don't download it now, it's not worth the newspaper i line the cages of my captives with(relatively speaking, anyway). wait till the better version comes out.

and because the new version won't be compatible with the old(the version you can currently dl), of course.

slowly but steadily coming along on the patch. after working on the HotA trees, i have to go back and fix the 37 other tropical trees i did(plus the clusters), to bring them up to speed with the quality of the newest tree work.

once i'm done with them, i can go back to continuing work on the patch update. i'm still weeding through the extracted .lod for the objects that i have messed with, and worth sorting to upload. the other stuff will come later.

That sand castle is looking good, what happens when it rains though? Does it work like dragon utopias or is it just decoration?
Can I download your patch now and add it to HotA or are they not compatible?

for now, the sand castle works as a dragon utopia(although it's not in the patch that is currently available); but once i learn scripting(or find someone willing to script my stuff properly), it's attributes will be changed. i have a lot to script. scripting'll come another day(most likely year, with my current workload).

as for HotA, i think they should work together? you could try and see with the currently available patch in this thread, then report back with the results. so far, that question hasn't been brought up. that i remember, anyway.

They can't work together. WoG based graphical mods can't work with HoTA, especially when their lod is renewed every time they do an update. Then their objects files txt are different.

The utopia looks great. What about making a special patch with objects retexturized for all terrains only?

So you keep the type/subtype and only change texture, so they can be used for design map. For example, library of enlightenment has snow version, but university not. Or utopia, or arena, or many others.

Just an idea.

4 posts back I write that there is no way to make them compatible right now and specified why. Yet you ask again because "you don't want to use era". This is like saying "I want to use a car as a plane because I don't want to use a car". Simply retarded.

i have been making objects specifically for certain terrains ever since i started modding, just not too many variances of pre-existing objects. i have different dragon utopia's made for different terrains already, and i have been expanding on other objects(more with overgrown swamp stuff, though). i've just been preoccupied with other things, which is why this one particular idea hasn't seen complete fruition. i'm always expanding what's available, though. just not script-wise.

i could post all my currently typed-out plans(i have more that aren't typed out, but are just raw graphics/pics categorized in folders); maybe some other people could take up some of the slack for me. like the HotA team did with the HoMM2 sand dunes(not intentionally, but hey, i'll take what i can get). what i want to do is really a lot, for just one guy.

for instance, i have 7 individual trees still left to fix, of my own tropical beach/swamp trees, before i can even fix the clusters. and i started that as soon as i was done working on the trees for the HotA team. it's hard to stay on task and streamlined, when there's so much i can work on. and on top of all that, i have the patch to update. even with all the free time i have, it's a huge workload.


but i know you're a workhorse as well sal, so i'm preaching to the choir here.

finished all of the tropical trees, and started tweaking/adding some new artifacts. i also did some work on my artifact list(writing out what each artifact does), as well as continuing ongoing work on the patch update(updating everything as i go).

my current artifact/resource list and their attributes:
1. aztec sacrificial blade: sacrifice creatures whenever/wherever you want.
2. gold death's head mask: increases quality of sacrificed creatures.
3. aztec gold blood chalice: gives vampires/lords better vampiric ability.
4. aztec vase: gold+gems.
5. jade mask: ?
6. jade pitcher: can fill with water from magic well, so provides 1 more fill.
7. luck artifacts:
   a. rabbit's hat: ?
   b. leprechaun's hat: ?
   c. gold 4-leaf clover: +2 luck.
   d. leprechaun's pot of gold: gold + luck.
   e. golden horseshoe: gold + luck.
   f. 4 aces: +1 luck for the week when hero visits tavern(available once a week).
8. morale artifacts:
   a. sombrero: morale + mirth spell availability.
   b. presents: morale + random artifact(once a month).
   c. rubber ducky: morale + increased water movement.
   d. rubber chicken: increases mirth spell traits.
   e. pinata: morale + random resources(once a month).
9. gold elephant: ?
10. gold incan jaguar: ?
11. gold pitcher: ?
12. gold chalice: + chance of bless.
13. gold "indy" idol: ?
14. gold buddha: ?
15. gold god statue:
16. gold scarab: +4 mummy speed.
17. sarcophagus: summon mummies.
18. scythe of osiris: mummies get vampiric ability.
19. nefertiti's cat: +1 luck for mummies.
20. anubis mask: "animate dead", works on mummies, but animates entire stack(twice each battle).
21. african death mask: doubles death blow strength.
22. black orb: hero(has to be evil) has "view earth".

24. treasure map: works like "view earth", but only reveals treasure.
25. dead sea scroll: gain experience daily, but only works on ocean.
26. pirate flag: increases moral for pirates, decreases moral for castle.
27. cursed pieces of 8: increases gold daily, but lowers moral(only works for pirates).

51. quicksand stone: enemies are slowed on sand terrain, and when fighting, quicksand appears.

61. gold shark tooth: find more gold when adventuring.
62. silver shark tooth: find more silver when adventuring.
63. megalodon tooth: creatures with more experience in battle, gain moral while at sea.
64. tiger shark tooth: increases damage for creatures +2.
65. generic shark tooth: increases damage for creatures +1.
66. absinthe: gain experience while in possession (works like gods, except if removed, benefits last for 1 week, instead of going away.)
67. psilocybin mushrooms: works like absinthe, but with increased experience/benefits last 1 month.
68. peyote: works like shrooms, but with increased experience/benefits lasting 2 months.
69. faceless mask: disguises hero and stats.
70. mask of deceit: disguises creatures in army.
71. mask of shadow: disguises creatures number strength.

73. gold zombie pendant: power over zombies, regardless of faction.

75. beer: +1 morale, -1 knowledge.

79. holy water: -morale for inferno.
80. hammer and wooden stake: more damage to vampires/vampire lords.
81. magic cauldron: increases all spell effects for holding hero.
82. music box: cures any negative spell effects, each battle turn.
83. wizard's anvil: craft new artifacts from old.
84. witch's hat: increased spell damage against tower faction(only for evil factions).
85. golden harp: summon angels in battle(castle only).
86. bone flute: summon skeletons in battle(necromancer only).
87. wizard hat: summon hobbits(lol).
88. gold crown: +1 leadership.
89. jeweled bracelet: silver+gems.
90. jeweled necklace: silver+gems.
91. spider venom sac: gives all troops poison ability(with chance to paralyze that increases each turn), and immunity to spider venom.
92. scorpion venom sac: same as spider venom sac, only for scorpions.
93. basilisk eye: same for basilisks(stone gaze).
94. azure dragon eye: same for azure dragons(fear).
95. devil's eye: -morale for angels, + chance of fear(increases as battle progresses).
96. skeleton's hand of death: increases "death ripple" damage significantly.
97. wax seals: possessing wax seal creates an alliance with that color. remove the artifact to remove the effect.
98. multi-hued pixie gem: significantly increases pixie stats.


and i'm constantly adding new artifact graphics and making plans for them(sorry, lw). i really have my scripting work cut out for me(this doesn't even include the new objects/terrain patches i want to script).



...which leads me to a question: is it possible to make a consumable resource that acts like an artifact(only for a specified time)?

did you got emerald to work? I didn't succeed, did all the steps, but for some reason the artifacts weren't added, couldn't add them to map editor, couldn't set them from by additional commands, the game crashed if I tried to add a new artifact to the hero via scripts. How did you do that? Would you be so kind to show me? Thanks in advance

oh man, sorry i raised your hopes(not my intention at all). this is only a list of my plans for artifacts/resources. none of this has been implemented yet.

are these plans all for naught? i had thought that modders were adding artifacts... are they only able to replace them? forgive me if this has already been answered, i have a lot on my mind.

As far as I can tell, HotA added new ones, they didn't replace any existing ones. Perhaps someone on their team can tell you how they did it.

on a patch-related note, i just finished sorting through my lod and getting all my stuff seperated and organized. 4,424 defs(most likely less, as i want to fix what isn't done) in all. that excludes what i thought wasn't fit for release(some of my old stuff; stuff from other games that doesn't really match HoMM3, etc).
