Ok, can somebody smart enough tell me why the heck am I in a Tauren village?! I guess not.
I'm in some real trouble now. I'm starving, but all these Taurens have to eat is grass. I don't eat grass! .... I think. Last time I had a good meal is when I ordered that bacon sandwich at Frattelo BY-baj; and damn that was a good sandwich!
What am I gonna do about that Math test I have tomorrow, though? I think that I should speak to the chieftain and ask him how to get home...

Aura was slowly woken from her sleep, by the soft, hushed voices and movements of her ladies-in-waiting, as they moved around her bed chamber arranging her gown and accoutrements for the day.

Aura could feel the warmth of the sun on her face as the drapes in her state room were pulled back.  She lay there with her eyes closed basking in the sun's rays.

"I know you are awake, young lady", the crackled voice snapped, shattering the blissful morning Aura had been enjoying.  "Up, up, up!", Halah barked as she poked and prodded Aura into moving.  Aura opened her eyes and looked at the wizened features of her nurse.  Halah had taken care of Aura from the moment she was born, and Aura loved no-one as much as Halah.  She loved that craggy face, her crooked horns and taloned hands.

Halah huffed and hrrummphed as she manhandled Aura up and out of bed.  "Lazy, good for nothing creature", she mumbled.  "Spoilt brat never gets out of bed.  Always lolling around.  No respect anymore".

Aura threw her arms around her aging nurse and kissed her melodramatically on the face.  "Good morning darling.  Its always such a pleasure to see your warm, happy, smiling face when I wake", Aura smirked.  "Bah, you insolent lizard", Halah guffawed, pushing the young Drakk away with a playful slap on the behind.

Aura flounced over to the table that her breakfast had been placed on and sat down, picking over the myriad of delicacies laid out for her, before choosing a particularly plump date.  "Bored, bored, bored my darling.  Honestly, I wish I were just a normal Drakk working in the fields, free to fly whenever I chose".

Halah turned slowly and deliberately, hands on hips.  "You know very well that today is probably the most important day of your life, my young one.  Now is not the time for frivolous behavior.  I can still spank you my Lady.  That I can".

Aura turned to the view outside.  The majestic mountains glistening with their snow capped peaks, casting fading shadows over the lush and sparkling green of the Sumi marshes.  Aura could make out the silhouettes of eagles soaring high in the clouds.  How she envied them.  Her demeanor now quite changed.

-We found the manuscript- Zayl said to his contact. The meeting took place on an unused guard tower, where one of many criminal organizations were controlling it. Although the torchlight lit up the room, Zayl's eyes were emitting a faint red glow. alongside his contact there were seven well armed and armored guards to ensure no chaos ensure.
- Well, what are you waiting? give it to me.- the man in his early forties said.
- No. You screwed us over Ramus. Your thugs were present at the ruins. It was a true delight to kill them off. all of them, they squealed. like hogs being butchered. I haven't heard such screams from a man's throat for a really long time. And a long time it was for me indeed. cough over the payment, and I promise I'll let you live.
- You're unarmed! everyone knows that! Guards! Seize him!
- Oh, Am I now?- Zayl said as he smiled at the encroaching guards. A red energy aura began to form a blade on Zayl's right arm. Two guards charged at Zayl, but each met his end at his blade. A swift spin and their heads rolled down on the floor. Zayl then took into the offensive, as he leaped forward to another. this time the guard was able to block a few of Zayl's blows with his sword, yet he lost his guard which enabled zayl to strike diagonally from right to left, nearly slicing him open.
The remaining four guards had surrounded him. Zayl was conjuring a spell in his left hand and preparing to block any incoming attacks.
Zayl jumped in the air and released the spell. A fire blast exploded on the ground, engulfing the guards in flames and heating their armor to the extreme. The guards were cooked inside of their armor. Zayl landed and jumped forward towards Ramus, knocking him down in the process.
- You see what happens when you doublecross us?- He said as he stabbed the man in the chest multiple times. After the deed was done Zayl took a large pouch from the table on the room. the piece of furniture caught fire, as well as various crates in the room. Zayl carefully closed the door as he left, leaving everything else in there to burn down the ground.

I'm looking for the Tauren leader, but I can't seem to find him. I know that I should be looking for a large hut where important persons live,  but the thing is that all of the huts here look the same - just a bunch of logs placed into the soil serving as support and some dry grass on top to prevent the rain from getting in. It seemed to do the job for them.
Anyway, none of the Taurens seemed to be surprised by my appearance. They have probably seen a fair share of humans in their lives,  and if so that means that they could lead me to a human settlement. I think that it would be of much help if I asked someone to lead me to their their leader. I approach a Tauren working on carving a totem out of wood.

-Hey, uh...
-You, human, you seem lost. What is a young boy such as yourself doing in our village?
-I actually don't know. I woke up in the middle of the forest and made my way here following the hoofprints.
-Really? Maybe you should see our druids and ask them to talk to the forest spirits. The forest spirits see what happens in the forest; they may know what happened to you.
-Alright, but I don't know where to go.
-Come with me then. I have to take this totem to them anyways.

Well, this guy seems cool.

Grofo the Small was a giant by normal standards, but he felt meek in the presence of his captain Edward Magellan as he rowed the boat carrying both of them. The shore was getting closer, and Magellan was looking at it with his good eye. Grofo didn't know why they came to this isolated place, but he hadn't become third mate of the Seaskull Whip by asking too many questions. When Magellan had personally asked him to row him from the Whip, Grofo had known better than to ask.
"Known better?" Grofo thought, "Captain Magellan has never been cruel to us..." But the large man still was frightened by his thin but imposing superior. Grofo eyed Magellan's belt, where his famed sword Cetus was hanging. "Is it because of Cetus?" Grofo thought. But no, he decided, though Cetus was mightily powerful, Magellan was still more than formidable without it. Grofo glanced up at the captain's face, who didn't look back at him. "His eyepatch... I wonder what happened to his eye... Who could've been strong enough to hurt him there?" Grofo wondered.
"Captain Magellan..." Grofo asked hesitantly, overcome by curiosity, and his superior finally looked at him, making him forget his words. "What's under your eyepatch?" Grofo concluded in panic.
"What's under his eyepatch?" Grofo thought, "What a dumb question! It's a scar! I want to know how he got his eyepatch. But he's scary and I already messed up..."
The pirate captain finally spoke. "That is a rather personal question, Grofo," he said, "But I won't admonish you for asking. You are not the first to be curious, but you are among the few to have enough courage to ask. But let us focus on getting to shore first, rather than dawdle and talk of bygone days. Then I shall tell you."

The small boat finally reached the beach, away from where the Seaskull Whip was anchored, though it was still close - it was a good place to land. "Here we are," said Magellan, and the two men disembarked.
Magellan turned around to look back at the ship anchored in the bay, and Grofo suddenly shuddered in apprehension, as if he would rather be anywhere else than he was now. He looked at his captain from the side, and could only see his good eye, but watched as the captain's hands moved to take off his eyepatch. As he saw the eyepatch in Magellan's hands, Grofo could see an eerie yellow glow coming from the side of Magellan's head he couldn't see.
Then the Seaskull Whip began to rise into the air. Slowly, at first, but then faster and faster. It began to spin in the air as if it were a leaf blown by the wind, and a strange yellow glow appeared around it, as if it were trapped in some ghastly sphere. Grofo could see some of the men try to jump overboard to safety, but it was as if the laws of gravity had ceased to work, and they hung in midair in the yellow glow, then started to spin and be thrown about much like the ship was. The glow became redder and redder, and Grofo could hear infernal screaming coming from the ship, even though it should have been impossible to hear at this distance. Grofo realized that the crew alone could not have scream that loudly. The third mate couldn't move, he knew that to try to run away would be death.
Then there was a red flash, a loud CRACK, and the screaming stopped as the ship exploded into splinters, scattering everywhere. There was no blood, even though there should have been if the bodies had remained... The light in the bay was gone, but Magellan's left side of the head still appeared to glow.
"That felt good," Magellan declared, paused, then continued, "Grofo, you asked me what was under my eyepatch. Do you want to see?" He turned towards his third mate, and the unfortunate man could finally look directly at the glow. Where Magellan's eye should have been, there was an indescribable swirl of colors that were painful to look at, some of which Grofo could not begin to describe - that thing was beyond human understanding, it pulsed and glowed and swirled...
Magellan continued, "What lies under my eyepatch... is madness." His eye began to glow red, and Grofo felt as if a thousand rats were gnawing at him. "I'm dead, I'm so dead," Grofo thought in panic. And he was right.

Magellan put his eyepatch back on. "I've fed," he thought, "Now on to my next objective."

Zayl was headed for the tavern in the city. In the port city of Dresk, the city that Zayl was present there were a lot of fine establishments, serving mostly passing merchants, sailors and adventurers like Zayl. "Gilded Shield" tavern was Zayl's choice for tonight. As he entered, he saw nothing unusual. tavern wenches walking around tables, passing drinks and getting pinched on the arse by the patrons, some brothel wh0res looking for clients, and a mass of various people drinking their wealth away, if they had any. Quite crowded, yet Zayl spotted an empty table at the corner of the establishment.
As he sat down he placed his bag on a chair next to him. The artifact that his now dead employer sought was an old manuscript. Zayl found it in one of the massive caves. some have hidden temple complexes filled with traps and other nastiness. This was not the last time and not the first when Zayl was doublecrossed by his employers. nearly always trying to evade payment, those greedy basterds. But Zayl was always prepared for this kind of trouble. nearly everytime a band of cutthroats hired by his contacts are awaitng him at the exit. They however always walked to their doom.
Zayl looked at the tome. It appeared a harmless thing, really. Yet most tomes like these are. The parchment was old no doubt, ant the texts were written in a language that Zayl had never seen before. It was intriguing to say the least.
- Would you like anything?- a barwench asked
- Yes. We'd like a bottle of wine and something to eat. anything will do.- Zayl tossed a few coins to her. He placed the book back in the bag and looked at the tavern. the patrons could not notice Zayl's piercing gaze, or they were to drunk to notice anything. After seeing that nothing has changed, Zayl took out his journal and a quil. The quil itself was enchanted so it would not require any ink to write. He scribbled a few notes in it in the language that He himself invented.
Zayl put the journal and the quil back in the bag after his meal and drink has arrived.

It was a very cold morning in the Kingdom of Nighgeln, even colder than usual. "i don't think we will eat today" said Lithgin.
"we will eat today don't you worry, there are plenty of frost boar out there we have only to find them" said Dredik.
The wind was howling through the trees, icy rain was bouncing off Drediks face as the great warrior led the way.
Sure enough the pair soon came across a clearing, a lone boar was feeding quite happily in the undergrowth.
"see that one Lith" Dredik grinned " go and distract it, i will kill it"
Lithgin slowly and quietly made his way around the other side of the clearing. It was suddenly very calm now in this space amongst the chaos of the forest. Dredik waited patiently..... CRACK! Went a large branch near Lithgin. The boar ran - "its getting AWAY LITH!" shouted Dredik.
Quiet again fell around him. Lith did not answer. Soon the realisation hit him, perhaps they were not the only ones watching the boar..........

The evening went smooth for Zayl. He was half through his wine bottle and had finished the stew that appearantly was the only thing left to eat in this establishment.
Zayl now studied the book he found at the underground temple he raided. So far He had no clue what's hidden in it's words.
a folded piece of parchment dropped from the book. Zayl examined it. looked as a map. His eyes shined. perhaps this was a clue to were more similiar artifacts been kept hidden from the greedy hands of men. who knows. The map was pretty easy to read, Zayl recognized most of the places marked on it. this seemed to be an opportunity of great profit. Selling ancient artifacts to mages was a good deal, as most were honest folk, and besides some knew what Zayl really was.
After refilling his glass, Zayl planned his way to the next ruin. It seemed to be in the mountain range, westwards from Dresk.

Aura stood at her balcony.  Its while marbled floors and walls sparkled in the morning sun.  The polished marble shimmered, little glints imploding silently like golden sparks, causing Aura to blink.  The only sound was the soft rustle of the gossamer drapes behind her, billowing in the cool mountain breeze.  She stared out into the valley below her.  Its marshy pools and streams, snaking their way through the thick marshgrass, seemingly going on forever.  Occasionally the sun would catch the water in one of those shallow yet dark pools and the light would glint and glow like a solar burst.  She had grown up here and now she may never return.

She closed her eyes as a solitary tear forced it way past her eyelashes and dropped noiselessly onto the marble ledge.

All was still and quiet now, Dredik feared for his friend.
Slowly he made his way around the other side of the clearing moving very quietly so as not to disturb even a leaf. He had always been good at stealth.
As he approached Lithgen he noticed his friend was still breathing, although he did look in a bad way.
"Leg looks broken - i'm going to have to carry him out"
Dredik looked around but could not see anyone or anything.
SMASH....Just as he was preparing to pick up his fallen comrade a huge bear leapt in front of him, snarling and almost foaming at the mouth.
"Now you've just made the worst mistake of your life BEAR!"
The mighty dwarf charged at the massive snarling beast, leaping into the air with a roar "DIE!" He thrust his gleaming battle axe into the skull of the bear - nearly cleaving its head in two.
The bear lay still now. Dredik picked up his most valued weapon and whilst cleaning the blood from the blade he thought to himself "looks like we will be eating well today after all.

Before leaving Dresk, Zayl decided to pay a visit to an old friend of his. It was late thouhg, yet Zayl didn't mind at all.
After scaling the large stone fence that surounded his friend's tower He began scaling the wall of it. It wasn't hard to do so, the tower had many ledge's and other things to grasp on. Zayl knocked on the window, untill a light showed up in it. As the window opened ayl swooped in.
- Oh, for the love of gods Zayl, do you even know what time it is?- The wizard asked. His hair were showing the signs of silver in them, and the wizard sported a nicely cut and maintaind beard. He was wearing a robe and a nightcap. You could say he entered his early sixties. Yet the truth behind his age was a mistery. most wizards were able to prolong their life through various means, be it potions, complex rituals, demonic pacts or even undeath. Rumor had it that Assayd of Dresk was at least six hundred years old.
- I thought you were a godless heathen Assayd. I need your help on something.
- Was it anytime different? What is it this time Zayl?
Zayl took out the manuscript he found for Ramus.
- This. seen anything like this before?
The wizard Took the book and opened it.
- Well, these glyphs... I haven't seen them in a very long time.
- What is it? Can you translate it?
- Translate? only vaguely. The language is complex and very old. it's of a race that came even before the Dragons did. This is...- the wizard turned to the first page- A guide. A guide to something that was of great value to them.
- I found a map in it.- Zayl showed the piece he found.
- Astounding. Still, it's only a small piece. It leads to something great. Where did you come by of this artifact?
- In a cave temple, twenty leagues south of Dresk.
- How on earth did you managed to gain entry there? I've been there with my apprentices once, we couldn't get in.
- Natural talent- Zayl shrugged.
- Ah forget it. It's time consuming for me to learn your secrets. The tome leads to something and probably describes how to use it. You need something far more wiser than me to fully unlock it's secrets. Tell me, what are you planning to do next?
- Go after it of course. We cannot let such opportunity slip through my fingers Assayd. I'm going now where this map leads to. I leads east, to the border of Sudumis and Dragonland.
- The mountains? All right. Good luck. If you don't have anything else to ask, may i return to sleep?
- Yes. You may. Farewell Assayd.- Zayl said as he dissapeared in a cloud of smoke.
- Why can't he enter this way?- Assayd pondered himself as he closed his tower's window.
Zayl looked back at the tower. HE smiled, raised his hood and walked away to the city gate. Passing like a shadow, He swiftly left Dresk behind him. Onto the mountain range.

Aura and her ladies-in-waiting had taken their places in the beautifully decorated palanquin that Aura's father had sent for her journey.  Aura had already said her goodbye to Halah in the privacy of her bedchamber.  Both had cried.  Aura had never felt so frightened and isolated before now.

The stately golden palanquin with its ebony latticed windows and silky red and green tassels, shone like a buffed diamond.  Inside, Aura and her maids were cool and comfortable, reclining against silk pillows.  The ladies-in-waiting gossiped and nattered to themselves.  However, Aura was silent.  Looking out of the  covered and shaded peepholes, she could see the four massive ogres being poked and prodded into place.  Huge steel collars around their necks and face.  Their handlers cajoling them into position with threats, whips and morsels of food.  The ogres bellowed and roared, but most of the sound was swallowed up the rushing wind of the high mountains.

Finally the entourage was ready and the palanquin jerked upwards causing Aura's ladies-in-waiting to squeal with excitement.  Aura's stomach lurched with the palanquin's sudden rise and she felt a sense of panic within her.  The sound of drums and horns accompanied the palanquin and its guard as it began is lumbering journey towards the capital city.

Aura's gaze never left the palace until, eventually it disappeared from view.  She turned her face to the side and wept.

-Of course. I'll send Sir Artence to the southern mines, and Baron Welleton to the eastern mines. I'll also send a fresh group of recruits to the Stirran quarries.

I think I should get up now. No point in laying here anymore.

Zayl traversed the mountain roads. It was dark and cloudy night, with no moonlight to provide the light for a weary traveler. Zayl saw few of them. A merchant in a cart returing from Dragonland, escorted by well armed mercenaries. an old man in rags and a staff, a crazed sage of sort. And a mounted messenger, pushing his steed to it's limits, carrying an important message no doubt.
Zayl payed no mind to the travelers, and they were paying no mind to him.
Zayl looked at his gauntlet that covered his right hand. or what was left of it anyways. In one of his earlier expeditions he was ambushed by the risen dead. The fight was long and seemed never ending. When zayl killed one risen, two more took it's place. Wave after wave, Zayl fended off the walking corpses and risen skeletons. one of them managed to cut off Zayls right hand, as he succumbed to Zayl's Firestorm spell. Zayl burnt the stump of the arm and took his detached hand with him to a coven of necromancers. The skilled sorcerers of this shuned branch of magic were able to restore the hand to function, yet only leaving sinew and bones, as the flesh began to rot away by the time Zayl got there. A special gauntlet as made for him to substitute the flest of the lost limb.
And now it served as a vessel to his wraithblade. Initially taking a form of pure white, the blade when merged with Zayl turned crimson red. Zayl had never speculated on why this happened, as the information about the mystical weapons is scarce at best.
The road was now quiet and Zayl was alone right now, yet somehow he could not shake the feeling that he's being followed.

-Calm down, laddie. You're in Ardesidia's western fort, Fort Stoneclash. I am General Reusler of the Ardesidia's Steel Knights, and this is Sir Kalaiser. one of my most trusted men. He had found you laying unconscious at the Tauren Holy Circle. They were attacked by the Nantross, but you must've collapsed from shock.
-Actually, I felt as if someone has thrown a heavy net on me. I couldn't stand on my feet anymore.
-Yes, that's how Nantross hunt the easy prey. If it weren't for Sir Kalaiser's men passing through the Tauren village, you would've been taken to the Nantross' camp and used for their sacrafice.
-Um, general, could you tell me if you've had any past experience with people appearing out of nowhere and trying to figure out what happened to them?
-What kind of a question is that? Of course not. By the way, I feel as if I'm missing something here. Come, sit here and tell me your story.

Aura and her party had set up camp for the night.  Aura's tent was enormous and took center stage.  It was surrounded by smaller tents in which the guards took turns to sleep and rest.

Inside her tent Aura's state room furnished a huge golden canopied bed.  Silver and gold gauzy drapes hung from the canopy like liquid metal.  Ancient tapestry's and fabric's cloaked the sides of the tent. Several ornately decorated chairs lined up next to a larger chair that was emblazoned with Aura's family's heraldic devices.  Three small tables still carried the remnants of Aura's meal.  From the ceiling of the tent a large brass candelabra hung heavily, its myriad of candles burning silently and filling the tent with a warm and gentle glow. Directly below it, a large fire pit crackled in the center.

Aura's chambermaid's were putting away her bath, linens and oils, as the ladies-in-waiting dressed her before bed.

Aura just wanted them gone.  And waited impatiently as her chambermaid snuffed the candles out, one by one.  Finally the grate was placed over the fire pit and the room turned to shadow.

Aura turned, her back facing the maid settling down in her chair.  Outside the sounds of whispered voices, guards pacing, metals clanking and the growling and snoring of ogres were not a lullaby to induce sleep.

The forest was still and quiet, only distant calls of birds could be heard and the odd rustle up high in the trees as pieces of ice and snow began to melt and fall onto the leaves below.
Two dwarfs with their camp fire and a huge bear laying beside them was all that could be seen for miles around. It was morning now and Dredik was starting to feel the after effects of dragging his friend and that bear over the mountain all the day before. Not far now he thought, we should get back to Nighgeln by the end of the day.
Lith was still unconsious - Dredik had done his best to help him but he was no healer.
He had fashioned a splint and a sled from wood, the snow and ice made it easy to pull along.
As he lay there carving a bear tooth into a charm he thought about his adventures with Lithgin and the battles they had fought together. Soon enough it was time to move on....

Then suddenly... disaster struck.
Zayl dodged the first blow easily. As his blade materialised the evaded another strike. The foes appeared human, yet there was something strange in the way they looked. their bodies hidden behind masks and vast amounts of clothing, yet they still maintained their agility and strenght. they wielded massive axes and maces, farto heavy for any man to use, yet despite the foes' strength the arms were still clumsy and unwieldy.
Zayl decided to take this into his advantage. As one of his four adversaries engaged to swing his massive axe, Zayl evaded it gracefully, and moved forward to attack him. A powerfull thrust of the blade, and blood spilled from the entrails of Zayl's foe. Zayl did a quick spin and landed a second blow in the neck, effectively beheading his opponent. three remained.
Two this time moved in to attack Zayl. He dodged the attacks and slipped behind them, with a lightining bolt spell conjured and ready to be unleashed. As Zayl spoke the last few syllables of the incantation, lighting emmited from Zayls left palm into the attackers. Their smoking corpses hit the ground like a sack of coals.
Zayl moved against his last opponent. Zayl managed to block the incoming mace with his sword, and jumped in the air. in mid air, Zayl grabbed his spectral weapon by both hands and as he landed, he gave every bit of his strenght into the blow. The blade sank deep into the flesh of Zayl's foe, nearly cutting him in two.
Ensuring that all of his foes are dead by decapitating them Zayl decided to peek behind the masks they were wearing.
What he found was a huge surprise to him. The faces were barely human, bearing demonic features. For all they were, Zayl thought that they were demonic spirits embedded into a human body. The demonic possession appeared to be recent, as the demons themselves hadn't been anble to morph into more menacing, demonic forms, thus deforming the host's body.
The practice of binding demons into human bodies wasn't news to Zayl, yet the practice was shunned by nearly all mages, but the most insane ones.
Zayl burned the bodies using his magic, just in case, before he continued on his journey.
