Hey xuxo, have you heard of Topaz Gigapixel AI and the fantastic results it produces in upscaling textures using an AI powered by a neural network? You can run it against any image, be it a texture used in a 3D game, the individual frames of a video, or simply a sprite.

It has a (((FREE TRIAL))), you know whatcham talkin bout *winks in a roguish sort of way*

Besides Topaz Gigapixel, other methods exist, but they are less efficient, have a much harder learning curve, and require monster hardware.

Bottom line, you could easily bump up the vanilla HoMM5 creature textures to 4x of their original size with a shocking increase in quality (i.e. 2x the height & width of each texture, which is 4x surface-wise).

Well, I use photozoom pro, which is full of quality for the textures recollection that the game uses. I am not interested in increasing the resolution, I am interested in modifying the texture itself, and mostly replacing the entire model if I see it necessary. there are textures that I have modified but I have not increased the resolution, the heroes V engine needs small textures, I usually never exceed 1024x1024, except in the terrain. thanks also for the information!

Photozoom doesn't rely on neural networking and adaptive AI... you won't understand until you try both. AI-based solutions kinda make up the missing detail instead of just processing the bare input with a fixed logic.

Creature textures definitely could use an AI-powered upscale, I might be mistaken but a lot of them are 512x512? A lot of older games look much better after that, you might want googling for baldurs gate ai-upscaled samples of location backgrounds...

Creatures does need improved textures. They are looking very low res.

I always found it hard to explain with words the difference between neural network powered upscaling (which adds made-up, as if by a human artist's guess, detail) and regular upscaling which merely processes existing data.

But when you try it yourself you'll go WOOOW.

For 1080p a 2x upscale would make a world of difference. For 4K a 4x upscale would definitely improve things over 2x but could clog the game's rendering pipeline that's overly reliant on the CPU and can't really take advantage of modern GPUs.

the water mill at the end cost to add because I could not modify the animations, but now I know. I'm creating my own animation for wheels and spinning elements, to add them as a modelinstance. easier to modify. For the next version there will be both new mills.

I like the Heroes VI units for Heroes VI. I consider Heroes V a 50% cartoon game, there is no point importing them for me.

Thats a shame since I am not a fan of the cartoon creatures. heroes 6 has the best looking creatures of the bunch. Well in that case I hope the art for the H5 creatures get better resolution at least.
