Deus Ex: Human Revolution

I think it deserves its own topic.

Post the opinions here ^^

It should be named Awesomelizer.

Cuz it's awesome.

Gotta say this game probably has the best interactive dialogues I've ever experienced... the arguments are really intense and never feel the same... which is quite weird really since the same response should trigger the same reaction... but that is not always the case. Ya gotta adapt.

The main complaint I heard are:

-game time (20 hours as the developer claims)
-the game is too easy (no real challenge)

how do you feel bout those?

I'm 35 hours in on my first playthrough so I dunno about that gamelength haha... might be because I like replaying missions 'til I nail things perfectly... I've had constant fun during those 35 hours

It's pretty easy but still satisfying as hell. You feel like if you didn't have all those AWESOME augmentations it would be hard as ****ing hell to infiltrate that high security building, they really nail the feeling of being a badass cyborg agent.

Balance-wise I feel like they could've toned down the invisiblity aug a bit. At the start you have like 3 seconds of invisibility which makes it a risky but nonetheless very valuable tool. After upgrading it I have 7 seconds which basically let me ignore every security system in the game haha... you can even walk through security lasers...

Darksy is right about shooting being too effective. Sure you can sneak around and hack and ****, but the straight-forward pop-a-cap-in-yo-ass approach has no real drawbacks... 'cept for losing a bit of experience I guess.

Still... I wouldn't dream of not sneaking in this game, it's just way too much fun. I'm gonna avoid the invisibility aug in my next playthrough to make it more intereesting.

I followed the development and was a bit underwhelmed by the first gameplay trailer, but the design diaries were very impressive. Playing the game dispels any worries. It's truly an incredible game, the sequel Deus Ex 1 deserved from the outset. Revolution is right I'd really love to see what Eidos Montreal and Mary DeMarle might do with Legacy of Kain if Square Enix ever finally choose to grow a brain and revive it.

I just wanna ask smt about this game time. Who calculates those with which method? Cause it is always so much lesser than my gameplay time.

Oh, is it out? Maybe I'll give it a try, first part was incredible and so was 30-minute gameplay shown recently.

the testers are probably testing 10 games a day so they rush them like mad. without counting they must have some crazy skills. well not like top players of course, but they play so much games, that they can adapt immediately to any new game.

It's pretty cool so far. my main complaint is that the font is too small, it's hard to read, and when a text pops on the screen, sometimes I miss it. for example I didn't realized that I had picked codes on guards until I opened my registry.

also, contrary to the 1st deux ex, most objects can't be moved it seems. not like it brought much to the 1st one though. and the fact the environment are much more loaded with objects make copy-pastes more obvious than in the 1st game (!!!)

There should be way more end-of-level-bonuses imo.

The only ones I've encountered are the Smooth Operator and Ghost bonuses, and both of those are about stealth.

How 'bout...

Machine Friend
Only kill with hacked robots and turrets during a mission.

Total Blackout
Disable all enemy security systems during a mission.

Zero Mercy
Leave none alive.

Come at me Bro
Trigger all alarms.

Stuff like that... promote different playstyles.

who feels it is harder than the 1st deus ex? I'm in normal mode and sometimes I get killed before I even know what's happening. even in realist mode you didn't die so fast in the 1st deus ex

maybe my weapons aren't big enough for when I get spotted.

once I also got shot when I was on a computer, could do nothing. and not because I hadn't been cautious enough. it was a script, the guy was programmed to come in when I was on his computer

Actually DX1 was really really easy... some augs (Ballistic protection, Fast movement and Regeneration in particular) were just too good, and dragontooth sword was a bit lol. You could destroy cameras&turrets with it in one hit, kill commandos with a single backstab... Fortunately there's the shifter mod that improves the AI of enemies.

yes I agree, you only had to be cautious in the 1st missions (hardest was maybe the airport one, with all those bots. though the ocean lab could be a bit annoying too, because it was different)

with regeneration you were near unkillable. though on the PS2 version (the one I played) the dragon tooth sword was overnerfed (15 damage max, quite disappointing, it could definitely not replace a PEG like on the PC verstion) and also while it was possible to pick both ballistic protection and regeneration, they were offered by the exact same augmentation prism, which made it a bit more complicated. personnally, I thought regeneration was better.

fast speed was awesome, but not sure if it was a game breaker. though, on PS2 you could crouch and move faster than your opponents without making noises, which made run silent useless.

personnally felt like the spydrone was one of the best augs (though, I read someone who thought it is the worse) because you could just waste every bots and turrets and cameras without ever getting exposed.

another weird thing is that some skills / augs were redundant. best example being swimming. you could either increase the swimming skills, or the swimming aug, or even use respirators and the skill to improve various suits. and it's not even like swimming was one of the most crucial perks.

hacking was the best skill. you could own the game with only one level in hacking.

it's a bit weird, I'm still at the beginning (in detroit) but judging by the conversations, the various documents I can find, it seems the whole world revolves only around augmentations. the subjects seemed more varied and random in the 1st one.
