This is all nonsense anyway. The greatest game of all time is warlord's battlecry and no game is ever going to match its sheer epicness. The reason people grade this stuff by "game of the year" nowadays is because of that game. they can't call it "best game so far", since all hope in game progression was lost when they created the very first warlord's battlecry and the series itself was crushed by its own weight of its sheer epicness that when they made warlod's battlecry 2, they accidentally released warlord's battlecry 1 with slightly better graphics and a new unit for each faction.
In desperation warlord's battlecry 3 was something mmo-ish, but to no avail. people will forever play the best game of all time, warlord's battlecry.
Seriously, even the cover remains undefeated by its sheer epicness.
People who play warlord's battlecry are unaware of gaming's progression as a medium and still play this game, because why would you try any other game than warlord's battlecry?
You need an entire life time to get even close to the incredibly difficult campaign, one mission somewhere halfway that campaign will ask for you to cross a map filled to the brim with insta-gib monsters with one unit. And that was an easy one!

There's like a dozen races all of them different, unlike aoe's bajillion civilisations that only differ in technological limitation and you have a hero that levels and a campaign with a moral choice at the middle that determines a good or bad end (makes the campaign branch into two entirely different paths) and there's like 40 missions or so I think and a highly customisable skirmish mode and magic, like ten schools, and undead and minotaurs, dark elves, orcs, humans, barbarians, normal elves and dwarves and I think I forget one or two races.
This game, man. Many have tried to copy it and all have failed so hard at it.

DG you forgot High Elves or Wood Elves
Also for all the progress that has been made in gaming, I still have to hand it to Warlords battlecry games for having the AI be surprisingly creative.

I believe I played Warlords AGES ago (we're speaking like... 9 years or so here), and I remember liking it
Nothing will ever dethrone Baldur's Gate/Civilization/HoMM as my favorite game franchises though.

The might and magic franchise is peerless imo, with all their flaws, for one simple reason, I've played their games since my first computer, with my brothers.

Actually it's the only successful RTS/RPG hybrid in my opinion. And a member of that group of games which will never get the fame that they deserve.

Unless you do it like me and make a super powerful demon death-knight with two summoner minions and just steamroll through each and every map without waiting for the enemy to build anything. beat the campaign on highest difficulty setting in two days. Finished every map within 1-5 mins, except those that were about waiting 20 mins or oversized kill-them-all with the ai building everywhere faster than I could destroy their towns.

I'm going with Saints Row : Third
Just because beating people to Death with a Giant pink Dildo and Trolling Dressed up as a Toilet is hella fun Especially with fully integrated co-op. and if that is not enough over the top missions and the arcade style whoared mode are bound to be a contest winner
Would have possibly voted AC : Revelations but hafn't played that one yet

We're talking about wbc 1, right? How do you make a demon death-knight? Demon wasn't even a race until the 2nd one. How do you make a deathknight?
What's summoner minions? Those guys that MIGHT summon creatures, but don't count on it much?

I was talking about wbc1, where the campaign told a story and set up challenges, rather than being some risk-type rts. I could beat wbc2 campaign, too, but wbc1 is something I remember to be hella hard. Granted, I suck at rts'es, but the wbc 1 campaign gave you things that hurt.

I love how nobody has even mentioned H6 despite that this is Heroescommunity lol.
I'll play SWTOR and then decide if I like it better than Skyrim (which I grew bored off after 2 weeks)

I think it's not that they don't like H6 it's more ubisoft that noone likes. And some people just dont want to spend around 50 Euro for a game in beta phase.
Atleast that's how I'm feeling.
