an idea about maps

Hi there, me again, oh well, just wanted to say, there should be maps made specially for learners, the tutorial in heroes 3 doesn't cover basic techniques in-game. people should make maps that teach people, some strategies, tactics, include tips and make the player's level in HOMM 3 higher. since i'm a newbie in this game, i would really want some of the stuff like this. all the maps i saw didn't contain this, would be awesome if they made some n00b-friendly maps that teach people the best way to play the game. it's true i have beaten about 4-5 maps of the warlords of the wastland campaign from heroes chronicles, BUT it wasn't because i was experienced or i changed the difficulty(which i didn't do), it was because they were EASY, especially the first one where you can gather as much troops as you want and go beat the **** out of the A.I. do you agree? and if you are a map maker, i would be pleased if you make a map of such kind, it will help not only me, but fellow beginners.

I could even agree with you but it is never going to happen...
No one cares about newbies and you won't care either when you got more experience.

I would probably even create the maps myself if it wasn't because you really have to be a great player to create a balanced map, as I discovered from trying it dozens of times.

But there are some posts in the "Library of Enlightment", specially in "Tribute to Strategist" that are priceless.
And there are people who post videos of themselves playing like Maretti and a chinese guy (I think his name is Richard Chen but I'm not sure). His videos are amazing, I found this comment while looking for them (again) BTW.

Good Luck

argh! damn these arrogant ********! an expert is created from a newbie! EVERYONE WAS A NEWBIE! yet they don't want to help others. WHY DO YOU EVEN VISIT THIS PLACE, if you don't want to get help and/or help people. i think that not all people here should be treated like some sort of higher-up. if he helps, he gets helped, if not for any reason, it's a waste of a table in the database. i feel pity for people, cause they have no heart, no less. they pay no respect.

and yet you continually want people to do things for you. you are very rude, foolish, and you will never get anywhere with this ridiculous attitude of yours: "gimme gimme gimme. no? **** you then."  this forum is full of information for newbies, that you choose not to read is your own fault, and no one else's.

Ok, yet this is a quote from the greatest map WoG maker of all times and I think Slava would subscribe. -> "Well, in order to play modified games, people have to put some brain effort also, asking the mod maker to make version for retarded people is taking his valuable time for tedious task."

Quite.

Herry, this is the second time now I'm going to give you a warning and tell you to please read the code of conduct. Calling people "arrogant ********s" is not how we treat each other here. It is insulting and provocative and against the rules.

This is your last warning. Next time you're going to be penalized.

You want a map to learn on?

here's what you do: place 10 crypts and lots of lvl 2/3 monsters to guard them. start on 160% and beat the crypts day1/2

replay when you did this 100 of times with all factions for the second lesson (:

Try this one. Starting bonus and difficulty level irrelevant.

EDIT: Fixed an issue with the map.

i ... wasn't joking ):

beating lvl2/3 guards week1 and taking crypts is what you need to be able - why not just do it.. or do you want to play a magic map that will make do for the last 10 years you missed on playing the Game

to MalekithPL

Thank you but I didn't understood the map.
I winned by third week just by collecting creatures, first chaos hydras and then Lizard Warriors. Almost no need for strategy.
Ok, I was lucky, first pair of hydras joinned for free.

What I feel I could use to become a better player was a selection of maps with a difficulty between this one and Metataxer's Revenge or Wayfarer. Hard but not masoquistly hard. Can you recommend some?

Thank you.

to XLNT

Precisely. Do you know that one?

But I designed the one you described, any sugestions about where and how to post it? Please, not on Maps4Heroes...

Are you sure you were not joking? I tryied it and here is the report:
1. In two, three days I'm unhable to move enouch;
2. Some groups of monsters like marksmen and Grand Elves simply kick my b...
3. Even if I manage to lose just one pikeman or centaur I used as fodder per combat, after more then ten fights I start not have any units;
4. If I don't put some mines and resources I'm unhable to continue building so I can't get more units to reinforce the army for the harder fights.

This is the map you described? Should I be hable to beat this?
Without commander and henchman I'm not, with those two I could probably compensate the loses but in standart RoE I can't.

There was indeed slight oversight on my part, thanks for pointing that out. Map is fixed now and should be impossible to complete without using a certain trick.

Trick is Force Field near the tend and Hydras in the next hex, right?

Didn't worked. On the combat with the evil eyes, the two stacks that could reach me were having high-moral too often and every time one of them dyed from retaliation another one immediatly had high-moral, so he could reach. No way without resurrection. Got tired of reloading.

Of course, one can restart again and again until he get's Alamar in the tavern. He knows and he will be able to teach once reach hygher levels.

Salamandre said, in Tribute to Strategists "if you are good at vanilla, wog will be much easier" and the fact is: when I tried the XLNT proposal in WoG (with my most common set of options) after a while it becamed a peace of cake.
Creatures get more HP and new habilities from exp, henchmen and commanders becomming able to deal with many enemies by themselves not to mention the artifacts recived from leveling up, Brute's money and resources from beating certain kinds of monsters.

Even with "Neutral monsters get help", "Creatures stack size" and "Neutral bonuses" options selected, is easier to win in WoG then in vanilla.

But it's still much more fun to play Wog.

TIP1: Wystan is starting hero for a reason. He has Diplomacy for a reason as well.
TIP2: Check out Diplomacy thread and what happens when the strength factor is lowest possible. Then figure out how to increase Sympathy.
TIP3: The sole purpose of spells available on the map is to mislead player

Yeah! Stupid me. The first time I played it I did that, put three or four lizards from another hero to increase sympathy. The thing is this time, in the first week I got basilisks and the second just gnolls.
And then I didn't wait for the third week cause I was looking for a spell related trick.
