yog and Crag Hack were backgrounds for the map selection screens in SoD.

Yeah, I agree at this one . The mere fact that something was made by 3DO team doesn't mean it's official, most likely a scraps of rushed and unfinished work.
A long time has passed since Shadow of Death, we're wiser now, have a lot of experience and endless discussion behind. Now we can just make better Forge than old one and I wish the team best luck on this

Ahh, Agar's work. His arts are always so cool.
But I'm afraid that HotA Crew won't make nagas look like tanks, but more like mechanical spiders... especially if they changed their position from lvl 6 to 7.

well, I'm totally unsure if Nagatanks will make their way in the final line-up at all.
We still have 7th tier being undecided. Tank has some great minuses.
And more - it's leaked concept (not even approved as final) was a last drop in vial of rage that spilled into whole NWC threat-mailing mess.
if we give a unit an armor then it's "logical", but step out of original idea (nakked lady on tank base). And with this we got just another variant of Cyborg unit (with tracks for feet), so both 3rd and 7th tiers weill be cyborgs and that's kinda boring. Especially since city lacks pure mechanical unit.
I addition, putting tank on 7th tier means that we will end up like H5 Fortress. 6 humanoids and 1 beast. (bear rider = tank). 2 non-human units are better for H3.
So basically 7 tier creature must be:
1) pure mechanical
2) not anthropomorfic
3) not a dragon (it looks like everybody is fed-up with dragons in H3 except me. More dragon types, yay!)
We'll figure this out later. Now the work on forge is suspended because of more important tasks that should be done for 1.2 release.

But you're only talking about the Tank not fittng the 7th tier, and thus say you're unsure if it will make its way into the final lineup at all. The Juggernauts/Dreadnoughts were meant to be level 7 units, and, like you said, they are purely mechanical. So, what does this have to do with the Tanks? They're level 6 and only two units - them and Cyber Dead/Zombies - would be Cyborgs, the rest (levels 1, 3, 4 and 5) would simply have advanced weapons.
Also, I really don't understand the eternal frustration with the Naga Tanks being naked. The H3 Medusae were also naked and no one complained. Not to mention the hipocrisy... no one minds hundreds of creatures being slaughtered or inocent peasants being killed and then brought back as walking skeletons, but seeing bare breasts is too much to take? Really?

They're not. HotA Crew decided to have line up something like this:
1.Pyros
2.Goblins
3.Cyborgs
4.Ogres
5.something (I'm not sure if it has been revealed or not)
6.Minotaurs
7."Tanks" (or whatever it will be)
Quote: The H3 Medusae were also naked
They weren't. They had some kind of "bra".
