Nah nah. You go to garage, the guy says: I have this car in two options, for same price: 1) with radio and air conditioned, you turn on the buttons, they work, when don't need, leave off, then 2) without radio and air conditioned. Then you say: No, 1) is too fancy, I prefer 2).

Or you buy a porsche and each "additional" feature is actually a disabled one so the top of the line doesn't have AC, Radio, Heated Seats, Electric Windows, Electric Mirrors, ABS, ESP, etc.
All a matter of perspective and what's really important ^^
Some people like fast cars, other people like slow cars. Both will get you where to need to be, it's just a matter of preference.

All games need mods, but not all have the capacity of being modded. The thing is that companies sell games in "passive state", which means you have to wait for dialogs, musics, end of animations, you can't speed-in parts which you already played hundred times, and so on.
This is where mods do their job. Some enhance game-play with extended or new options, other enhance game play by removing the repetitive.
I can't imagine playing a XL H3 map without being capable of renaming towns (try to TP to only castles when vanilla names and have 30 towns!), display the correct values of hero stats, display the movement range, display the number of creatures available in that map dwelling, remove stupid plague, remove buggy creature spawn and so on.
This is where WoG is doing its job. Hence the car example.

Oh god the pain of all that town portalling, I remember that. But it was so fricking OP spell. TP through all town on day one to gather troops...GAH!
If that's what you're after, extra features are definitely not the right comparison, although wog is a lot more to do with extra features than speeding up the game.

Some features in Heroes III Wake of Gods are like putting a rocket engine on a ship and turning it into a half space shuttle.What the hells that got to do with sea movements?.(just an abstract example)
Before modding something,one must be a game tester...so you can know what should be removed,changed or balanced...and what else needs to be added.
Thankfully the creator had enough imagination to figure out tastes are different,so he added a disable/enable function for all those options.However,some of them can't be removed that easy.
What I like about it is they added more variety on adventure objects and battlefield backgrounds,and the maps are a bit more balanced...so it's not a total loss.

I see it's very easy to slide into constructive offtopic (not that it would be a bad thing).
Speaking about Heroes 4,I wonder if Ubisoft can do a remake of it.From what I noticed,the game has a lot of potential.Some parts are so good it could shake the very foundation of the gender.
Has anyone experienced oriental/or euphoric states while playing some maps?.That's the potential I'm talking about.But it takes a rare combination to get there : you have to be on the right map/with the right scripts/to be with a specific team and a specific spiritual mood...so It's no surprise the vast majority never saw it.
