Hi gílgalad
Im dont think im quite agree with you..
I dont want to explain about hit and run but my point of view is...

If you play an opponent you know as honorable, you played him before, and you know if you play him you will have "quality" game, Then i would never think of making rules.

But do i play a opponent i have never know, i would talk about rules with him first. What rules he prefer and if he says none, i say no hit and run

You see after the game, if i play a opponent i havent played before, and he wins cause of a strategy i think its not honorable, that will put me in bad situation. I would have lost 5-6 hours of a game, seing it been ruined by hit and run. I would have to go report loss, and as last i can say that ... "Man, why did i ever play that dude"
My advice would be "take precautions and play the ones you know and trust". you will have fun and you will have a quality game, which contains that nomatter if you win or loose you had the fun and that makes you both a "winner"

you know whats fun......

Hit and Running a KNOWN hit and runner and then watch him/her complain about u hitting and running Whats even better is hit and running to an experienced player and then getting a compliment from them like oops should of saw that coming nice job.

btw i gotta say vazelin took a hitting and running like a man

Again i state whatever all rules no rules who cares and just enjoy the game.

(H&R is a very competitive strategy)

Hit & Run....No Way!!!

I have to say that some ppl have way too many rules saying no this and that and everything else....till it makes for the most boring of games.

But I have only one rule in my games and yes its No Hit and Run...cos there is nothing worse in my opinion...

LOL Queenie!

I know that you think that there's nothing worse than hit and run, but I bet there's nothing better than BEATING it!

Beating a hit and runner for me would be like killing a ToH General. One of my finer moments... ahhh.

LOL

Hehee, I would have to disagree there Deth

Its quite a better feeling to beat a H&R without schackles, like waiting for him in ur second town, with upgraded portal of glory, without buying the archies.
When hes one move away, u buy out ur archies, and with ur mass haste u kill off his poor single blackie
See that is pure pleasure.
Btw, I gotta agree with Mad, that no rules give alot of options for some great plays. And if ur both into it, and know when to give a compliment, thats just great.
A little confession I do gotta make. Ive never used H&R my whole TOH-career, prolly coz Im wayy to stupid to do it right.

Rules

If you think about it. If this rule is passed, then the next one and the next. Pretty soon people will be complaining that Archangels are too fast and Anchient Behemoths have too many hit points. It's like monopoly. People agree before the game whether or not you collect money when landing on Free Parking and any other rules they want for that game. These rules must be obeyed. Before every game in TOH. Any rules you make. Why don't they E-mail something saying that I agree to not use HIT & RUN. That way if people do dispute this nonsense. It will at least save some time for the volunteers.

H&R is Retarded!

it may well be part of the game blah blah blah..

but face it ... H&R just sucks !! I play this game for fun (and for the occasional toh point) and I don't think its too much fun if I get attacked and lose half a stack of powerful critters without so much as a chance to retailite.

you wanna hit and run me... go ahead.. but have the decency to wait, with that arch angel and let me do a little damage too

This is not the tactic of a good player.. sure it may win you a game. But who cares. 3-6 hours for that.. BLAH...

I had THE worst H&R experience I think could be done about my 4th online game and I didn't know wjat H&R was but I sure knew it sucked.

I was 2 steps short from opponents castle (you se were this is going) on DW.  his main.. Andra- came out of castle at stronghold army 7 times with 300 odd sp and a 5 power.  well he hit me 7 times each time with 1 sultan and each time a new armageddon!
(What would you do for a pair of shackles here lol)

Kinda extreme sure lol but hapened and it sucked!

The thing that really sucks is when you like me.. and "ASSUME" that no H&R is an unwritten rule. And low and behold your opponent does not think so

ummm can we reload auto.. I guess I should have implo'd you!!!

Something I did that's not much different

I played a game with Redstorment last season on what was Red's very first random map for ToH.

We went all random for towns, heroes, and starting bonus.  If I remember correctly, we played at 160% difficulty.  Red drew a Necropolis and I got a Tower.  I was in a very resource poor area and the exits were fairly well guarded.  It took me until week 2 to get out and really start exploring and resource gathering.

I think it was late week 2 or early week 3 before I got Giants.  Later I was able to upgrade them and take a few Pandora's boxes and Utopias.  Generally, though, for the first month my turns were lasting 4 or 5 minutes and Red's were taking around 10--sometimes more.  He had a killer lead on me and I was expecting him to pop up with his legion of skellies and wipe me out at any time.

To make a long story somewhat shorter, during my travels I happened to get Town Portal and Armageddon.  I also got my hands on a Orb of Fire.

Red eventually popped through a portal near a Dungeon I had taken.  If memory serves me, the guild inside the town had either Town Portal or Armageddon.  I'm not sure which, but I do remember thinking that there was no way in hell I could afford to let him take that town.

I Town Portalled back to it and waited on him.  Sure enough, he gets there 2 turns later and his army was absofreakinlutely HUGE.  He had over 2000 skellies.....

He attacked me inside my town, and I was thankful that I had time to get a castle built in it.  My first move was to use my Master Genies to cast a spell on my Titans.  My next move was to cast Exp Anti-Magic on them with my hero.  (See where this is going?)

Round 2 came and I started nuking him.  He couldn't dispel the Anti-Magic on my Titans, so over the course of the battle I managed to take an army less than 1/4 the size of the one he had and rip his to pieces.

He took it in very good stride, and even congratulated me on my win and thanked me for the game.

I've looked back on that game many times since then and I'm ashamed every time I think of it.  Red played on a much higher level than I did.  He outplayed me in every aspect of the game.  And he lost.

To a cheap spell and a cheap tactic.  He couldn't even surrender--I had shackles on.

I didn't even meet him outside the castle so there was no way he could get to my troops fast enough to stop what I was doing.  His 2000+ skellies lasted all of 6 rounds and were never once attacked by any of my troops other than my Titans.  I started that combat with 11 Titans and ended it with around 8 or 9.  His Ghost Drags and Vamp lords never even made it across the battlefield.

We had over 6 hours invested in that game.

I didn't win that game........I STOLE a rightful victory from him and used an indefensible tactic to do it.

I'll never do something that cowardly again in a battle.  I would rather take a loss than tp use H/R or take advantage of an unbalanced situation like I did in that game.

I don't know why, but at the time I never even realized how despicable the end of that game was.  Since then, I have.......many times.

Restorment--Here's to you!!  That game was yours.  Please accept my apologies for the way it ended.  In my mind, it was no better than using Hit and Run.

In my honest opinion, LichKing, I don't find that as hit / run ... nor do I find it as a dishonorable means to win.

it's just armageddon ... and a LOT of it.

the only reason I don't find it cheap is because that same tactic has been used ever since HOMM1 (and HOMM2).

Implosion would have been almost as bad.

The WORST, is when they're in your castle that they recently captured, implode your catapult (so only 1 or 2 groups may do ANYTHING) ... then keep chain lightning your guys and resurrecting theirs.

- As a general rule, I never use hit-run unless I know my opponent will too.
- I also REFUSE to exercise a first day rush.
- I play more for fun than for the win ... therefore I always strive to play fair and not cheap.

Wow Guys, hold ur horses, at least u Lichking

I mean if it was dishonorable what u did, well u cant win any game at all. U took what u had and made the most of it. If Im not mistaking Ghosts have better speed than Titans, so Red did have first move.
And chainlightning and ressurection, arma and implo, well they are all part of the game.
To not allow to use them would be the same thing as saying that only might heroes are allowed to win in a TOH match honorable.
I just played Amazon_King on Invader, clan game. I picked Adela for my castle troops, and by some odd twist of luck, Amazon had Cyra leading his tower troops. I had a 2 castle thingy going, so when we finally meat I had 14 archies vs his 8 Titans, the rest of our army was about equal. Didnt have money to buy out my 24 champions, lol.
Well I had something like 39 in attack and 34 defence, while he had measly 23 19. But on power knowledge it was the other way around.
Well to make a long story short, I hasted my army, and when he finally got his turn, he had allmost no army left. Combat was over in 2 rounds, he even had implo.
Was that dishonorable of me?? Well we had 6 hours invested in the game, and for it to end so abrupt I had a little bad feeling in the mouth. But did I hear any complaining from Amazon. Offcourse not, just *gg*. Is that the same Lichking did, yeah sure it is. Just with might instead of magic.
Also tried to be blinded and killed off, took my opponent one whole hour to kill all my stacks, did I find that unreasonable. Hell No. I had inferno (The spell), and looking back on the game I had plenty oppotunities to stop him from blinding me. right up till the end I could have woken up 4 stacks on one inferno, and then killed him off.
Im just saying u can go to far in the whole thing about honor. If u outlaw most strategies in the name of honor, it would be hard learning something new in the game, and thats why I still find it so damn addictive

I completely agree with Defreni...

all I can say is congratulations Lichking on finding a way to beat an opponent who was clearly ahead in the game. ANd of course you have to use more unconventional tactics to do, i see nothing wrong with that.

I guess sometimes you don't feel so honorable afterwards
(i have done the blind thing once before, to take out an army twice my size led by a hero with twice the stats) and my opponent did complain, but i figured i had it done to me, (by a good friend i might add ) and i must say i told myself that i will not let anyone trap me with one unit left to be blinded if i can prevent that. Same goes for stopping 2 tiles from opponents town, thats just asking for it, if you didn't agree on no H&R . For me it's just a part of learning experience.
